Simon rocked it. We did the "Hidden Paris" tour with our 2 kids (9 and 11) and it was a highlight of our trip. There hadn't been many tours because of COVID and we felt privileged to get such an awesome experience. Simon made it a really special time full of laughs...and took some awesome pics and videos for us. He took us on a couple extra special adventures that were only possible with so few tourists in the city! It was absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend the tour to anyone and everyone! See Paris on a bike! It is like nothing else.

Cycle to arc de triomphe... Approx 30min

Bike about tours also rents out bikes. I decided to rent a bike for a day. Was great fun. I reserved via email. Arriving at peloton cafe, had to register amd provide id card (as deposit). And then i was off. Overall, had a great time cycling through town. What i liked: -nice staff -good bikes (3gears, good workijg break). -by cycling i was free to go whereever i liked A nice route:paris plage, obelisk, champs elysees, arc de triomphe, trocadero, eifel tower, rue moufetard, rue cremmueux, cimetier pere lachaise, and- if you have energue left-, sacre coeur. For those who are not used in cycling in traffic, download the map of paris cycling lanes and stick to these lanes. Parisian car drivers are definitely not used to cyclist.

    Great pictures everywhere .

Best time we had in Paris in Europe. I know that is a big statement to make but is so true . I found this tour while searching the web for things to do in Paris I came across Jay Swanson's You Tube link, I have to give him credit for making our time in Paris so much better. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHwVc_PxdiCnfXhsLw2zplQ Anyway back to the tour , I have never paid for a tour and after doing this one, I plan to do them more often. It was really great with all the planes, trains, and boats we traveled on all over Europe to show up here and not have to worry about being anywhere for the day. After a few train rides we all got on bikes and followed the tour guide around and listened to some history, had a picnic under some trees, toured a castle, and met people from all over the world. pro tips = 1. wear comfortable shoes and clothes , I would suggest gym clothes. 2.bring euros to spend = you meet up early at their shop and you can get a drink and a snack, then you will need cash to buy food for the picnic. I would suggest 50 3. for the picnic = the tour guide will suggest 3 different places to buy meat then cheese then bread. I would suggest to ask for a place that sells already made sandwiches so you are not piecing the sandwich together at the picnic on the ground with your hands. 4. Bring a backpack = trust me on this = if you are staying in a hotel bring a towel from the hotel to place on the ground for your picnic or find a disposable table cloth or something to spread everything out on , also some sort of disposable silverware to slice your bread to make your sandwich in case you can not find pre-made sandwiches pro tip for the owners = 1.when giving the history lessons try to do this in the shade . 2.work with the vendors at the market to get pre-made sandwiches for the picnic 3 have the tour guide bring some sort of light blanket to place on the ground for your customers to sit on while picnicking. Small thing I know but imagine if you put all those together how much better an experience this would be.

The bike tour exceeded our expectations. We went into this to get a better feel of the city on our second day in Paris and we where taken to the most beautiful places that we would not have been able to find within a few hours on foot. Our tour guide, Emma, was one of the reasons why we loved the tour and would recommend her highly. She was informative, organized, and made it fun. It's an overall great experience to anyone that wants to discover and get a better understanding of the heart of Paris.

A picnic on the grounds of Versailles is the perfect stop on our tour.

Sit down before you read this, because it's a math lesson on awesomeness. Great coffee + bike tours around Paris and surrounding areas × tour guides with amazing personalities and knowledge + laughs = Bike About Tours. From beginners to advanced cyclists, you'll enjoy seeing Paris or Versailles with these folks. Professional, engaging, and even a bit of humor tossed in...this is the way to enjoy Paris. My wife and I took the Versailles tour and we are already trying to find time to take another tour. We not only received knowledge of the sights, with some unique perspectives, but were guided to the best places in the market to buy all our picnic accoutrements. Wine - Check. Cheese - avoid the cranky lady and go to the Lady who speaks not only English, but "I speak Cheese" - Check. Crepes- Check. This is the best way to see Versailles. Our guide was Mark - a crazy Irishman with a certain je ne sais quoi. He made the day fun, safe, with a few laughs along the way. PRO TIP: the meeting point for your tours is also the owners of Le Peloton Cafe. (See my review on them for some more awesomeness). Start off with a cup of incredible coffee, a slice of carrot cake or a homemade waffle, and get ready for a day of fun. BONUS TIP: ask about their NIGHT bike tour of Paris. (I think it's called the Twinkle Tour. ;-) OK, math test is over. Please put down your pencils and pick up the phone and call these guys to book your tour. They will not disappoint.

We loved our experience with Bike About Tours!!! Our tour guide Charlotte was amazing: very personable, friendly, and filled with great information we'll remember even after our trip. Although the tour is about 4 hours, it went by really quickly and we weren't exhausted by the end. I always felt safe during the tour! She did a great job explaining our route and making gestures so we knew where to follow. Only a few main roads during the course, they've perfected their route to make sure we are safe and comfortable. Overall would definitely recommend this company and this tour for your time in Paris!

We took the Versaille's tour with Bike About Tours - Dan was our guide. He made it easy for our group. We were all Americans and appreciated his excellent English along with knowledge of French history. The owners are awesome as well. Very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend Bike About Tours.

I was just hoping for a bike tour through locals-only bike territory around Paris but what we experienced was so much more. Bianca was a delightful informative guide. We biked- we saw- we experienced-and OMG we learned something! Afterwards We walked around and looked at things with a different perspective. Additionally, We felt confident to rent the bikes from a VELIB bike station and explore some more....although I did get kicked out of the Jardin des Tuileries...oops. We hope to do the tour of Versailles next time. Highly recommended.

We couldn't believe we'd found a nearby shop carrying road bikes at a decent price (45E the first day and 20E after). (A specialty road-bike-rental competitor was way on the south edge of town & 60E/30E.) AlloVelo isn't really a road-bike store (all-purpose neighborhood bike store), so the selection isn't huge, but it got us through (1-2 each 49cm, 52cm, 55cm, etc.). Sadly, they didn't carry any extra stems, so there was no swap available to adjust the fit. The owner was very generous about what hours counted as a "day" (take it the night before, return it the morning after) and very flexible about duration ("keep it longer and pay me the rest when you return it"). That said...the bikes were not well-maintained. God bless the owner for keeping a bike shop in the neighborhood, but I think he has emotionally "checked out" of his business. Many aspects of the business had a low-cost, low-effort vibe. The tires on both bikes were dangerously bald and pockmarked. The tubes (conventional pump-up) had, for some reason, been glued into the tires. (To get more life instead of throwing the tube away?) We had our first explosive flat within the first 2 miles. (Pinch flat.) The glue didn't exactly make changing the tube easy. Then there were the slow leaks. More like medium leaks - "get to the Bois de Boulogne, pump up, ride, pump up, limp back into town, pump up..." But you never know when lack of maintenance on tires and tubes can develop from a nuisance into a danger, which is why they should be kept better-maintained. And the dirt on the chains ... wow. Chains should be kept silver, not black like ours. It takes a lot of work, but that's part of why rental bikes cost a lot of money. We took our bikes in mid-rental for a cleaning and were told they weren't dirty. Someone gave them a quick dash of lube and one or two rubs and insisted they were clean. So we bought oil-based lube from them and said we'd do it ourselves. We got the chains silver again but turned two hotel washcloths completely black (sorry!). You know the size dirt-clump that comes out of the treads of your shoe after you've gone hiking and let the mud dry? That's the size of black grease-debris clump falling out of the chains as we rubbed them down with a rag. As a testament to the bikes and what maintenance the shop does do, they shifted tolerably before and reasonably well after the cleaning. The brakes worked. We got through! And you probably could, too, if you don't mind doing the maintenance the shop didn't. But if this sounds like a bit much for you, sadly, as of early 2016, AlloVelo is probably not the road-bike rental store for you. (Also, funny story...as we bought the oil, we asked if they could sell us water bottles. They brought us two for free. Neat! And...asked us to return them with the bikes. At which point we realized they were "rental water bottles" and, given the state of the chain cleaning ... eww. We thanked them, took the bottles with us ... and bought some grocery-store bottled water to carry in our back pockets. All around, we got the impression that AlloVelo's idea of good customer service meant "low cost to the customer." They're nice folks ... they're just not for people who are finicky about their bike rentals.) Note: 3 reviews about the shop itself (all 1-star & in French) are marked hidden. I suspect the owner may have flagged them as "inappropriate." I read French fluently, and they're not vindictive reviews - just dissatisfied. Similarly, I'm giving honest feedback because I genuinely want the neighborhood to have a shop people can be happy with. I would have given this review 2 stars (at road speeds, particularly while group-riding, bike chains and tires are a matter of safety), but am hoping that 3 stars will give my feedback a better chance of survival. To the owner: I bear you no ill will and hope that this review will stay up and be the beginning of some changes to make customers happier. Good luck in your endeavors.
