After I cancelled, they abandoned their tank...for over a year--on our property. After finally picking it up a couple months ago, I started get bills for tank RENTAL!! This is the worst company I have ever done business with. When I call the company I'm on hold for at least a half hour to an hour. Then they don't know how to do there job once they finally answer the phone. They claim there the cheapest LIES. Then they come out to service their tank that I lease and try to charge me for the service. Now they finally send me a bill and tell me to pay right now or there will be service interruptions. I will NEVER recommend Amerigas to anyone. we moved into a rental that already had Amerigas tanks. A month into living there we started to smell gas and called them out to be told that there was no leak and they will be locking us out of our tanks until we create an account (something we hadn't done yet because there was gas in the tanks when we moved in). We created an account and was told it would be well over a week before we could get them unlocked. As a pregnant woman durning a very cold storm I was not happy to have no hot water, heat, or way to cook. We called out Hunts to replace the tanks asap and have loved their service. The larger propane companies in general have some pretty scandalous practices. One of the factors of your cost per gallon is your credit rating. If you have bad credit you are going to pay as much as double if not more per gallon. Can you imagine if that was the case at the gas pump? I roll up to the pump and pay $2 per gallon and you rollup and pay $5 because There are so many variable algorithms and ways to they charge. Yikes! read more

They placed an underground tank on my property in an excavated hole that they directed, then billed me over $1000. The tank is not in accordance with the county and isn't approved and can't be used. This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. We switched companies because of Amerigas's outrageous prices. We had to pay $150.00 for them to come pick up their tank. They have as of yet to show up to pick their tank up, after being given three different pick up dates by their "customer" service", department located in God knows where. Amerigas does not notify you that they will not be there. They just don't show up. They have given me three different dates in the last forty days. I have a trailer being delivered on Tuesday November 1, 2022. If Amerigas has not picked their tank up by then, or notified me in any way, I will assume that Amerigas has abandoned their tank and I will take it to the dump. If my trailer can not be delivered, because the Amerigas tank is still here, I will forward them an invoice for having to have the delivery of my trailer rescheduled as specified by the trailer delivery person. Warning Penryn, Loomis, Placer County Community!!! Do not go with AmeriGas for Propane!!! Ridiculous Prices!!! I just checked my bill and they charged me $3.74/gallon. WTH? For the Record, I looked up the national average cost from the U.S. Energy Information Administration for January 2017, which is $2.30/gal and after speaking/arguing with AmeriGas, whom told their prices were based off of supply and demand. I called three other companies that service the local area whom quoted me $2.17, $2.25, and $1.89. Certainly renting a tank may add a few cents to the price per gallon and one company does not even charge a rental fee, so fair warning that AmeriGas is basically robbing it's customers, so I'll certainly be switching. I am at my wits end dealing with Amerigas. Several times now they have changed my contract without any notice and now my latest bill had a 75% increase in the price per gallon. I have been on the leveled pay plan because I have a tenant on a limited income, so it is easier for her to have a set amount to pay each month year round. I didn't complain when they upped the monthly (twice). I have been trying to get someone to just talk to me and keep getting bounced from one person the another, with lots of "glad handing". I just want information and maybe a copy of my contract. I was referred to Drew the district manager - left a message last Wednesday, called back this Wednesday and had to leave another message for him. He did leave me a voice mail on Thursday, I called right back and he hasn't answered (3 times now) and now his voice mail box is full. So, I tried to call the office again at 3:50 today (Friday) and am getting a message saying the office is closed - even though their web page says that they are open until 5:00 Monday-Friday. I will definitely be changing to another company, hopefully it won't take 6 months for them to come get the tank! read more

We are out of propane that we use for heat and hot water. I started notifying Amerigas on 12/21 that we were at 20% and was told I was scheduled for 3 day delivery. It wasn't delivered, we ran out of gas and have been out for over a week. From 12/21 to 01/06 I have called 6 times each time being told next day delivery it is now the 8th and still no delivery. We have small children and pets, we live in town, there is no reason or obstacles to delivery. I feel lied to and I don't know when it will actually be delivered because each representative says something different. The last phone call with a representative resulted in them asking for 400 dollars. I'm not sure what is happening to this company but I'm scared for our community. read more

I thought the Driver was going to attack me or worse ! Be careful, I went to CVS on Latrobe road to get my wife a birthday card and went in my car to leave and started to back up and the America's truck pulled up behind me blocking 6 parking spots. They could have pulled up because there were no cars on either side of me or parked in a spot like the beer truck did but the driver was clearly pissed off at someone or possible mistakes me for someone on the road . I had to put my car back in park while they emptied the propane canisters in the outside locker and refilled them, I was stuck there for probably 10 minutes, the whole time the driver walked past my car back and forth to his truck swearing and growling at me. I live in a small apt, my landlord uses Amerigas for propane service. I am home only 8 days a month and yet my bill was $333 in February, 2019. I set my thermostat at 55 when not at home and yet I was told "well your pilot light is still on so that will make your bill higher", yeah, I don't think so! It all makes sense now that I've seen the reviews. I'll just sum this up. 1. Called prior to delivery to see if payment arrangements could be made. Was told they could be, explained husband and myself are on disability and can't afford to pay the whole thing out of pocket. Was made aware of a program to assist. Assured payment would not be due until statement arrived. Checked my bank account this morning and damn near $600.00 was deducted. 2. First time propane was filled cost $238. This time almost $600. 3. It's 8:28 on Wednesday morning and unless I learned a different variation of English so many years ago in elementary school, the website and Yelp both indicate the local offices hours of operation are from 8:00am-5:00pm. Hmmm.... Just got our delivery the other day so no point in cancelling at this point but if this is a forecast of what is to come, I will be looking for propane services elsewhere. read more

Amerigas IS A JOKE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! For 3 months now we have had nothing but problems with them. We had a leak did what they said to fix it, they said not good enough. so they said lets put in a new tank we said ok. They told me I needed to take down a fence and dig a trench, I did that. The day they are to come out we called to double check the time when they would be here, and they cancelled the appt. but never told us.They said the driveway was to muddy but never even came out to see that it wasn't. The service guy Cory Reff told us "we should find another company to use". If their own service guy tells you to use another company do you really want to use this company. read more

I called today to get a quote for propane, before letting the truck come for a top-off. (I have a gate and I don't give them the code.) The last time I got a delivery the price was $2.02 a gallon, this time they wanted $3.39 a gallon. I called 49er Propane ($2.09) and Kamps ($2.39). It's clear that being hooked into Amerrigas is a bad deal. I'm thinking I should move from Amerigas. Seems all other providers are a much better deal. HORRIBLE COMPANY! I don't think Yelp offers enough room on here to share my experiences with Amerigas. I'm warning you, do not give this company your business. The first experience I had was having a technician steal my North Face jacket after only filling my empty talk with 5 gallons. I had to keep calling to have them come out and fill me up and they couldn't explain why they hardly filled my tank. When one of the original technicians came back over he refused to light the pilot light claiming it "wasn't his job." They have let me run out of gas and when I called the emergency number they said they couldn't come over because their system showed me as a "will call." The next morning the Placerville office called and apologized and had someone come right out that snowy morning. Natalie lost my contract and that's why I wasn't being refilled. When they came by and topped of my tank they charged me $4 a gallon because AGAIN they "lost my forecast contract" with the "locked in price of $1.99". After disputing the transaction with my bank I called for a refund for an overcharge. I wish I could remember her name but the representative hung up on me when I asked to close my account. She called me back and when I pick up she was talking to someone else and I heard her call me a "b***h!" When I said "What did you call me" she proceeded to speak in a baby voice. She said they will not send any paperwork showing I've discontinued my account and that I wouldn't get a refund when I canceled. I told her to cancel me and she said I would get a "final bill". But I have yet to receive anything. I am contacting CA Department of Consumer Affairs to report them. Yes, they are that bad.! read more

These are nice people and before reading the other reviews I would not have hesitated to do business with them, but it's lousy place to refill a propane tank. If there are two people working in the office you will probably be OK. If there's only one, forget about it. Here's the sequence: 1. Wait in the office for your turn. Ask about a propane refill. The wait could be a couple of minutes or half an hour. 2. Wait for someone to come fill the tank. Not a long wait. 3. Wait for the tank to be refilled. Not long. They are efficient, very careful, and very polite. 4. Go back to the office and pay. At best, the paperwork takes a surprisingly long time. You don't just pay. Forms have to be processed and signed. At worst, they are back on the phone. You might wait only five or ten ten minutes. It could be longer. It could be shorter. You just don't know. I drove over there yesterday. The one person working in the office was on the phone. One other customer was waiting. At the end of an interminable telephone conversation I thought "at last". What do I hear? "Thank you for holding", and she starts another conversation. Getting the tank filled was going to take forever. I walked out and went to Walmart. Walmart charges a little more and comes with its own small aggravations, but exchanging a tank is simple and fairly fast. read more
