It's been 3 years since my last visit to Ranch House. Clearly, I wasn't a fan. I even told myself I wouldn't return. Fast forward to 9/3 .......a Sunday and I wanted some soul food. I didn't want to go to my normal spots so I came here. I was dreading it because it's always so crowded and I never really understood why. Putting all my past feelings aside, here I am BACK at Ranch House. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was efficient in moving the line along. They weren't overly friendly but nice enough. I really enjoyed my veggie plate. The portions were very generous for the price. I paid less than $9 for this plate. This visit exceeded my expectations!

Service was quick. Dish 1 (Liver w/ Broccoli, Cheese and rice, and Squash) The liver was everything I expected (very good), the broccoli dish wish a little salty and the squash was really good. Dish 2 (Spaghetti, Sweet Potato, Broccoli, Cheese and rice) Nothing special or standout about the spaghetti. Noodles were a little too soft. Dish 3 (Baked 1/4 Chicken, Sweet Potato, Mac-n-cheese) Sweet potatoes were not quite tender. The taste was seasoned good. The chicken had good flavor to it. It was on the borderline of being dry. All in all, the food was tasty and I would recommend. My biggest negative is the plasticware was very flimsy and hard to maneuver with dishes that we had. It kept bending and no sturdiness to it. Not nitpicking, just giving a detailed review.

Liver and rice, green beans and yams

Went here for dinner today. When I walked in, there was one way in and one way out. No one was in line and there were three young ladies at the front. One of the young ladies approached me without hesitation and asked what would I like. I ordered liver and rice, green beans and yams. I checked out and got it to go. The place was clean and no Covid restrictions. The food was not the best. The liver was a little salty and the green beans and yams were typical out of the can veggies. The serving amount was a lot especially the meat. I may consider to return and try something other than what I got this time.

I ordered turkey and dressing, mac and cheese, and candied yams. I had been craving homemade turkey and dressing and thought this would be the next best thing. It was not. I was disappointed in this meal. The turkey was lukewarm and very bland. The candied yams were from a can. The mac and cheese was flavorless. The dressing and gravy was okay and made the meal edible. I had high hopes for this place. I will give it another try but order something different. The service was very friendly and efficient.

went for Sunday breakfast (early) and didn't have a wait. had amazing food and service. highly recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice!

I really like Ranch House but there are times that I feel the meat and vegetables lacks flavor or have to much of something or not enough. I still go at times on nights that I don't feel like cooking and some days I'm surprised that the foods is so good while others days are not. I do however like that they have a menu to order from and not just meat and vegetables. The menu has a variety of choices such as wings with fries, baked potatoes options, seafood options, salads, burgers and sandwiches. So this is a route to take if you are not feeling like cooking for the night!!

I had never heard of this restaurant until today. Me and Soldiers were looking for a breakfast close by to where we were and I found this place. Once we arrived we were told they didn't sell breakfast anymore but that didn't turn us away, because they had a spread of food that looked delicious. I ended up getting their neckbones with Mac and cheese, black eyed peas with cornbread. I must say they give you big portions because the neckbones were huge. I poured a good bit of hot sauce on my neckbones and some sugar on my peas and dug right into my plate. Just know I was a happy guy. Overall, this restaurant is a great establishment with a lot of different options to choose from, so you can't go wrong with any of your choices. Also the drinks that they have are great. I prefer the peach and lemonade combo.

Oh, American Ranch House, where have you been all of my life? My mom heard a radio advertisement raving about this meat and 3 located in Tarrant. She decides to send me to pick up some dinner for her one evening I'm off work early. I've passed by this restaurant many times, but never had the desire to stop. As I pull up, I notice on the sign that the price for a meat and three veggies is only $7.99. What a deal! Upon entering, I looked at all of the choices. I decided to order a cup of Mac and cheese to sample. I feel like a restaurant that can't do Mac and cheese right will never see my money. My mom wanted beef tips and rice, cabbage and butter beans, so the Mac and cheese served as her 3rd side. That's a lot of food! But how did it taste was the real question. When I sunk my teeth on the fork of cheesy goodness, my heart leaped for joy. Finally! A restaurant that serves good soul food near my neck of the woods. As I rushed home to take mom her food, I felt like I had a little skip in my step! My mom raved about the food. She gave it 5 stars. I returned with my friend the same evening and ordered the baked pork chops. I must say, that in my honest opinion, this is the best meat and veggie restaurant in the city. I don't give many 5 stars, but this place earns it. Friendly and fast service, excellent price, delicious food, location (near my house) and availability (the hot bar is open all day, not just during lunch) means I'm going to be a happy repeat customer. Thanks mom!

Hands down best country cooking I've had in a long time! The staff was warm and welcoming. They walked me through the specials and they are good hearted folks. The food choices were sublime! If you fancy yourself a soul food/country cooking connoisseur, you need to do yourself a favor and visit this place ASAP! I tried the hamburger steak, gravy and rice, and baked Mac & Cheese with a corn muffin. When I tell you everything was seasoned perfectly! Hot, fresh, delicious, this is what you want from a kitchen that like home! The restaurant was clean and they're adding a patio area to eat outside so that's going to be great. I'll be definitely visiting them again if I'm ever on that side of town again. Please visit this restaurant. I implore you to give them a try because it's rare to give this type of praise that's heartfelt.

That's a good thing in my opinion. The prices of everything is very reasonable and manageable. The service is top notch but what I enjoyed the most was the conversation and recommendation as this was my first, but not last, time visiting. I'm so mad I'm just now trying them. It might have been the slowest dinner I ever had in my life. I had a 7:00 PM reservation and I arrived early and sat down at 6:50. After being greeted and ordering wine I placed an order of the pork belly appetizer at 7:05. The pork belly appetizer came out at 8:00, 55 minutes after ordering. I placed the entree order at 7:30 and it came out at 8:30. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Two three tops and a two top so not even large tables. Why on earth is it taking an hour to get out an order. I have my credit card at 8:50 and got it back at 9:15. 25 minutes to charge a card? I mean I guess you can get busy but the 4 tables here had 3 people helping with them. At no point when the server came by my table did I ever say I needed another minute. So, a 2.5+ hour dinner as a single diner was ridiculous, especially considering they were not busy. The food here was truly incredible, some of the best I've had anywhere I've traveled. I absolutely loved it. You can tell they source fresh, local ingredients daily, and that commitment clearly shines through in the quality of every dish. I started with the pork belly appetizer, which was outstanding. The cut had the perfect balance of meat and fat, expertly cooked with the fat beautifully rendered. The flavors were exceptional as well, finished with a maple glaze and paired with a sweet potato cornbread that was completely unique and memorable. For my main course, I ordered the smoked ribeye, and it was flawless. The quality was top-tier, with gorgeous marbling that truly reflected a prime cut. The smoke flavor was perfectly balanced--present but never overpowering. It had a beautiful crust, was expertly seasoned, and cooked to an ideal temperature. It honestly could not have been better. They also offered a few amuse-bouches that were equally impressive. A single bite of cherry tomato with lamb bacon was one of the best bites I've ever had. To finish, I was served a watermelon and muscadine sorbet with a St-Germain finish, an incredibly thoughtful and skillful dessert. There is an immense amount of talent in this kitchen. You will never be disappointed by the food here. My experience seemed to be overshadowed by the slow service and near the end I was so ready to just leave. However I might consider returning just for the food.

The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half.
