Brice is very friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. He allowed ample time at each vineyard and was a great translator. He did a great job at picking out 3 very different vineyards. April 11, Montmartre Pastry and Chocolate Food Tour, Paris…read more Our family of four with a son 9 and daughter 10 did a pastry and chocolate tour through Montmartre and it ended up being a really fun way to explore the area. Arrival and First Impressions The group was small, just our family and another family, which worked out well. The shops we visited were tiny so taking turns going in and out was part of the experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and walked us through side streets, small parks, and local spots we would never have found on our own. The Highlights We stopped at six different locations including chocolatiers, bakeries, and pastry shops. Highlights included a choux pastry, crepes, madeleines, artisan eclairs, and multiple chocolate tastings. The final stop for hot chocolate and macarons was excellent. The macarons were so good we ended up buying some to bring home. The tour was not just about food. We saw the Love Wall, hidden streets, and learned about the history of Montmartre including small details about the neighborhood that made it feel more personal. The Challenges The guide did not have a very loud voice so in a bigger group it might have been harder to follow, but with our small group it worked fine. Would We Return Yes, especially to try a different tour. It was a great mix of food and exploring. Final Thoughts This tour is a great way to experience Montmartre beyond just walking around. The combination of food, history, and hidden locations made it a memorable and worthwhile experience.

I bought my tickets way ahead of time (more than a month) and paid online. Although it's not required, I didn't have a flexible schedule so I needed to have a reservation. I also wanted to time it to see the sparkling lights which only occur at the top of certain hours after sunset, and only for 5 min. Other boats are bigger and are just first come first serve. There are many many other river cruise companies you can choose from. This one just worked out for us because we were staying nearby and could walk.

I chose Vendettes du Point Neuf due to its proximity to the area where I was staying. It was easy to reach on the Metro as it's located on Point Neuf which is a tip of the Ile de la Cite island that Notre Dame is located on. In this case, I decided just to walk on. It was early May and I sensed that there would be plenty of room available and I was right. I arrived at 2:08 pm and immediately got on the 2:15 pm tour at a cost of 17€. I found out they have a tour boat that leaves every thirty minutes for the one hour tour. We left promptly on time sitting on top of the open air uncovered deck with great unobstructed views. The boat has a drink and snack bar on board in addition to water closets for the guests. The boat moves at about 10 miles an hour and circled the Ile de la Cite island with great views of Notre Dame and then proceed down the river passing the Orsay Museum and continuing all of the way down to the Eiffel Tower for more great views of it, There we turned around and proceeded back to the starting point arriving one hour after leaving. It was an enjoyable cruise. The weather was comfortably cool and the narrator on board did a good job of describing everything that we passed by. At the end he does stand at the exit hoping for a tip. I felt the cruise was well worth the cost and would recommend it depending on the weather.

When we got into the van, he asked what we had seen already and what we wanted to see. Based on this itinerary, Frédéric figured out a route to see everything with minimal traffic woes in four hours. Okay so let's talk dinner cruises and what you're paying for…read more 1) First and foremost you're paying for the captain and crew to safely navigate the ship. When you take a look at the length of these vessels, the current in the river, the narrowness of the waterway and how they twist the ship in these conditions- they're impressive ship handlers. And on top of it all, they time it to make sure your first view of the Eiffel Tower is as it starts sparkling. Brilliant. 2) The food. Now most dinner cruises aren't actually known for their food. This wasn't my favorite meal of the trip, but it was damn good. And when you realize there's a staff below cranking out these options in a galley below decks while under way, there's some mad respect for the quality they're able to achieve. 3) The experience. There's live music and there's great views. All in all... you sit back and just enjoy the sites. Just remember... the more you pay for your menu, the closer you sit to the windows. But hey, that's why you came right? Anyways, is this a total tourist trap- hell yes. But I wouldn't have it any other way. It was pricey, but I certainly didn't feel ripped off. And watching my son's eyes light up the first time he saw the Eiffel Tower at night was worth every penny.

We did seem to leave a bit too late (we were on time with the scheduled time but I think it should have been earlier) so it was pretty dark when we left and we didn't really get to see any sunset, mostly just twilight and the dark. There also isn't any narration and an optional audio guide might have been nice. Finally, I found it pretty hard to see any of Notre Dame from the bottom deck. These improvements would make this experience better but it was still great and the price is reasonable. Some tips: sit on the left side of the boat (when facing forward) for the best Eiffel Tower views and consider sitting on the top for even better views into everything. Dress warmly if it is the fall or winter as it does get pretty cold since you're on the water. To find the pier, use Google maps- it is well marked and the directions to get there are good.

I booked a trip to the Champagne region thru Viator. After confirming pick up times and details via…read morephone the day before, Wine Passport showed up over an hour late and didn't have a proper seat for me in the van. The vehicle was ENTIRELY FULL and they had a small flip down seat in between the driver and the front seat passenger and I was told "The van is very full today, I hope this is ok." It wasn't ok with me for a 2 hour drive to Champagne and because I had paid just as much as anyone else in the van and didn't have a proper seat or safety belt. I elected not to go on the tour because the seating wasn't acceptable (or safe) and the guide apologized for the lateness and the less than ideal seating and told me he'd "try" to get the operator to refund me but he wasn't optimistic. What was worse than the disappointment of the lateness and lack of a real seat in the vehicle was when I raised the issue with Viator to try and get a refund after the operator never returned my call is that the operator lied about almost every detail. About the time communicated for pick up, about the actual arrival time of pickup, about the seating situation they offered, and even told them I got into the van and was "unpleasant with the guide and then got out." which was totally untrue as I never even got in the vehicle. Miscommunications and misunderstandings happen, especially in different cultures - but lying to make a case against not refunding a fee for a tour you never gave is unacceptable anywhere. If you feel justified in not refunding, why lie? What do you lose by refunding for a tour that was never taken? The good thing is Viator took care of me and refunded but it still stings to know these guys are that dishonest and don't care because they know that tourists either wont complain and deal with it or will need to leave the country and why should they bother? Be aware when booking with these operators and get all terms in writing. If terms dont meet what booking promised, take pictures and save all correspondence, as they'll lie and call you "unpleasant" and keep your money.

He's a great teacher and loves to share his knowledge (no question is dumb). The whole day was awesome and we learned so much. Richard picked my husband and me up from our hotel (the Westin) around 7:30 AM. There were two other couples in the car so, 6 of us total! Once you got out of the city, driving in the region was beautiful. We stopped at Moet Chandon first to tour a big name producer. We tasted a glass of champagne there and were on our way to visit Dom Perignon's grave/ beautiful church. Next, we went to a lovely local champagne house for lunch. We tasted 4 glasses of champagne there and a liquor. Lunch was tasty and, there were just the 7 of us there. We had a chicken and rice dish with gravy, a tart with berries and fresh whipped cream for dessert, and finally, local cheeses with french baguettes. Next, we visited another local champagne house where we did a tour and learned so much more about the region and co-ops. We then tried 4-5 different champagnes. We arrived back at our hotel around 5ish and just beat traffic. We loved the tour and would absolutely recommend to family and friends.Thanks Richard!!! TIP: Consider bringing an energy drink to make sure you can fully enjoy the final champagne house- our van started to get sleepy post lunch and trying champagne all morning!
