Had a wonderful time. Great company. We did the Versailles and Giverny tour. It was even better than expected.

I look forward to returning someday to see the restored structure. I am also reminded of a review that is long overdue. My wife and I went to Paris from the United States for the first time but were only able to visit for three days. Because of the short visit, we wished to see as many of the famous Parisian sites as possible. We arranged for a day of sightseeing to visit the Louvre, the Eifel Tour and Notre Dame Cathedral. Our personal tour guide for the day was Sylvanie. You could not ask for a more personable and knowledgeable escort for our journey. Sylvanie was absolutely amazing in her knowledge of everything Parisian as well of her intimate knowledge of the tourist locations. Not only was Sylvanie able to intelligently answer my wife's (who has studied art) questions, she was able to also answer my (no art history what-so-ever) relative simple questions. When I ask why the Mona Lisa is such a popular painting when there are so many more beautiful works in the Louvre, she tells the complete history of exactly why the painting is such a tourist draw (Actually quite an interesting story. You should ask her). When my wife asks about the painting on the opposite wall, the Feast at Cana, Sylvanie doesn't miss a beat and has a vivid story about how France came into possession of this work of art. Our trip to the Notre Dame Cathedral was equally impressive. Her knowledge of the art and history of the cathedral was astounding. I have been remembering quite a lot of my time at the cathedral as I have been watching the news reports of the fire. My wife and I were able to understand so much more of the history through Sylvanie's stories than had we simply gone on our own. Everything about our day was perfectly planned by Sylvanie and was executed seamlessly. She had arranged for car service for us and each time the car arrived shortly after our exit at each location. Our admission to each attraction was pre-purchased by Sylvanie prior to our arrival and we simply followed her into each location and felt like VIPs. It is obvious that Sylvanie worked hard prior to our arrival to make sure that our day was perfect. That sort of perfection does not come easily. My wife and I simply fell in love with Paris and will be returning soon. When we return, we will definitely use Sylvanie's services again. We could not have asked for a more perfect day and her fees were actually quite reasonable. We had a private tour with a lovely extremely knowledgeable tour guide for what it would otherwise cost for a group tour. I would recommend her to anybody wishing to see the sites Paris has to offer.

My friend and I loved our day with Sylvanie so much that we went out on a second, smaller tour with her another day. The approach to the entrance felt significant, with the glass pyramid acting as a central anchor point surrounded by courtyards, wings, and long stretches of stone façades that hinted at the scale of what was inside. The building combines historic palace architecture with vast modern exhibition spaces. Inside, the experience unfolded through sheer size more than anything else. Galleries branched in multiple directions, each holding different periods and regions, from ancient civilizations to classical European art. I moved through long corridors and open halls, sections that shifted in both atmosphere and lighting depending on the collection. One moment I was in a dimly lit room of Greek antiquities, the next I was under bright skylights surrounded by French paintings. Even without focusing on individual works, the density of what is housed here was immediately noticeable. The layout encouraged wandering rather than a strict path, and I found it easy to lose track of time moving between rooms, staircases, and open gathering areas. Some sections felt busier and more compressed, especially around the most famous works. Other areas opened up into quieter pockets where the scale of the building became more apparent. I appreciated those quiet moments the most.

We arrived an hour early and was second in line so we got to be one of the first to see the Mona Lisa right as they opened and were able to get as close as the public can get. The museum is closed to the public every Tuesday. We walked through the day before and it seemed that groups in conferences is what goes on during those Tuesdays that they're closed. I booked our tickets 2 months in advance, and was able to get the opening day slot for two. And just 20 minutes after opening, the room 711 in the Denon Wing where the Mona Lisa is, got packed. You can spend the whole day here and still not have seen everything. There are multiple floors filled with art work, and luckily there are elevators. There's also a small cafe, and restaurant on the first level, and then another cafe at the second. At the exit it almost turns into a mall of shops and eateries. So it might take you another hour past when you thought you'd be exiting. You definitely want good walking shoes, cuz you'll loose track of how far you walked, even after 3 hours.

In less than 30 minutes we were at Palais Garnier(opera house) in the heart of Paris. She elegantly led through the streets instilling all her knowledge of Paris and France. Janice sat me down with a cafe ole, and proceeded to inform me all about; neighborhoods, cafes, cabs, taxis, trains and the very important Paris metro system. Since my trip was to south she was in charge of getting me on to my train without fail, with threats of a national Rail Strike. My guide ensured me that I will get to my final destination and beyond. Without fail I was on a High Speed train to Lourdes France to begin a truly remarkable vacation, and by the time I got back to Paris I felt like an expert in getting around. We first skyped with Sharon and Rich to plan out our trip, mainly to find the best out of the way places. We started the trip with a personal Airport pickup. Then we spent the next 4 days on some great private tours. First the Montmartre art & culture tour, then the Marais shopping tour (my wife designed her own perfume scent), then the Tuileries Waterlilies & Hot Chocolate Tour (love that Angelina's Hot Chocolate). But the best part though, was when Janice (a Jazz singer her self) took us on a custom Jazz music tour to the best out of the way Jazz venues, and gave us the low down on the Paris Jazz culture. We also wanted to to Marianne's private gallery tour, but the timing was not right. We'll do that one the next time, and probably the Cheese market tour, and (maybe) the 'Gotta Dance' tour. Thanks Rich and americanconcierge.com. We'll see you next time we're in Paris.
