They provide syllabi for all the classes so that you know what to expect, how to prepare, and what to bring. I feel like I definitely get my monies worth. He answered the phone each time with efficiency professionalism and accuracy in just a few words. Love this guy. We get on the Cee Ray (the boat) set up our gear, get the details, briefing and our bunks. Everyone on the Cee Ray was very friendly and welcoming. We were strangers amongst many local friends. We were welcomed and definitely not left out of the laughs and good stories. The travel stories were all wonderful to hear. We dove on Saturday. The briefings about each dive site were informative and exactly what was told. The Dive Masters all of them (Mikee, Casey, and a few more) were helpful without gear, air fills, and efficiency was the name of the game for this scuba shop. Breakfast lunch snacks were all very tasty and full of flavor. We appreciated the service and the cleanliness of the Cee Ray and the folks running the boat were amazing as well. My friend and I felt welcomed, and it is always nice to dive with such an outstanding Dive shop. We were offered to continue on with Women's Dive Weekend with crafting the following day. Jennifer took us around the shop and I decided to get air fills and get a new compass. Glenn my new friend sold me a new one and installed it. Great service for sure. I've left a reg and a SS1 there (separately) and even tho they were promised to be ready by my trip. The date came, they weren't ready. Both times, the gear was there for over a month. This last time (and it will be the last time) they promised a month; i got busy and left it 2 months. I called, it wasn't done. When I threatened a poor review, the owner called me, got nasty and said he didn't appreciate the threat and my SS1 was going to 'magically' be done that Sunday. Here's the facts: I don't ever threaten, i write honest reviews, both good and bad. So the next person knows what to expect, that's what YELP is about. So, as they say "if the shoe fits" and if it fits in a bad way, then FIX IT. I am not happy about it and it really is a shame, they are local and I prefer to do business locally. The rental gear, including the dive lights, was in excellent condition, and Dave's safety briefing was thorough and professional while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable. The highlight of the dive was a curious harbor seal that followed us for much of the dive, using our lights to spot and catch fish along the way. Seeing the dive park come alive after dark was a completely different experience from diving it during the day. I highly recommend Diving Catalina for anyone wanting to experience the magic of a Catalina night dive.

This little shop in costa mesa right with super easy location access and their people are the best. I called Dive & Photo last minute wanting to have accelerated private open water PADI instruction/certification for myself and a son and daughter both in their 20s. 3 days of instruction later. Done. Dive & Photo one of their instructors, Allen Gibson in touch with me and he made it happen. Of course an older retired marine veteran would be effecient and organized. Allen was everything you could ask for in an instructor. Expert. Efficient. Prepared. Patient. Flexible. Fantastic teacher and communicator with our varied learning styles and backgrounds. He made sure each one of us mastered the material. The gear provided was great. We bought dive fins at the shop and Allen walked us through the options and pricing was good. Everything from first call to gear to instruction was Five Star. Allen had the beach conditions and reef area for our dives in laguna wired (and I have lived in laguna all my life) even the parking set-up. Honestly there were a couple other shops that were doing their dives just arriving after we had gotten started and I felt sorry for them. They looked so disorganized. I am planning a scuba trip to the Gallapagos Islands and was checking my equipment. I noticed my…read moredive computer had about a 25% battery. I decided it was most likely safer to get the battery changed. I found Beach Cities Scuba in Dana Point, CA and took the computer there. The technician came to me to tell me that a screw had snapped off. Eventually, I was in touch with Scuba Center Temecula. After explaining the situation, and them verifying it, they decided to replace my dive computer. The screw snapping off could have happened to anybody. It just so happened at one of their dive shops. The amazing thing is they stepped up and did the right thing. It is refreshing to know there are still companies out there with integrity. I am now a loyal fan.

I would like to start out with a quick story before getting to my review. 5 months ago, I was only…read moreable to walk with the assistance of a walker, after a major surgery, and spending all my time in physical therapy, relearning to walk. After a discussion with my surgeon and Physical Therapist, they agreed that learning to Scuba Dive would be beneficial to my recovery, with a few minor restrictions. I cannot begin to find the words to thank Rusty Berry and his incredible team of instructors, assistants, and shop employees. Each and every one of them went above and beyond to work with me and assist me with a couple of restrictions. I began spending every single Saturday in their pool, working with a number of instructors, and was even allowed to come in on a Sunday to only focus on buoyancy. Today, thanks to each and every one of them, I became a certified open water diver. Through the pain, the anxiety, and the frustration of my limitations, they made it happen. They were my biggest cheerleaders in not only getting my life back, but making me stronger and making sure I reached a long time personal goal of mine. I proudly represent Scuba Schools of America each and every day and I will forever refer SSA to anyone ready for their Scuba adventure. Rusty is a savant when it comes to diving. Diver's is probably my favorite spot in all of Laguna to go chill. It's... quiet, because it's…read morerelatively small compared to the Main Beach strand, but it's so special. It's usually clean and free of seaweed, and it just smells so good... no icky fish or seaweed decay odors; just clean ocean beach air. This beach only gets GOOD tanning sun during PEAK Summer hours, otherwise, it's kind of... a gamble on the tides and the time of day as to whether you can use the beach for tanning or not. It's a nice beach to NOT get tons of sun on, especially after about 5PM to sunset. It varies, of course, but that's TYPICALLY what you'll find happening. I do NOT believe this area has a lifeguard watching it (?) but correct me if wrong. I don't and haven't seen a lifeguard stand here. The next beach OVER, however does have a lifeguard watching post. This is the spot to go relax... and just sit with yourself and your thoughts. Let the tide rise a little, and then let it go out... and let your problems go with it. It's the best therapy for free you can get, I think... but, anyway... enjoy! :]

They all take safely extremely serious since safety is the key to responsible diving. I was able to get 3 open water beach dives completed in crescent Beach in Laguna. I finished my 4th dive for my certification on the full day catalina 3 dive boat, out of Long Beach. The whole experience was a memorable one.
