Everything started well with this company. They were the best quote, and stated they could get it done the fastest. When I chose them I went to the office to pay, and was told that they had a cancellation and could get me in on Wednesday of the next week. They said it would be completely done in two days, finished on that Thursday. I paid my deposit and left, but realized when I got home that the contract stated the sprinkler system in my yard needed to be marked. I called back to explain that the water was turned off to the system, it was winter, so I personally had no way of marking it. I was told by the girl on the phone that they would have someone come out to mark all lines, including the sprinkler system, prior to coming out. A few days later they moved the installation to Friday of the next week, not a huge deal, but they don't work on weekends, so it wouldn't be finished until the following Monday. On Friday I intercepted the guys that showed up before they started digging. I told them that I had a sprinkler system, but it hadn't been marked like they advised it would be. The guys were nice, and said they'd be careful. I walked them through the yard to give them my best guess of the system. They ended up saying they hit a line to the system, but it was a simple pipe that they fixed themselves. Monday they arrived early, but told me they wouldn't be staying, and they'd have to return in a day or two. I was a little annoyed, but they were nice enough about it. I figured weather had maybe played a part in delaying my fence nearly a week from what I was originally told.
Then the problem with my neighbor started. My neighbor, who I have never spoken to, was upset that she believed her yard had been damaged during the fence installation. Her yard had not been damaged, but I directed her to the company so she could take her concerns up with them. A short time later, the owner, Nick, left me a voicemail full of the most unprofessional language. He was calling my neighbor every name in the book. When I called him, even though him and I had never spoken, he made vague threats towards my neighbor, and continued with the unprofessional language. I was extremely annoyed at this point, but I gave him the paperwork he needed to show that all the work was done on my plot. He was grateful, he even gave me a hundred dollar discount while he was at the house taking measurements, but continued to be extremely unprofessional about my neighbor.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I scheduled the sprinkler company to come start up the system. I walked the fence, and found that a sprinkler head was broken, and hidden from me, wedged between the fence and house. No one had mentioned it to me when it happened, and the hose it was attached to was buried in the mud, this was possibly an accident. I texted Nick, honestly I didn't want to, because I saw how he had acted towards my neighbor, but I explained what had happened. He called, and I explained the situation. He told me to read my contract because they weren't going to replace the broken sprinkler head since he said no one knows where they are. I said that I was told by the girl on the phone that they would be marked, and he said she's 19 and she doesn't know.
I get that my neighbor was being ridiculous, but in the end so was the owner. The quote I got from the other companies was just a few dollars more, and I doubt very much that I would have had the same hassle. Think twice before going with this company, if the quotes are close, maybe spend a little extra for an owner that won't leave long curse filled rants to you on your voicemail. I ended up paying three hundred dollars to replace all the damage they caused to my sprinkler system, and I didn't even call him about the dozen loose boards I had to go fix myself.
I didn't intend on leaving any review, positive or negative, despite all that had occurred. Then when I called and Nick treated me like I was in the wrong for being upset about a broken sprinkler head that I was never informed about, I decided I should probably leave an honest review on here. read more
