Actually the Marais was the second tour after Montmartre yesterday. I would recommend both wholeheartedly. I've lived in Paris but realized how little I know or how much more there is to know. We got there early enough to have lunch and walk around a bit. At 2:30 we went over to the statue and sat on a bench to enjoy the sights and wait for our tour. at 3:20, no one had showed up with tickets. We called the tour provider and they said they had notified Viator that this specific tour was oversold and that we were moved to the 3:00 tour. NO ONE ever told us. ON top of that, we were at the location at 2:45 (the time they said we needed to get the tickets at the statue) and NO ONE was there. We called Viator and they said we were considered "late" and they could not refund us, despite the fact that we were way early. at 3:37 pm, we received an email from Viator saying that our tour had changed to 3:00 pm and we needed to be at the statue at 2:45. nearly an HOUR after the time we were supposed to be there, they notified us. However, we WERE there. Viator still claims they cannot refund our tickets. I'll add, the email they sent us had a 3:00pm timed ticket to enter Notre Dame on our own, but we received it 37 minutes too late. This was a once in a lifetime trip, and to miss such a highlight as Notre Dame, after we've taken so much time to plan ahead, and pay nearly $200 for this unique experience.

Great Way to See Most Significant Landmarks!…read more My friend and I were in Paris for only 4 days and wanted to hit all the highlights before heading out on the rest of our European vacation. We were lucky enough to stumble upon Paris Foot Walks after a few searches on the internet. Our tour guide for the day was Steven. Steven was very knowledgeable about not only the history of all the attractions, but the politics and cultural significance of each landmark. The Paris Foot Walks tour gave us a chance to get a cursory glance at what Paris had to offer. We were able to spend our remaining days spending time revisiting those landmarks we liked best instead of wasting valuable travel time trying to figure out what was interesting and what needed to be skipped. The approximately 3-hour and 4-5 mile walking tour began at the Arc de Triomphe and ended at the Louvre. It did not seem liked we walked that far as the tour was appropriately broken up with stops for coffee and bathroom breaks. Our tour guide informed us of how much it money would cost and how much time was necessary for each of the landmarks we were interested in exploring further. Definitely recommended. I am hoping to see these tours pop up in other locations.

I really like history, so I enjoyed the in-depth knowledge shared by our guide as we began with the Arc de Triomphe, proceeded to the Champs-Élysées, discovered the Louvre and more. A walking tour is certainly a commitment, but our guide was quite thoughtful, stopping frequently when he sensed we were getting tired, recommending pleasant places to sit, rest, and talk to others in the group. This is probably not an activity for elderly individuals who have difficulty getting around, or for children who will need to be carried. I think you could do the tour fairly easily with a stroller. The walk is not difficult--but you do go some distance, and you have to cross streets and navigate sidewalks with other pedestrians. My wife and I both agreed that we would take a tour with Paris Foot Walks again. My next choice would be the Wine, Beer & Conversation tour, which just looks like a great evening out in Paris!

April 11, Montmartre Pastry and Chocolate Food Tour, Paris…read more Our family of four with a son 9 and daughter 10 did a pastry and chocolate tour through Montmartre and it ended up being a really fun way to explore the area. Arrival and First Impressions The group was small, just our family and another family, which worked out well. The shops we visited were tiny so taking turns going in and out was part of the experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and walked us through side streets, small parks, and local spots we would never have found on our own. The Highlights We stopped at six different locations including chocolatiers, bakeries, and pastry shops. Highlights included a choux pastry, crepes, madeleines, artisan eclairs, and multiple chocolate tastings. The final stop for hot chocolate and macarons was excellent. The macarons were so good we ended up buying some to bring home. The tour was not just about food. We saw the Love Wall, hidden streets, and learned about the history of Montmartre including small details about the neighborhood that made it feel more personal. The Challenges The guide did not have a very loud voice so in a bigger group it might have been harder to follow, but with our small group it worked fine. Would We Return Yes, especially to try a different tour. It was a great mix of food and exploring. Final Thoughts This tour is a great way to experience Montmartre beyond just walking around. The combination of food, history, and hidden locations made it a memorable and worthwhile experience.

Their ticket purchasing process is misleading and unethical. You go about filling our information,…read morelike you do for many websites, but unlike any other website, you hit the "Next" button (for the third time) and suddenly you have purchased the ticket, without any opportunity to review your tour date, number of participants or even credit card info. All the previous "Next" buttons led to the next step in the process, as is implied by the word and as you would expect, but not this one - it is the final confirmation of purchase even though there is NO indication that this is about to happen. Then they tell you that there are no refunds under any circumstances and that the credit and ticketing laws do not apply to them. Perhaps this is because they are based in Cyprus, which I assume they have chosen precisely to evade regulations. Note that they say there are no refunds no matter what - even if your overall trip gets cancelled or the tour gets cancelled or the guide does not show up. Be very careful, or better yet, avoid these folks and do any of the other more legitimate tours out there for wherever you are travelling to.

Exactly at 0800 our guide, Quentin, arrived at our hotel with our driver in a new Porsche Panamera sedan for our trip to Versailles. Quentin was personable, friendly, and a wealth of information about Versailles. He handled all the arrangements and escorted us throughout virtually all of the accessible areas of the palace. He had also arranged for our lunch at Ducasse (yes, an Alain Ducasse restaurant located within the Versailles palace - see separate review of the restaurant, under Ore - Ducasse au Chateau de Versailles - spoiler - very, very good). Quentin had an amazing range of knowledge about the palace and about the furnishings and artwork throughout. He was highly informative without overloading us with too much detail, and where appropriate, he simply got us to another amazing location and let us look around for ourselves. His special guide permit allowed him (and us) to enter many of the rooms that require separate tickets to enter, and we bypassed some bunches of visitors through doors only accessible by licensed Versailles guides. We visited on a cold January day (high was 40F that day) and that kept the crowds away. Quentin kept exclaiming that he had never seen so few visitors in Versailles. That was great for us, as we never felt crowded and in fact were all by ourselves in some of the rooms of the palace. Following a great lunch, Quentin escorted us to the Petite Trianon and to the fantasy village built for Marie Antoinette. Quentin pointed out how the palace, the Parc de Versailles, the landscaping were all carefully designed to awe visitors. Most visitors would never know how the hill that leads from the palace down to the statute of Apollo is designed to trick the eye and make new surprising vistas appear as you progress. Or how the lake was designed to make it feel much longer and farther through subtle engineering. We also would never have known all the inside meta-symbology is spread throughout the palace and the art. All the associations with Apollo for Louis XIV (the "Sun King") hidden within the columns, wall and ceiling decorations mean a lot more when you know why they are designed that way. After a full day of Versailles palace, Petit Trianon, and Marie Antoinette's fantasy village, we were glad to see our driver waiting for us on a street right next to the fantasy village, so we didn't need to hike a mile back to the palace parking areas. We had a nice ride back to our hotel. Highly recommended - we had an exceptional time. Quentin was a wonderful tour guide, and we appreciated his excellent English and encyclopedic knowledge of Versailles and the history of the French aristocracy.

My wife and I took the Notre Dame - The Full Experience tour with Marie…read more Booking the food tour was very easy through the website, we were contacted immediately through email by Bertrand confirming our information. The food tour started at 10am. My wife and I were in a group with two others and our tour guide, Marie. The tour was thought through well. The idea was basically to eat like Parisians for the day which I was super excited about. Also, Marie grew up in Paris, and moved around to multiple arrondissements which is really helpful because each area is different, and she has experienced cultures of each of the areas. We started off with breakfast at a local coffee shop. We grabbed a quick coffee and went on our way. On the tour there was a variety of sweets and bakery items for breakfast. In between each of our visits to each of the local shops, Marie covered some of the history of Paris. After breakfast, we took a longer walk, seeing some sights around the area. We then went to pick up a baguette, cheese, and meat for our lunch. At the cheese shop, we were able to sample a variety of cheeses along with purchase multiple cheeses for our lunch which was to come. We ended up at a local wine shop that only sold organic wines. Marie prepared the cheeses and meats and the wine shop owner selected a wine for us. He also showed us how to properly drink the wine. He was quite the character. Lots of opinions and was very straightforward. I thought he was great! I'm not a huge fan of wine, but wow was the wine he chose for us good. I had wine again tonight, and it definitely did not taste as clean and pure as the wine he served us. We sat in the wine store and had bread, cheese, meats, and wine for the remainder of the tour. The tour cost a little less than $100 per person, but if you are a foodie I think it's definitely worth it. I mean you get to eat like a Parisian for a day. I would have never found some of those little stores that Marie had led us to. Marie was also very friendly and made everyone feel very comfortable. It was like we were among friends. During the whole tour, we did not feel rushed. We took our time at each of the different locations and really enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely recommend this food tour for those who enjoy food and are adventurous. This was definitely one of my favorite things we have done on our trip to Europe.
