Brice is very friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. He allowed ample time at each vineyard and was a great translator. He did a great job at picking out 3 very different vineyards. We stopped at a larger producer to have whites, went on to have a fabulous lunch with fresh cheeses and salad, tried wines from the barrel at different stages and then headed to some caves at a smaller producer that had a lovely combination of reds and whites. Our tour was so perfect we engaged him for a second tour, of Reims and Champagne region. Luiz took us to the historical Notre Dame of Reims where we got a little history lesson and then off to a larger facility that produces champagne (Mumm) where we got a very in depth tour and background of how traditional champagne is made. The highlight was a stop for a toast in some vineyards with a special bottle he selected of one of his favorites. At our last stop, Robert Allait we were able to try a variety of champagnes. Both tours were a highlight of our whole trip because of Luiz. He is passionate about what he does, thoughtful and a wonderful educator. My friends and I are trying to figure out how to take him on a trip to Italy .

After confirming pick up times and details via…read morephone the day before, Wine Passport showed up over an hour late and didn't have a proper seat for me in the van. The vehicle was ENTIRELY FULL and they had a small flip down seat in between the driver and the front seat passenger and I was told "The van is very full today, I hope this is ok." It wasn't ok with me for a 2 hour drive to Champagne and because I had paid just as much as anyone else in the van and didn't have a proper seat or safety belt. I elected not to go on the tour because the seating wasn't acceptable (or safe) and the guide apologized for the lateness and the less than ideal seating and told me he'd "try" to get the operator to refund me but he wasn't optimistic. What was worse than the disappointment of the lateness and lack of a real seat in the vehicle was when I raised the issue with Viator to try and get a refund after the operator never returned my call is that the operator lied about almost every detail. About the time communicated for pick up, about the actual arrival time of pickup, about the seating situation they offered, and even told them I got into the van and was "unpleasant with the guide and then got out." which was totally untrue as I never even got in the vehicle. Miscommunications and misunderstandings happen, especially in different cultures - but lying to make a case against not refunding a fee for a tour you never gave is unacceptable anywhere. If you feel justified in not refunding, why lie? What do you lose by refunding for a tour that was never taken? The good thing is Viator took care of me and refunded but it still stings to know these guys are that dishonest and don't care because they know that tourists either wont complain and deal with it or will need to leave the country and why should they bother? Be aware when booking with these operators and get all terms in writing. If terms dont meet what booking promised, take pictures and save all correspondence, as they'll lie and call you "unpleasant" and keep your money.

We tasted 4 glasses of champagne there and a liquor. Lunch was tasty and, there were just the 7 of us there. We had a chicken and rice dish with gravy, a tart with berries and fresh whipped cream for dessert, and finally, local cheeses with french baguettes. Next, we visited another local champagne house where we did a tour and learned so much more about the region and co-ops. We then tried 4-5 different champagnes. From booking through execution, we were just thrilled that we decided to splurge on this experience. Given the short time we were in Paris and all that we wanted to do, Preston was able to arrange a combo tasting for us that took us to a private wine cellar to learn about and taste some incredible small production champagnes, a wine shop to try a selection of red and white wines with cheeses and meats, and lastly to a bustling local wine bar to get a flavor for how the locals enjoy a glass of wine with friends. It was an experience that ranks among our favorites during all our travels, with the added bonus that we have returned home and used our new found knowledge to buy some wines that remind of us of time in the City of Lights! Overall, we were thrilled both with how much we learned, with how gracious, informed and truly personable Preston was and of course, with the wonderful wines and champagnes. April 11, Montmartre Pastry and Chocolate Food Tour, Paris…read more Our family of four with a son 9 and daughter 10 did a pastry and chocolate tour through Montmartre and it ended up being a really fun way to explore the area. Arrival and First Impressions The group was small, just our family and another family, which worked out well. The shops we visited were tiny so taking turns going in and out was part of the experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and walked us through side streets, small parks, and local spots we would never have found on our own. The Highlights We stopped at six different locations including chocolatiers, bakeries, and pastry shops. Highlights included a choux pastry, crepes, madeleines, artisan eclairs, and multiple chocolate tastings. The final stop for hot chocolate and macarons was excellent. The macarons were so good we ended up buying some to bring home. The tour was not just about food. We saw the Love Wall, hidden streets, and learned about the history of Montmartre including small details about the neighborhood that made it feel more personal. The Challenges The guide did not have a very loud voice so in a bigger group it might have been harder to follow, but with our small group it worked fine. Would We Return Yes, especially to try a different tour. It was a great mix of food and exploring. Final Thoughts This tour is a great way to experience Montmartre beyond just walking around.
