They have been doing a much better job with their hiring. For many months now all the employees are pleasant and have senses of humor. Previously I'd felt like the cashiers ignored me (a woman in my 60s and past my prime!) in favor of a young cute woman. It was really rude. That has not been repeated in some time. She came down to the counter and I politely asked her what was the difference between the Bulleit Bourbon and the Bulleit Rye. Her response was, " One is a bourbon and the other one is a rye". Perry's is less than a 3 minute drive from my house. The next closest liquor store is 13 minutes away. Moving forward I will happily take my business an extra 10 minutes down the road. As most Athens…read moreresidents will attest, most of the neighborhood liquor stores are not so well stocked and/or sketchy. Generally, they're for last minute emergencies only. While Perry's does not measure up to the ABC, it is much nicer and has a much better selection that most other liquor stores in Athens. Given the severe lack of liquor stores in the downtown/north Athens area, Perry's is a godsend. The interior is clean and nice and the staff is friendly and accommodating-- If they don't stock a particular item, they'll be happy to order it for you, especially if they recognize you as a regular. So all you Downtown/Bridgewater/Retreat/Campus Lodge Residents, give Perry's a try if you don't already know the glory!
