Second stay in a few years. This place isn't the ritz, but it's a damn fine home base for exploring Pendleton. There is ample parking every time I've been here, the rooms are small but I don't vacation to sit in my room. It's walking distance to so much! I have no idea what another review said about that- my 92 year old grandma made it to the museum, stores to shop, and lunch at prodigal son. So I mean like, if a 92 year old woman can explore downtown for a few hours and walk to the museum that's minutes away- I would say that's solid. It's a quick 10 minute max drive to the casino - but we went the cultural museum out there instead and it was amazing. The gift shop there is pricey but nice and they have an adorable little cafe. The staff were delightful and helpful. Gave us the same room we stayed in a few years ago 113/114 can be rented together to go between them when we went with my parents. The room was clean, has a microwave, tv, little fridge. Everything we needed for our home base to explore. It's walking distance to the underground tour- which I highly recommend! Lots of cute shops within a few blocks! Can't beat a simple breakfast with long service availability, a little small for the area but my grandma likes sitting at the table to talk to other travelers. Over all, can't beat it for the price in my opinion but we booked a long while ahead and were not here for an event weekend. read more

Meh nothing special here, the beds are comfortable, but the room is very small and one of smallest batbathrooms I've seen. There was also a spider in the room, other than that the room was clean. Other negatives, nothing within walking distance and it's on a one way street. Gross and unsafe. Upon entry we were blown back by the smell of dog piss. There were past visitor socks on the floor so guessing carpet(old) was not vacuumed. Crumbs in sheets so we had to use our camping gear sleeping bags. Additionally, we were on the bottom floor and one of the windows would not close all the way or lock. read more

It's our first year attending the Pendleton Roundup, and it's understandable that the cost of rooms or an Air BnB will be higher than usual, but this should be illegal! It's a two star hotel! Where's the city government, do they routinely allow people to price gouge this bad? This hotel sucks. I'm sitting outside knocking on their door, calling their phone number, just to get a key to get in my room. How can you have no one in the front desk?! Their sign "open" is lit, they posted a note call this number for check in, well, I've called it 9 times so far.. no answer. Given its almost 3am, I highly feel that there should be someone at the front desk, or someone to answer the phone number you have posted for emergency purposes. Our company have stayed here almost every year we went to Pendleton, looks like it's time to start looking for other options. *** Update : after someone figured out where in the hotel the people that run this place stay, and after someone knocking continuously until they woke up, I finally got a room key. 3 hours. made a reservation over two weeks in advance through Expedia and because I was traveling with pets I called the hotel directly right away to confirm my reservation and that pet rooms were available. I was assured that my reservation was confirmed with a note that I would have pets and be located on the first floor. Then 24hrs before I arrived I received a message from Expedia stating the hotel was overbooked and that my reservation could not be accommodated. Feeling that this had to be a mistake as I had already called the hotel to confirm, I called back and was told this was all Expedia's fault and that no such record of my call or reservation existed in their system. Now with 24hrs to go I'm left looking for a new hotel that will accept my pets and accommodate me on short notice. You already expect a cheap, shitty hotel when you see it from the outside, but these people take 'bad service' to another level. And I've had decent experiences at different America's Best Value Inn locations. The owners of this location could care less about how uncomfortable you are. The room was dirty, the front desk man was rude, the tub looks like it has never been scrubbed, the mattress was dented and the owners are too cheap to salt their parking lot. We're in the a foot of snow dealing with our own snowed in parking space (it stopped snowing 6 hrs ago) and our room heater doesn't even work (it's - 5 outside). I have to say this motel is appropriately named. After traveling from Seattle to Wyoming and back again, this place was the best value proposition of our entire trip. The rates here are at 25-30% discount to the standard chain motels. And almost as cool is the fact that the location is downtown as opposed to next to the freeway. While that might not seem as convenient for stopping off and finding a motel, it is actually preferred because the Value Inn is within walking distance to most all dining establishments. The last thing you want to do after roadtrippin is get back in your car to go find a place to eat. Besides walking is good for you. So for all you wary travelers, I recommend you map your way to the Value Inn, walk to get your dinner, and then get a good nights sleep! read more

We called late one night on our way thru to Boise and the clerk was VERY friendly and helpful. My father is a disabled veteran and he made sure we got a really nice large room with parking right in front of it. He also gave us a great discounted price. The room was spotless and huge. We ended up in Pendleton on our way back across the country from Seattle to Philly. We had planned to stop in La Grande, but the hotels were poorly rated compared to the ones in Pendleton and this one seemed well worth it in particular. We got a great rate - just over $50 with tax - and the room had a king bed, a desk and table and a mini fridge (something sorely lacking in our other hotels along the way). We liked the bed a lot. Soft and comfy with great pillows. I appreciated the workspace as we both had things to do on our laptops. The Wifi wasn't very fast, so don't get excited to stream Netflex while you're here. The important parts of the room were clean- the sheets and bathroom - but we noticed some other not so clean bits. A big bonus was the man who checked us in - might be the owner or manager - he had lots of great advice for restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Free coffee all day and night and a simple continental breakfast in the morning made for a happy send off when we packed up to continue east! read more

Cramped room, especially the bathroom. I don't like it when the toilet is up against a wall and you have to put you legs together to sit down. The breakfast bar was sloppy, ran out of waffle mix, had 1 overflowing trashcan, weak coffee and no grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, or bagels. They had a few mini bagels and some overripe bananas. It is located at a walls in the lobby and got way too crowded. The rooms were noisy,kept hearing a loud Hum and I think they were holding a track meet upstairs. This was one of the nicest stays we had at a hotel in years. The rooms are very clean, picked up everyday. Newer furnishings. Whoever hired this staff kudos to you. The ladies we dealt with at the desk could not have been more accomadating, we had gotten in earlier than expected and were given a early check in, our original room was to be on the second floor and we asked for a ground floor room as my wife had broken here foot and the stairs would have been tough on her, again no problem. On check out day they also accomadated a late check out due to a appointment we had and then also kept our luggage in the office as we had another afternoon appointment and would not be back until after 4 pm, and did not want to leave luggage in the hot car. It was 115 the day we were leaving. I had read some of the other reviews about rude staff and other issues, nothing could be farther from the truth in our experience here. Stayed 6/24; our group booked 5 rooms for 1-2 nights because it was close to the venue where our family party was being held. We got in at 12:30 at night and our room reeked of urine. We could see stains on one of the mattresses. The hotel and all the hotels in town were booked, so we could not change rooms and just slept on the other bed. My brother-in-law who arrived Sat found 2 adult bugs beneath a mattress in his room and brought it to the managers attention. He sent in a guy who said that they were not bed bugs (my brother has a PhD and does medical research and compared the bugs to photo and size on CDC website and was convinced). They moved his room and said they wouldn't rent the room until it had been addressed, and with 2 hours we saw other guests entering that room. I didn't see bugs in our room, but within a few days I was covered in bites from something... Overall it was poorly kept and disgusting. The only positive thing I can say is that we were not hassled about requesting a refund for the 2nd night. read more

Needed to stay here because I was evacuating from the fires in Clackamas county. Upon arrival I noticed that my room smelled like cigarettes, not the best but whatever. Talked to the owner at the front desk and showed him, he told me that it was the smell of the room and that there would be no issue on checkout. Day of checkout I notice a full grown adult BEDBUG in my bed. I bring this to the attention of the owner and he says he can only offer me 25% off my stay. That 30 dollars I "saved" has now gone into buying poison and detergent so I can wash every piece of clothing and every bag I brought in there. I have an open bed truck so I literally brought my whole life into that room to keep it safe. Now it's probably infested with larvae. Don't go here. They have not solved their bedbug issue and you will definitely wind up bringing those little buggers home. I stayed here on a business trip. My room was clean the staff was helpful, and breakfast ws nice. I got a great rate, and the room was clean, there was a king bed, a small table, and everything you would need. I like extra pillows and when I asked for more they didn't just give me one little one. They gave me 3 big fluffy pillows. The bed was a little harder than I like,but I was able to get up and walk along the river path, the staff told me about. I really enjoyed this stay. read more

When we first checked in we overlooked the dust on the entertainment center but when we started putting our things away that is when it got ugly ... Baskin Robbins carton in the fridge, moldy cup of noodles in the microwave, previously used bar of soap on the upper edge of the shower, non working phone, tons of coffee and sugars behind the fridge, only 1 tissue left in the tissue box, headboards dust coated and a/c didn't work well it was more like just a fan. Was booked for two nights, checked out after the first! Was told I would get a credit back on my card, hmmmm we will see! This is a budget motel, an updated Imperial 400 that was built 50 years ago. It's in keeping with motels of a similar vintage and economy. Room was clean and I was able to use the wi-fi. The bathrooms are cozy and meant for 1 person at a time. The breakfast is starch and carbs: cereal, bagels, waffles, and bananas. If you're going for a clean bed and a hot shower, this place works. If you want paintings on the walls and a mint on your pillow, you're in the wrong place. I would increase the rating if the price were dropped a bit. I would like to express my complete dissatisfaction for the customer service I received at the Pendleton Americas Best Value Inn. You truly don't get what you pay for here! My son's 10-11 Gresham OR All Star Baseball team made it to the State of Oregon Tournament that was hosted in Pendleton OR. In our excitement, our team quickly began to research hotel accommodations and the best deals where our players and families could all stay as a team. We went to the Pendleton Little League website and the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce website and noticed a number of hotels that were offering discounted rates to teams of the tournament. We were considering the Red Lion and then came across the discounted price quote of $69.99, plus tax at the Pendleton Americas Best Value Inn. We called to confirm that price and the front desk politely confirmed that we could stay for $69.99 per night, plus tax. Our entire team booked rooms at this hotel (at least 17 rooms were booked in all). Each family booked, paid and arrived at different times. When my husband checked in, he was verbally told $69.99 per night, plus tax and then slipped a bill to sign, which he did. Over the next couple day's word started to spread that some were charged $69.99 and some were charged $79.99. When we looked at the bill, we noticed we were charged $79.99, plus tax and not the $69.99 told on the phone or at check in. One family member that had come up later than everyone else, was actually charged $99.99, plus tax. Another guest, not with our group checking in at the same time received a rate of $42.99 for the same night. As I went to the front desk to try and reconcile what I thought would be an honest mistake on their end, the lady would not even look at me and said it was $79.99 and we signed the bills, so they would not adjust. I was frustrated, but left to talk to the others in my group to research further. Everyone started to share similar stories and confirmed their bills were different than what was quoted, even at check in. The next morning, myself and two other moms went in to try and resolve the issue again. We were again greeted with the same response and then the owner showed up. He started yelling at us and telling us to leave the property if we were unhappy. We told him we were customers, trying to resolve a discrepancy on our bills. He said we were only upset because we lost our baseball game. He then said he could change his prices from minute to minute and we should have looked at the bill before we signed it (agree). When we said we trusted that we received the rate we were quoted on the phone and at check, he said oh well! When we pointed to his sign that said they offer a price match guarantee and asked him to make the adjustment, he said he did not have to. It was his decision to charge us $79.99 per night and that was that. We asked why he would do this to a Little League Team on a budget? We asked why he would falsely advertise a price to get us to go there. He said we could have decided to stay somewhere else when we checked in, if we did not like the price. Who is going to pack up and go somewhere else at the last minute with kids in tow after your card has already been charged? A few seconds later a police officer arrived. While we were completely embarrassed, we were actually relieved to have someone of authority onsite. We went outside and explained our situation to the officer and he informed us that he has been called to the Pendleton America's Best Value Inn before and of the many places to stay in Pendleton, unfortunately this hotel is not one he would recommend. We explained how we came to find this hotel and he apologized and told us to dispute the charges with our credit card company, report them to the Better Business Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce and the Pendleton Little League. He was extremely helpful and we all went back to our rooms and began to pack up. As we did this, a worker was hiding in a vacant hotel room video-taping our children playing wiffle ball in the parking lot. The children all started to report this to their parents and were scared, so rather than go back to the front office and complain or call the police, we all made the decision to pack up quickly and leave before check out. I am pretty sure it is illegal to video tape a minor child without parent consent. We also felt compelled to take pictures of the hotel rooms as we left them in fear of additional charges that may be added fraudulently to our cards. We have reported this experience to the hotel chain, the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau and Pendleton Little League, as well as some surrounding businesses which have agreed not to advertise their services in the future. read more

I had a reservation for 4 rooms tonight. We drove all the way out from Seattle and notified the receptionist that we would show up around 1-2 am. Upon arrival we called reception and no one answered. We kept calling yet no one answered at all. We knocked on the door and no one came to respond. Now we're stuck without a room and no place to sleep. These people are not professional at all!! CLEAN! This place is a tremendous value. It is clean, spacious and equipped. The location is great for downtown access and access to big box shopping should you need it. Wi Fi great, breakfast good, service friendly and flexible, most nights very quiet (I, unfortunately, was plagued with a group of wrestlers next door one Sunday night before work and I do not think any hotel walls could muffle this sound-staff did respond to the uproar these guests caused). The River Trail is adjacent to the hotel so you can run or walk and explore the entire town if you keep on going. read more

Stopped in Pendleton on the way to the coast about a year ago, on they way there we stayed at this hotel. On the way back we stayed at Motel 6 (much better, please see my review of them). In short this place was nappy. Rooms smells like old sweat and only top sheet is replaced leaving the first layer sheet with stains and tons of hair in it. Super gross. read more

Did not stay at America's Best. Cancelled after reading reviews. So, in fairness, can't comment on the hotel itself. However folks need to be aware that, unlike most hotel chains, should you decide to cancel you must do so by 3:00 p.m. the day PRIOR to your stay. We didn't and ate it. read more

This place is great! We've stayed in worse and paid more. Clean room, comfy bed, fridge microwave and a new TV with more than average number of channels. Nice friendly staff and they even have a swimming pool. The only reason they lost a star with me is they advertise to be pet friendly but there is no where in the area that isn't paved or mulched for my puppies to pee. Our lab didn't pee for almost 12 hours straight because we had trained her to only go in grass. Other than that everything was great. Quiet and safe area too. read more
