We rented a 10 ft. container when we moved to Santa Rosa in the summer of 2020. We were moving to a rental house while we looked for a house to buy. The rental house was pretty small so we need a container. I called a few places but American Storage was the friendliest and their price was good (especially compared to "Pods.") They delivered the container clean and on time and had no trouble fitting it into the small driveway. The container was in excellent condition but didn't leak a drop during the winter rains. We finally bought a house so we we will be returning the container soon. But our experience with American Storage was excellent. read more

Moving is never fun and can be very stressful, but everyone at American Storage was helpful and professional and they really helped us get out of a tough situation during our move. I called them at 3:30 Wed. afternoon, and the containers were delivered at 3:00 the next day! I highly recommend using American Storage if you are moving (they deliverv the empty containers, pick them up once filled and deliver them to your new location, or if you prefer they will store them for you at their large warehouse in Santa Rosa. Kathy, Donna and Gayle have shown excellent service when requesting our boat moving. Ray, their yard foreman is very skilled with his forklift and its maneuverability. Our boat is well taken care of. I recently have had to move, oh the joys!!! NOT. I wavered back and forth between hiring movers, or heaving all my crap to a big self storage unit, or hiring Pods type storage containers.... I decided on PODS. Well, sort of.... PODS is 3 TIMES the cost of American Storage in Santa Rosa for the exact same thing! American Storage, has great affordable rates, you talk to a live person who is very kind and helpful everytime you call, and they were efficient, and prompt. I used American Storage during our last move here in Santa Rosa in 2012, and they were great to deal with. Office staff is friendly and helpful and I felt the prices were pretty fair all around. Would use them again in the future if we move again... although that is something I in no way look forward to doing. read more

I've used American Storage twice for reasonably long periods of time (due to moves). They have the most competitive rates on a per crate basis (crates are 8x5x8). I usually spoke with Gayle, who has always been most helpful. They definitely got to know me well since one move was rather rushed and I needed to access items from my crates many times. They even have delivery service for the crates; however, recommend that you discuss that situation in advance due to street restrictions as well as hilly areas. I would have given them 5 stars except for my most recent move into Mill Valley--I wanted to have my crates delivered and offloaded into a large parking lot and then have my movers take my stuff to the apartment, in a complex the truck wouldn't fit. Car traffic is not an issue at this lot and I arranged a similar situation the first time I used them years ago. I was told that management didn't wish to take on the risk the offloading in a large parking lot (not theirs or my apartments). I found that unfortunate since my movers that would have been doing the actual moving, etc. Regardless, I would use them again. read more

I wish I could give this company zero stars. I needed a container moved, I went to their yard on Santa Rosa avenue, spoke with some men who were courteous and they referred me to the office. Called the office transferred to Sean who doesn't call back until a day later. When he does he is extremely rude and cold on the phone. Really American Storage this person is your front line to deal with customers? After he rudely tells me he cannot provide the service I was requesting...he asks me why I purchased my container somewhere else....Dah! Because the other company has high levels of customer service even if they are an hour away from American Storage. In fairness to American Storage Gayle did call back my business partner and was much more professional even if they were still unable to provide the service. As a business owner I know that service should be standard and not differ from one sales person to the next. read more

Unfortunately, I had the same experience with a Sean that some of the other reviewers did - flat out completely rude and not helpful at all. I used this company a while ago moving 8 doors down and all seemed ok - 2 boxes, drop off and delivery with minor scheduling set backs - they only delivery 2x per week. So I set up another delivery with him, called back the day before to confirm and nothing was set up - did the whole thing again, they came out and then said because their driver did not want to risk a ticket, I guess he received at some time back, so after a week of waiting, all Sean could say is my driver made a decision and that is it. I offered to move the box to a different location and Sean had no motivation to work something out to keep my business. Totally agree they are not willing to make any concession to do business, so I would not recommend them. read more

Something must have changed because the service I've received from American Storage at all levels was fantastic. They wedged an 8' x 20' container into a very tight and the delivery driver was very helpful in putting it in the very best location. The people in the office were very responsive and helpful, too. I, too, wanted to use a local company and it has really paid off. I decided I wanted to buy the container once I'd had it for a few months and they made me a really good deal on it rather than taking advantage, which they could have. Just today, I needed some help with some welding/straightening repairs after some vandals tried to break in. The owner sent one of his crew over right away to help us out. Well....I've used American Storage for my boat in the past and had a decent experience. I have not needed their service for the last couple years but am in need of it again. I called in to make the arrangements and they turned away a solid, returning customer because my boat is more than five years old! I have a 1994 Malibu Sunsetter, which by the way is in excellent condition. As far as boats go, I'd consider it a mint condition classic.(I understand I may be biased a little) Anyways, I spoke with a woman who claimed to be the highest level of management at the Santa Rosa location(doubt it), and she stated they only want boats that are 5 years or newer and have value to them. She clearly does not know boats very well. No, my boat is not going to have the value of a 5 year old boat(I'm not delusional), but to tell me it has no value?! And not enough value to sit in a warehouse?! Very disappointed and frustrated with the service and lack of help for a returning customer. 1 star it is.....and the loss of my business. My wife and I had a great experience with American Storage. They were professional over the phone and in person. It was very easy to book, schedule and it is way more cost effective than any other pod type storage service. They made the pain of moving many steps easier. Their driver Mike did a great job of making sure the pods minimized space on the driveway and made sure they all were level and ready to go. read more
