We have a $9,000+ 3-1/2 year old french door double gas top, electric bottom oven American Range Model AROFFGE-230. The bottom oven is so uneven that it is essentially un-useable. Within 30 days of warranty expiration the control board failed and American Range refused to replace it. Bad business but that was their prerogative. I had the board examined by a printed circuit guy who stated the board was not properly soldered as the reason for failure. I have been so happy with the decision I made one year ago, to invest in an American Range 30" Performer. With no gas at our home, I was searching for a range that would enable high btu's with LP gas by having a tank installed. American Range was the winner by a mile! But wait, no dealer for American in my state? A quick call to American and they put me in touch with their rep John Novella. John answered all of my 8 million questions with patience and understanding. He even arranged for shipping to my home in Kentucky. The American Range has the quality, power and durability that I was searching for. Pros: -HIGH power burners -Set for LP from factory = no loss of power converting to LP gas -Ease of cleaning (comes apart in a flash) -Heavy duty racks in oven -All parts are of high quality Cons: -When oven is cooling after turning it off, you will here a loud bang noise. Scares the hell outta you at first -Company marketing (not a lot of info out there) -Dealer network in the east -Once or twice I've had the igniter make the clicking noise while the burner has been in use. Do not buy am American Range product. Our double oven arrived with six defects which they attempted to fix. They rely on local service folks who may or may not have been factory trained. There is no follow up, no recourse if it doesn't work. WE had a vice president assure us that the warranty wouldn't start until the unit worked--he then left the company. They have no record of this defective device. 3 years later we have a double oven where only one oven works. There isn't anyone to service it even if we paid for it. Service people show up, scratch their heads, say they will call the company and there is no call back. read more

I own an AR48 with a double oven and it is a workhorse. From reading some of the other reviews I had concerns, but most of the reviews seemed to be dealing with products damaged in shipping or machines that are 4, 5, or 6 years old and require maintenance or parts. I knew what I was signing up for--a well made, beast that I can use day in and day out. If I neglect it, I know it will act up, but I have had this unit for 26 months now, and it's been reliable. I've had one burner go out after about 2 years, and contacted Angry Chef Repair who fixed it in 5 minutes, at a very VERY reasonable price. All in all, I'm very happy, as most of the custom color ranges I was looking at were priced almost 3K above the unit I got, with a double oven, and all the bells and whistles my wife and I were looking for. read more

I want to strongly discourage anyone from considering the purchase of an American Range product. I have now purchased two units from them. The first works well, but the second is horrible. Most importantly of all, they are refusing to stand by the product, beyond asking me to uninstall it and ship it to them, and this only after their recommended repairman twice unsuccessfully attempted to repair the unit and said that it was defective and should be replaced. We purchased our American Range residential dual oven and cooktop from Direct Buy. We spent over $10k thinking this was a great design and quality product. Well, let's just say our experience has been a nightmare. The cooktop arrived with broken grates. The oven arrived inoperative. It doesn't maintain the right heat level. Apparently both thermostats were defective. What are the odds of both being bad? All the reviews on customer service are spot on. This company has a serious customer care problem. There is no sense of urgency and they appear to be more of a blocker vs an advocate. We were so frustrated, we wrote a letter to the President of American Range: Shane Demirjian. Our fear is that he is either clueless or endorsing this terrible service with poor leadership. Sadly, the oven looks great but our experience and quality have been very poor. I don't think this company will last long given this service. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I purchased a refurbed 36" residential range model ARROB636 about 4 months ago off Ebay through a scratch and dent dealer out of Chatsworth, CA. I did have an issue with the seller as they said the unit was "like new" condition, however, when I received it, it was apparent that the unit had been used and had very scratched and dented parts. Not an issue for me if it was clearly stated in the listing. This issue was resolved to my satisfaction and this review is not about the seller but about the range itself. So far it's been a dream to use. The range burners turn on quickly and even turn themselves back on if accidentally blown out. The oven is spot on with temperature. The broiler works well but I haven't used it to actually cook anything yet. I've called customer service several times to get information about installation and also to purchase/replace parts (since I bought a used unit) and they were more than helpful. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I would prefer the grates on top be 6 separate ones instead of 3 long grates so it would be easier to remove to clean. Also, they scratch easily and are discoloring but that may be just how cast iron behaves? Lastly, the oven grates are a bit hard to slide in and out, but I'm going to see if there is anything I can do about that. I'm sorry others are having such a bad experience with their AR. I can imagine if I bought a brand new range and it had the issues mentioned in other reviews, I'd be pretty upset too. read more

I bought the double oven with French doors on the top oven. I had problems with the ovens from day one. So many issues that the company replaced the ovens. The second ones were no different from the first ones and failed in multiple regards. Repairs were done to essentially replace most of the inner workings of the ovens including the thermostats and repairing a short that occurred internally. The ovens still don't function properly and I plan to replace them with another brand. My financial loss is exceptional. Additionally, the home office was of no help and is actually contentious. I would strongly discourage anyone from purchasing American Range ovens. read more

After only two years with my 6 burner American Range, I have replaced the oven igniter twice, the broiler igniter once and the convection fan once. I have spent over $800. in parts and the American Range service department refused to help pay for any replacement parts. Poor Company Service and VERY Disappointing Range. When it works, it's decent, but we've had SO many problems with it in the 5 years that we've had it, that it has become a thorn in my side that sneers at me every time I walk by it; And the quality of the customer service is on par with the quality of the stove. After multiple complaints (see my previous reviews) they sent up a repair company and rebuilt the stove. Well, we had 2 good years before the oven crapped out again. I just don't understand...I am a private chef, and I work in a lot of homes with a lot of stoves. I don't ever see my clients having the problems with their stoves that I have with mine. This stove has been a thorn in my side since the day I bought it. Just had a great experience with help in trouble-shooting a commercial range and oven that was not heating properly. Back-and-forth over several days Alfred helped pin down the issue, which was an easy self-fix. I'd give this experience a 5-star but it comes on the heels of another encounter with the company last year for the same problem with the same piece of equipment where a different tech ended up costing me an aggravating several weeks of trouble-shooting and several hundred dollars in parts that never fixed the issue. read more

We're Still Getting Duped by American Range! After committing to replacing our defective Performer range with a new range, and nearly 2 weeks of supposedly building it and tweaking the burners, American Range wrote me saying: "We have finished our investigation/problem solving. We have a much better solution than replacing the entire range. The fix is new burner caps and removal of a diverter plate in the burner bases...By just changing the caps, it eliminates the risk of property damage to cabinets, flooring, doorways, etc. from moving an entire range in and out of house." Gee. Thanks for suggesting to improve the burners by unnecessarily replacing perfectly fine burner tops and by removing parts the range was designed to work with with, and for continuing to not address the defective controls/igniter on one of the burners and the oven that is unacceptably off temperature unless you use the optional convection fan, all in the name of eliminating risk to property damage. C'mon American Range. Start acting like a professional company by stopping this bait and switch and timely honoring your part of our contract - to provide us with a fully operational range that we purchased 2.5 months ago! Since you have been unwilling to stand behind your product, then, unnecessarily, this defective range will be returned for a refund and we will have to look at a similar offering from your competitors - Capital and BlueStar. read more

Best range EVER!! What really sets American range apart from other brands is their customer service. I'm doing a remodel ( not my range lol ) and I needed to pull it out. My handyman by accident took the door off and we didn't know how to get it back on. I was panic stricken as I love this range. One quick call to American range and they put me through to Guillermo who sent me pics and videos and also happens to speak Spanish and helped my handyman. He still didn't know how to latch it. ( it's actually extremely simple and I now feel silly) but Guillermo asked where I was located and he happens to be my neighbor. On his way home from work he stopped over and popped it back on. Now THAT goes above and beyond customer service. He's so knowledgeable and helpful. I'm now a forever American Range Customer. It doesn't get any better than a stunning appliance that cooks amazing, looks amazing and the best customer service. I was not paid or asked to review American Range. Don't buy American Range. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. And if you read all the other reviews you can see how spectacularly bad this brand really is. We have three units. 36" residential and two commercial in our restaurants. Two of the three of these are absolute lemons. Less than six years old - all were purchased around the same time. The residential unit is at best a waste. The cost to repair has been close to $2,000 with another 625+ service and parts needed. The service and repair on the commercial unit has been close to $3,000. Nearly have the cost of each oven. But what's most remarkable is the lack of help I have received from American Range in Pacoima, CA. I have called and emailed and made trips to the store/warehouse. It's the same "oh we're happy to help,... it's gonna cost money" It's too long to go into, but in short we have served thousands of people in our restaurants and will continue to do so, only I'll be swapping the ovens and I'll be letting my chef and manager friends know to STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN RANGE. Go with Viking or Vulcan on the gas / commercial end. LG or Samsung on the electronic. Trust me when I say - American Range will ultimately make you American Deranged if you purchase. Do not pass go. OVERPRICED range!!! If you are considering this product, Take the purchase price and add a multiple of $500.00 (repair bills)to calculate the total cost of ownership. The Range looks nice but that that is not enough to justify the high price. We have owned it less than 3 years with moderate use and similar to other posts we are faced with replacing the igniter which is a costly repair. We would have been better off buying a range at the home improvement store at a fraction of the price! American Range sells a product at a price point that makes it an investment and they offer a one year warranty which becomes their canned response to issues. read more

I have nothing but problems with both my electric and gas American ranges. They start to heat and then stop. I have had more than 5 service calls in just a year. I have requested a new oven as it has never worked properly, but they keep telling me that the ovens are fixed. I use the ovens one or two times and the same thing happens. I have purchased Three of the these fryers One about ten years ago and it is a beast and then two in the last 4 years and they are crap do not but anything from American Range this is an American made product that should probably be sent out to china so I could at least excuse the poor craftsmanship of these fryers. The weldings on the Tank are a joke they leak all over the place making a mess inside of the fryers I was able to get The first tank prorated and replaced (at my cost) and then it leaked again 8 months later I contacted Brad Gilbertson and Julie Phan via email (recommended form of contact) and they just ignored my emails I finally had it fixed but it it started to Leak again on another weld, so sad! The tech they sent out to fix one of my fryers while still under warranty recommended that I just buy another brand. I just bought a Pitco fryer today so wish me luck and hope that it lasts at least 5 years. read more

I LOVE my American Range Single Door Propane Wall Oven. This is my dream oven, and I want to thank JoJo, Hector, and Guillermo for being so kind and helpful. I am baking up a storm and use mostly the convection-bake setting which works so well when baking bread, cakes and cookies. I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to by a product and have issues with it. This happened to me a few years ago - I am a customer that received a malfunctioning wall oven, BUT I have to admit that even though I had problems with it, the American Range Team did everything they could to repair the issues. They were always polite and handled each call and email with genuine concern. I live in Ontario, Canada, so I thought that dealing directly with this American Company would be difficult - NOT AT ALL! This is more than I can say with other consumer products. It was so comforting to know that there was always a person to talk to when I needed some assistance. When it got to the point that my oven just couldn't be fixed, the Company stood behind their product and sent me a brand new one! As a consumer, I believe that there are reputable companies who do believe in quality customer service, so I appreciate the time and effort - even though it was almost three years - that each member of the American Range Team took to try to deal with my previous oven's issues. My new oven works like a dream - it is my dream oven, and I thank American Range for being so professional and courteous throughout my ordeal. I am hopeful that American Range products will become more popular in Canada, as I do feel that they offer a quality propane oven that is most suitable for avid bakers such as myself. I had a customer that had issues with a unit, i reached out to the rep who connected me to the warranty department Guillermo Melendrez. He was amazing, answered all my questions and concerns thru email and even offered to connect directly with client, turns out he even went to service the unit himself. How often does that happen?! We spent $4200 on a 36" 6 burner gas range. I expected it to be a quality product. After 3 years, the regulator, bake burner, and ignitor all broke. Between Standard TV and Appliance's bad service and American Range's bad service, I have been without and oven for 6 weeks and counting! UNACCEPTABLE! I was impressed by how quickly American Range called me after I emailed them, but after showing them my proof of purchase, they said that there is no warranty on the range I purchased! SERIOUSLY? As I mentioned to them, I can go to any appliance store and buy a range for a few hundred dollars and it will last for 10+ years! It is amazing this company stays in business! I couldn't be happier with this beast of a range, the 30 inch Performer which I've owned for almost two years. I spoke directly with a few different people from their head office before and after I purchased their product and never had any issues with customer support, they promptly called me back and looked after me. After being in possession of the range I went through the appropriate channels to have a minor issue resolved, I filled out the necessary paperwork sent it to American Range and within a few days I was contacted by the local service company that is responsible for American Range here in Montreal. I don't get the negative reviews on here, if true it's unfortunate that some customers had to go through this. I would highly recommend the Performer for home use, so much better and powerful than the natural gas stove we previously owned. read more

I have an old commercial convection oven and it is a work horse. The blower motor blue and American Range got me the right part to replace it. The motor is not cheap, but if it lasts as long as the old one, it will be worth it. We had a decision to make, but a new one $2,400 or $900 to put in a new motor and squirrel cage, we chose the later. We will put the motor in this weekend. This a fairly small company, so if you need assistance they are very accessible. They definitely work hard to make sure they get it right. read more

Best oven that I've ever had. There just happens to be one in the kitchen of the home that I rent and I feel like I've won the jackpot of stoves! I'm a caterer, so I've worked with the fanciest, high-quality kitchen appliances that are out there, and I have to say, American Range is as good as anything I've used. The oven heats up fast and the fifth burner is awesome. I entertain a lot and have a big family and we have used all five burners multiple times. Also...it's a pretty stove! Beautiful really. I feel like a professional chef at home using this stove and my cooking has improved because of it. I cannot recommend American Range enough...
