Great First-Time Donation Experience…read more I had a great experience donating blood here the other day. It was actually my first time ever donating, as my doctor recommended it since I'm on TRT therapy and needed to do a Power Red donation. I was definitely a little intimidated going in since I had never done it before. I had also read a few negative reviews online beforehand, which made me a bit skeptical, but I decided to go anyway. Before my appointment I called ahead with a few questions and spoke with a really helpful staff member who gave me great advice and helped ease some of my anxiety. When I arrived, the front desk team was very friendly and welcoming. They walked me through the process and made everything easy to understand. The nurse who set up my donation was knowledgeable, patient, and very kind throughout the whole experience. Since it was my first Power Red donation, I learned the machine can be a little tricky because it cycles your plasma back into the line, so you have to keep your arm positioned a certain way. The system gave a few warnings during the process, but the head nurse came over and was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She stayed close by for much of the time to make sure everything went smoothly and that I was comfortable. The staff also checked on me multiple times and brought me snacks, including chocolate chip cookies, and set me up with my own tray and a bottle of water. It really felt like they cared about making sure donors were comfortable. It also wasn't overly crowded. I showed up around 10 AM and there were probably about ten people donating, but by the time I was halfway through my donation it had quieted down quite a bit and I had plenty of space. The chair itself was very comfortable. After finishing, I was able to relax in the recovery area and help myself to some snacks (the popcorn was great!). As an added bonus, I even received a free ticket to the Renaissance Festival for donating that day. Overall it was a very positive experience and the staff did a wonderful job helping a first-time donor feel comfortable and supported. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to donate blood.

I've been here a few times now and have had mixed experiences. I wasn't able to donate on two occasions because of a slight fever and low iron, but that's not their fault! I've donated successfully a few times and it's been a smooth process each time. The phlebotomists are professional and friendly and I personally haven't had issues with the needle stick and draw. Lots of snacks and drinks available, nice receptionist at the front, and spacious location. I recommend donating at a Vitalant near you and helping others!

Everything! Tonight was my second visit. I did exactly what was told to me on Saturday and went to…read morecheck in. I waited in line until a computer opened because they only have . I tried twice and twice the computer said I could not donate and had to speak to a staff member. I waited in line. There was only one guy at the desk and he had to call someone else and the parking lot on both sides were full so there were a lot of people there. This was at 5:30 tonight. I had an appointment for 630 and I thought by going early I might be seen earlier. stupid me. So I talked to the staff member and he said that since they did not give blood from me on Saturday, they had to check for a better vein today on the other arm. So we checked my other arm and it had "one small vein". He told me that would do and go back to the computers to sign in so I waited in line again. about 10 minutes later I got to the computer. I finished that and I was told by a staff member to go stand in the line that waits for donating and there was about 15 people in line. So I waited in line again. About 10 minutes later staff member came up and said I was in the wrong line, that I had to go get my blood checked again. I told her I had already done that last week and she said "it gets done every time." so I left that line to go stand in a different line again. Thankfully, that one was short, and I went up to the guy, and although my name is very easy to spell, it took him seven tries with me, spelling it each time. After I told him the frustration I had tonight, he said I'll have to see the nurse again. I told him I already saw the nurse on Saturday. He said "you have to see her again because you got a bruise on your arm." at that point I've had enough of waiting in line, and wrong information and I left. I've been there 40 minutes and was nowhere near getting to my blood donation with my appointment at 6:30.. as I went to leave I talked to the manager who I had talked to earlier about the debacle and he said "right well the nurse had to see you because of the bruise on your arm" and we got me so angry about that is that if he knew that, then why did he tell me to go sign in and stand in the first line??? A business either has good employees or they don't. A business either prospers or folks based on employees. I was given the runaround for stupid reasons. I could've been told right off the bat what I would be looking at tonight instead of being told to go from one line to another, a total of 4, but I guess they're so used to people not really caring how long they're gonna have to stand around that they figure everybody's the same. Well, I'm not I'm a businesswoman and a healthcare professional and I don't have time to just waste. The other thing that's ridiculous there is I would like someone to answer why we make an appointment when you have no intention of meeting it.? I had an appointment on Saturday too, but wasn't seen till almost an hour and a half later. When I make an appointment with people to come into my office at 9 o'clock, they're not expecting to see me at 10:30. This is a terrible place. It has no respect for your schedule, your appointment time, or how to communicate with you anything about the procedure. There are other places I can donate at and I'll try there. Bio life is horrible.. do better! Treat people with dignity.

When I was having my vitals taken, I noticed what appeared to be traces of blood on the floor around the vitals workstation and surrounding area. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they were unaware it was there and could not tell me how long it had been present. This is extremely unsanitary and concerning, especially given the potential health risks associated with bloodborne pathogens. Because of this, I did not feel comfortable staying long enough to complete my plasma donation. There clearly needs to be improvements in the intake process, cleanliness protocols, and overall staff awareness. This level of sanitation and oversight is unacceptable for a facility handling plasma donations. This was a very negative experience, and it has made me seriously question whether I will return to this location or donate plasma anywhere again. I hope this issue is addressed so future donors do not have a similar experience.

If they don't get your plasma they can't report profits to their shareholders. Based on my weight and hemoglobin, I gave 1050ml for a payment but the person next to me because they were less weight and hemoglobin only gave 450ml yet received the same payment. They were in and out in 30 minutes; I was there almost an hour. Is that fair? In an investigative report, "Donating" plasma is low-paid labor that has become essential to an exploitative global medical industry." The USA is 1 of only 5 countries to legally allow selling of your plasma. Its long term health effects are unknown and short term leads to dehydration. There's also a book written about the industry called "Blood Money", an excerpt - "Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, roughly one thousand Mexican nationals crossed the US border every week to donate plasma at the fifty or so clinics in the El Paso, Texas, area."
