We were thrilled to learn that when we were in Paris, we were only 2 hours by car or 45 minutes by train from the Champagne Region! We wanted a tour to be more than just tasting champagne, we wanted to learn from the efforts in the vineyard fields to the processing of the grapes, to the final product. And we wanted a small group experience. I had high expectations of Paris Champagne Tour and the schedule of what we saw and did and our guide, Trong's excellent sharing of his extensive knowledge and passion of all aspects of the making of champagne, exceeded our expectations! We loved our time standing among the vines learning how the vines are cared for, how pests and fungi are managed with environmental, sustainable methods, and how the grapes are harvested was a highlight for me. This was done surrounded by the beauty of many acres of vines just outside the village of Verzenay. Within Verzenay, we visited a small producer and learned of the exacting process from extraction to bottling. We tasted 3 wonderful champagnes there. Next was an exquisite 3-course lunch at Au Petit Comptoir in Reims followed by a tour of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame of Reims with Trong again sharing his vast knowledge with us. Finally a visit of a large champagne estate, Pommery, including Trong sharing the history of Pommery, a tour of their chalk caves 30 meters below ground level, and a champagne testing which included a pink champagne and the famous Biscuit Rose de Reims! When we made our reservations, I can say that Michelle of Paris Champagne Tour took care to answer all our questions with quick replies. The pick-up and drop off in Paris was also important to us. We had particular issues as we were on a Viking longship along the Seine so not at a downtown Paris hotel/vrbo. Yet they accommodated us beyond our expectations. From the moment we met Trong and our 5 other fellow-passengers, started our journey to the Champagne region enjoying coffee and fresh pastries in the van, to the small details of providing us with quintessential French Madeleines and even postcards of the cathedral with stamps, all details, big and small, again, exceeded our expectations. en visiting Paris this is a must do tour! What an intimate experience. We were a group of 4 with one other couple. Very small group with all the small special inclusions. We were picked up from our hotel in Paris and greeted with hot coffee/tea and delicious French pastries. Arriving in Champagne we got out and were taught all about the actual vineyards and tasting some of the grapes. Trong, our tour guide added a special note frequently along the trip about our Thanksgiving in the US. We had mistle toe and holly. His wife made us a Thanksgiving treat as well. We arrived in the small village of Champagne and stopped at Moet & Chandon. Jean Claude Mouzon, who only spoke French, gave us a tour of his small family owned facility. We tasted many champagnes and of course bought many bottles. We then drove to Reims where we went to a larger facility and had a delicious lunch at a small restaurant. We had time to visit Reims and see a beautiful cathedral. I was able to light a candle for my son. This trip is exactly what we were looking for. Champagne lies only 90 miles from Paris. Amazing tour, our guide Trong was knowledgeable and interesting. Being picked up and brought back to the hotel was very appreciated and breakfast in the van was filled with croissant, chocolatine, juice and coffee. The drive to champagne is a little less than 2 hours and the scenery on the way is beautiful. We went directly into the vines of champagne and Trong explained the different types of grapes and even showed us how to cut them and know which ones are ok to eat. We visited Cuperly who produce very good and well priced champagne and the tasting was very generous. We had a delicious lunch with champagne and wine and then went to visit Pommery. Our guide was generous in his explanations and attentions. This is a tour I would highly recommend and do again. This was one of the best tours I've ever taken. I'm so glad that we decided to do our Champagne Tour with Trong. His knowledge was incredible and he made the experience incredibly memorable. When you're on this tour, you quickly ascertain that no other tour would have provided what this one did. We were picked up from our Hotel in Paris, driven out to the Champagne region, given a spectacular lunch, toured 2 champagne houses and given some amazing history lessons along the way. Just a short 2-hour drive from Paris (or a quick 45-minute train trip!) our day in the Champagne region around Reims was UTTERLY UNEXPECTED and the perfect way to celebrate running the London Marathon with friends! We were picked up straight from our hotel with delicious coffee and pastries, and dropped back later with our champagnes perfectly chilled to enjoy afterwards. Trong was incredibly informative and genuinely passionate about champagne and the region, which made the whole experience even more special. Looking for a fantastic all-inclusive day trip to Champagne from Paris? Look no further, this intimate tour has it all! Starting with pickup from your hotel, breakfast on route, vineyards stop, and a visit to a local champagne house (Cuperly) that included a tour and tastings sure made for an enjoyable morning! Then it was off to lunch for a delicious 3 course artisan meal (wine included) at a local restaurant. After lunch we visited the remarkable Reims Cathedral and then we were off to the impressive Pommery and the Pommery caves before returning to Paris. I have enjoyed the Paris Champagne Tour 4 times, with Trong as guide. It has again been the highlight of our trip to Paris. It is a fantastic day out, a full day to explore beautiful countryside, culture and of course champagne! And it is so very accessible from the city, with a pick up directly from our apartment door, only 1.5 hours till we arrived in the vineyards. We had a very informative tour, with gererous champagne sampling. Fabulous lunch in Reims, with wine, and then a visit to the breathtaking cathedral. Amazing day trip from Paris! What a pretty way to learn about the region of Champagne within easy reach from Paris! We got picked up and it was only a bit less than 2 hours drive from my hotel. The tour is a combination of an intimate and personal visit at a small champagne producer and a visit at large well-known Champagne Estate. Lunch and the Reims cathedral were also the highlights of the tour. Lastly, the payment was only done at the very end of the tour by credit card. The tour was all-inclusive. We loved our Champagne tour! Our guide, Trong, was absolutely amazing and full of knowledge about the region, the people, & the history. The attention to detail and care was noticeable. It was a highlight of our trip to Paris to get a sense of authenticate French culture & history. Of course, the Champagne was amazing too!
