Along with a dozen others in my condo community, I put in a new fence provided by Amerifence. I was promised a fence that was level. It was NOT. It was also missing the crowns which, when installed later, blew off in the wind. Now, the gate does not close. Each time that I call for repairs, I am transferred to an extension which is never answered, just as my messages are never answered or attended to. I have never written a negative review of a business in my life, but in the case of Amerifence, I feel that it is more than merited. I am deeply disappointed in the shoddy workmanship and the total disregard of proper customer service. read more

Fence looks beautiful, installed on time, in a timely manner. Fast forward a month and come to find out one of the workers used a post hole auger next to our foundation and cracked a sump pump line. Now my back yard has been back filling with water. The company refuses to accept responsibility, won't return my calls, and my back yard has been flooding for 3 months now. read more

I will give my experience three stars because overall, the fence looks OK. But unfortunately there were other issues that materialized during the erection of the fence. The estimator was pleasant and professional and gave us an estimate/price right on the spot. They gave us a very decent deal as far as how much the job would cost. We ended up with a cedar fence shadow box style. On a scale from 1 to 10. I would give the finished fence an eight on a 10 scale. Unfortunately, just after we got the fence installed, they put out a mailer coupon for even less off of the price. Oh well,......sometimes the timing doesn't always work out in life. But, again, I have to be honest when I state that there were other problems we encountered that I eventually had to discuss with the owner. We ended up agreeing to a monetary resolution to alleviate the annoyance of the various inconvenience(s); to eventually/somewhat resolve the situation. When the installers arrived, they barely spoke English and looked a bit confused. I tried to communicate with one of them because he seemed to know just a bit more English than the other guy, who looked like he understood nothing I was saying. The language barrier can be a big problem at times, and I really don't care to deal with that frustrating struggle. When I think we finally were on the same page as to what was supposed to be done, the existing metal fence was removed. They did not do an adequate job because they didn't cut the posts down far enough, and failed to fill the holes. They also left multitudes of metal links all over the yard as well as in the huge piles of dirt they left behind. We found out the hard way after we tried to mow the yard shortly after they left. It's not cool to run over metal pieces when mowing. It will destroy a very expensive riding mower, not to mention becoming deadly shrapnel to anyone nearby. Very uncool, not to mention a huge liability. I didn't know they were going to leave the huge piles of dirt too. The sales person failed to tell me that I had to pay extra to get the dirt removed. I might have opted for that choice because I had to shovel all of it away and creatively place it elsewhere. It was more work than I ever bargained for. It wasn't very assuring that the one worker kept asking me about things he should know like: does this look level? I started to lose lots of confidence in them after that. I felt that I needed to check on them once in awhile to intercede on something or anything going awry. Unfortunately, a few things did, and they got some stuff past me before they finished and left the job site. They didn't ask about the latch installation on the gate as well. It was placed way too low, and on only one side of the gate. I am pretty short, and it was hard to reach. Once again, I suppose we got what we paid for, and also what we didn't pay for. Customer beware. You will have to stay on top of the whole project if you decide to get a fence with this company. It's a shame that a customer can't relax and have faith that the job is in competent and mindful/caring hands - 100%. It's also another shame that they will go on my list of contractors I won't hire again. What ever happened to a job well done that includes expert workmanship (no hacks), along with general integrity and pride? Is that expectation unrealistic these days and something solely from days gone by? Mediocrity, laziness and greed seems to be the order of the day now. A huge majority of the many (sub) contractors we have hired in the past few years have been appalling regarding their lack of professionalism. Installation was completed in 6 hours.The reactions from my neighbors when they came home and realized thier kids and dogs would no longer be able to run through the back of my house PRICELESS. We had an older fence that we needed replaced. We had gotten a few estimates and Amerifence was a lot more expensive that the price we got from Lowes. We were told we were getting a better quality fence. Specifically that the materials (wood, hinges, latches, and styling) was of a superior quality. All we wanted was the exact same fence but with new wood. We did not get that at all. The gates are very poorly constructed. The fence has only been up for 2 months and the gates are already beginning to sag and having issues closing. The posts that support the gate are not enough to really insure that the gate is sturdy. They use whats known as a "Z-gate" DO NOT LET THEM INSTALL THIS GATE! Our old gate was supported with angle irons and was insured to be perfectly square, so much so that I have saved it and will be using it to make a coffee table. We told the sales guy that we wanted the exact same fence and that is not what we got. We got stuck with thinner outer planks that were leftover from another job. We didn't realize this until the fence was already up and we were forced to pay for it. They kept trying to push other designs on us as well, i believe because they had pieces leftover from other jobs or cancellations. I WANTED WHAT I WANTED! Stop pushing your overstock off on me. Oh, and the post topper designs that we wanted were no longer available. When they came out to put the fence up the installers wanted to put the second gate far away from the house because it was easier for them to do so and would require less digging on their part. My girlfriend had to direct them to not change it. The outline clearly had the gate marked closer to the house, they just didn't want to do the work. Our old fence was screwed together with deck screws and was very sturdy. This fence is nailed together and I fear that it could come apart with time. AND THE NAILS AREN'T EVEN NAILED IN A STRAIGHT LINE. The panels were built offsite! What's the matter? You guys don't have a chalk line in your shop?! We decided to go with a more expensive fence because we hope to sell our house in a couple of years. I am just glad that the fence comes with a 2 year warranty because I know we will need it. They also nail on an Amerifence sign to the outside of your fence. That sign was nailed on skewed. You can't even make sure your own forced advertisement is square! I am ripping that sign off so that my neighbors don't make the same mistake. We have told every one about how displeased we are. I don't recommend any one ever use Amerifence. Next time I am using a private contractor so i can at least get what I want. read more

We had Amerifence install a fence at our old house. We had no issues with communication with that fence. We had a post that kept coming up, they would come out and fix it with no questions. We currently moved. I have a licensed daycare and needed a permanent fence instead of my temporary fence that I had up. I called Amerifence and had someone come out and give me a quote. He was very nice and friendly. I was granted a grant from the state to help with the cost of my fence. We scheduled the fence to installed. They called the call before you dig place to have them come out and mark the yard. They then came out and put up the fence. It's a beautiful fence. I'm on A corner so it gets a lot of looks. My son was told to go out and cover the posts up with the dirt from the holes they dug. He came inside and said, mom it smells like poop out there. I said, "you probably haven't been doing your job!" (He has to pick up the dog messes) The following Sunday, my mom and grandma are here and we are outside. Someone flushes the toilet inside and we smell nothing but raw sewage. Well, Amerifence busted our sewer pipe!!!!!!! I called first thing Monday morning, was told that I would get a phone call back as soon as the scheduling lady gets in at 930. (Can't think of her name - not friendly!) At 1245 on Monday, I call back as I still have no return call. She knew nothing about what I was talking about. THIS went on and on for three weeks. I couldn't take my daycare kids outside for three weeks due to this. So I had upset parents but they understood why we weren't going outside. But did Amerifence care that they were interrupting my business? Of course not, they got their money!!!! They said it wasn't their fault cause they didn't know there were sewer lines there. So needless to say , my husband Mike had several conversations with the owner Mike, via text towards the end. The most that he was willing to pay was half of the plumber bill. Amerifence tried to send an unlicensed plumber out here to look at the issue. That didn't fly with me. We called Gordons plumbing out here and they had it fixed in a day and a half. Gordons rocks. However the bill was around 950.00. It's just frustrating that we had to pay for something that wasn't our fault and it was pulling teeth getting them to cooperate at all. It would be like me leaving a daycare kid in a dirty diaper all day, then when they have a rash telling the parents that it isn't my fault!!! What?!?!?!? Blows my mind!!!!! We def won't be going with this company again. read more

This company is the worst company I have had to deal with. We asked for the fence to be lowered all the way to ground because of dogs and still to this date not lowered. We have had them come out and fix boards that said was not their fault. Now my fence is bowing out and falling apart. We also had them come out and fix a latch to the gate and it actually looks worst than first installed. Fence looks Ok. Sales and customer service are extremely slow to respond. I would not recommend.

The sales person, Shannon, was very professional and gave us a quote on the spot of which the pricing was fair. The only reason to deduct stars was around the installation. The guys showed up and were asking my wife questions that they should've known regarding the drawing that The sales person did regarding where the fence should go. It was quite simple in my opinion. Secondly, I should've been sold on the dirt removal. The amount of left over dirt was quite ridiculous and at this point almost impossible to remove. The damage cause to the surrounding sod is also a big problem. This should've been discussed in detail at the initial consultation and also again after we decided to move forward with Amerifence. I now have 30 piles of dirt where grass won't grow and it's 100's of pounds to remove dirt and rocks. Not to mention the scattered dirt clumps throughout my yard with sprinkled screws and drill driver bits left behind. All of which is great for my dog's paws and my lawn mower. Cleanliness is not a strong suit of this bunch. Lastly the main gate does not stay closed. A minimal gust of wind will push it right open from being latched. read more

I purchased a fence from Amerifence right when they first started in business 13 years ago and must say the fence has held up so well that I decided to give AmeriFence a chance to add a fence at another property. While they are now a bigger company I was still able to speak directly with the owner and as a repeat customer at this point there is no way I will buy another fence from any company other than Amerifence. Been trying to get a quote from them for two weeks. Can't even get a salesman to call me back. The customer service rep keeps apologizing, "they are so busy, I'm going to put a call into them now". Still nothing. I'm confused about their business model. I made it super easy. A house two lots up from us has the exact same dimensions and had them install a privacy fence. You'd be silly to go any place else to get a fence! Amerifence is AMAZING! Not only do they have old-fashioned customer service (still view customers as people not just a sales number), but the quality of their fencing is second to none. Our fence and gates were not easy to configure due to our various wants and needs. However our sales rep, Zach, took a lot of time to share options and make sure we knew what they could do for us - even with the multiple "what if" questions we had. (And I can ask a lot of questions and explored all options!) Installation team were equally amazing. Our neighbors LOVE how great our fence looks in the neighborhood. We are constantly getting compliments on how nice it looks. We did an add-on gate after the fact for our deck and due the uniqueness of it, had a little issue that needed addressed. Mike, co-owner, took a personal interest and came out to ensure any adjustments needed were done to our complete satisfaction. Any time I called into the office, Janice and/or Wendy were always eager and happy to help in anyway they could. And our dogs...well they would stay out there all day if we'd let them! We feel good about letting them stay out there by themselves because we know they are safely secured within the confines of the fence. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call Amerifence for all your fencing needs - big, little or in between. We are confident you will be happy you did! We certainly are! read more

We just had Amerifence install a 4 foot shadow box cedar fence at our home in Zionsville. Mike met with us for a quote and he was extremely helpful in giving us suggestions. He showed his interest in what we wanted from the fence and made recommendations accordingly. One thing that always bothers me is pushy salesmen and we appreciated that Mike didn't pressure us into anything but left us a quote and gave us time to think about what we wanted to do before making any sort of commitment. We were not home when our fence was installed, but our neighbor commented to me that the workers did a great job of putting up the fence and that they were professional while at our house. We have also gotten several compliments on the appearance of our fence and our puppy loves being able to run around the backyard without being on a leash. The only complaint we have with Amerifence is that there were several times we had to call the office to figure out the timing of process such as when our fence was scheduled to be installed and when we should expect workers to arrive at our house. We received quick responses both times we called the office, but it would have been nice to have confirmation calls both times. Overall, we are extremely pleased with our experience with Amerifence. There is no question about the quality of our fence and we are looking forward to enjoying it for years to come! read more

When they came out to install the fence, they did not complete the job. Said they would come out the next day because they were missing one board. They did not come back the next day and also forgot to put the ground gate latch in which caused the closing gate latch to break and the gate would keep banging into the broken latch in the wind and make a loud banging noise. I could not close the gate, the job was not finished!! Also, the fence was supposed to go further back 2ft, but I let that slide. I had to call every day for about three weeks before they came out and finished the job. And that was only after they received the remaining payment, which I wasn't going to pay until the job was finished, but wanted to get this done with and move on. Two stars because the rest of the fence looks nice, gate is crooked with uneven boards and looks like crap though. But, I will let it be because I don't want to deal with these people again. read more

I would have loved to have experienced their work firsthand; however, their complete lack of customer relations and provision of critical information and details, makes me as a potential customer ask "how is this company even in business?" . Facts. While Jim(sales rep) is personable and attempts to be open and honest regarding Amerifence quotes, the company itself is poorly managed and obviously makes very little effort to provide install details, notes on scheduling, or appropriate followup.... . 30% deposit sent in for a job but then when customer attempted to send in emails regarding the install specs (answers to questions I forgot to ask during quote), whoever answers emails abruply claimed they would cancel the job. These are core basic questions that the business office was failing to be responsive too - full disclosure: of course my last of 5 emails said I would hold final payment if result of install was faulty because I was not getting answers to questions on the first 4 emails. When called and expressed concern these important questions were not being completly answered, they said they would get back with me. Only on the day of planned install, when I had to call the office to inquire, did they say, rememer our email last week. If they were firm on the cancellation...then why wasn't the deposit refunded the day that decision was made. Only following the actual final phone call, did they say the check would go out in the mail. . . Some extremely shady, and unreliable business practices going on here. Perhaps some of the consumer affairs news networks should be sent their way for investigation.. . potential customers may wish to give Amerifence competitors a call instead. read more

I would strongly warn against using this company. They put up an aluminum gate for us that was laughable, it was so un-sturdy. The very day that it was put up, we asked about options for an upgrade on a gate. They would not return phone calls or e-mails. When we finally did get a hold of them, two different employees gave us considerably different quotes on an upgraded gate. We started to feel they were being dishonest with us. They finally agreed to give us a partial refund and said they would send us a check, however, we never received the check. On the plus side, they did have great fence installers, who seemed to work very hard. I just hope this company is not taking advantage of their workers, just as they are their customers. Under NO circumstances would I use this company!! We should have checked with the BBB before using them, apparantly others agreed with us. read more

My fence building experience with Amerifence was a positive one from start to finish. Mike took the time to locate my property markers, and thoroughly explained the process, including showing me a photo of the style if fence I'd requested based on my rough sketch. To top it off, he then gave me the lowest quite I'd received (out of 4). The men who built my fence were highly skilled, courteous and quick! They built my fence in a day! It looks great! Mike the repair person was here yesterday and fixed the smaller issues. He was a very nice and concerate young man. We address my issues with the customer service. I had 6 ft. Vinyl fencing installed 6/613 and love the look of the product, but the service and the materials have been horrible. I have 3 gates in my fencing and have had problems with them since day one. I have contacted Amerifence 6 different times in the 2 months to ask for repair and have never received a call back or proper repairs. The gates still are not repaired and I don't know what to do. I would not suggest that anyone use this company for fencing installation. Their customer service is horrible (both Judy and Frank do not return calls) and the products is inferior and not worth the $3000 I spent for fencing. Save yourself the pain and frustration and select another fencing company is my advise. read more

After many meetings with the contractors from Amerifence i decided to go with them to build the fence in our yard. They promised cedar wood and stated the life of the wood should surpass 20 years. They also gave me a two year warranty and promised if anything is wrong with the wood they would come replace or fix the damaged wood. Little did I know that these guys do not keep their promises and their sales pitch is pure lies. It has been less than 1 year and i already notice large wide splits running through the post. The rails are chipping way and deteriorating. At this rate, i doubt the fence is going to last five years! I also noticed the installation was not done properly. One of the side door is uneven and has a wide gap between the door and the post. The post and the rails are not evenly placed. I called amerifence and told them about the issues and they told me cedar naturally splits and wears away. I can understand that after 5 years or 10 years but after less than a year, i would not expect the wood to break apart. My neighbors warned me of the quality of the work. After repeated phone calls, NO CONTRACTORS CAME TO CHECK MY FENCE EVEN WITH THE SO CALLED 2 YEAR WARRANTY! They made no attempts to understand the situation or make amends for the faulty work. DO NOT GO WITH THESE CONTRACTORS! THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY! THEY LIE TO GET YOUR BUSINESS! I have never been this dissapointed. I wish i had gone with a different contractor. Please use your money wisely and go with someone else. read more

I had a new home built and really wanted a fence so I called Amerifence out for an estimate . I met with Shannon who was wonderful. However, after the fence was installed we have had nothing but issues. The guys who came out to install the fence did a HORRIBLE JOB. We had a 6 foot cedar wood privacy fence installed. The fence has gaps all through it (so much for privacy) the wood is splitting through out the entire fence, the fence is coming apart on 2 different sides and we have only had it for a month. My husband has called several times trying to get someone to come out and make this right and has been told that someone would get back with him. He calls again and was told to take pictures and e-mail them over. We took pictures and e-mailed them over and heard nothing so before the end of the day we call again and was told that Judy would call us back. Guess what? she didn't so here we are with a fence that we spent a lot of money on and a company that will not stand behind the product they are selling. Thank goodness I work with a lot of attorneys because that is the next step in this NIGHTMARE!! DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I want to help anyone I can by advising you to look elsewhere for your fencing needs. I would hate for anyone else to spend this kind of money on a fence and get GARBAGE in return.
