Exceptional Service LA County only allowed three backflow testing companies to use so my choices are absurdly limited. The first one I called couldn't even tell me when she is available. She was like "uh, um...send the form to me first then I will tell you when I can come over." I was like lady get your priorities straight. How can you not know when you can come over over to do a backflow test? Ever heard of a calendar? The concept of time management? Jeez, the worst! The second company doesn't even know what their right hand is doing from its left hand. They didn't even know if they do backflow testing nor have any answer to my questions. I was put on hold multiple times so they can figure out if they do backflow testing, how much it would cost, or when they can even come over. They finally got their isters together and said the best they can come over is a month later. A month! You do know they threaten us by shutting off our water if this is not done? Yes, this is true folks. I was like screw this! The last one was like getting a little slice of heaven. They provided solutions for everything; not problems: Excellent customer service (thanks christina....i hope this is correct), immediately set up a date and time of service (within a weeks time), knew exactly where to service the device, and I didn't have to be there. It was so easy to take care of this due to their effectively managed service from phone call to testing. Mind you, these are the only approved testers and this company is pure success. Please beware of Gabe!!! I work for a local business in Lancaster. I contacted American Plumbing for annual testing required by the County of Los Angeles. We have three back flow devices at our location. Without looking at the paperwork to see which device needed testing Gabe quoted me over $16,000 for replacement and informed me there was nothing he could do until we paid 10% of $16,000. Fortunately, I had a feeling something wasn't right. I contacted another plumber and they informed me that the device that needed testing was a completely different device and the fee would be $125.00. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone . They are a complete ripoff!!!!! The only reason for one star is he showed up on time, but I would too if I was making over $16,000 for a replacement that wasn't needed. read more

I called this morning because I had a dripping from our laundry room sink. Right away the secretary gave me an appt for the afternoon. Not once did she mention how much a service charge would be to assess the situation. My fault for forgetting to ask. It's usually about $40-$60 though and if there is need for repair that money goes towards that repair. With HONEST companies. I informed my Husband the time frame the plumber was arriving. I go about my day and my contractor text messages me the issue from watching the video I sent. I was ecstatic, I could do this!! So I went under the sink with my flat head screw driver and turned that bolt with all my strength. Pregnant and all lol the dripping stopped it's the condensation pipe of the AC. It's a hard piece of pipe, not a hose. I text my husband I fixed the issue and to cancel the appt. Well, a couple of hours later my Husband walks into the house with the plumber. He never got my text! Fine, the plumber is here I'll have him check my work. I'll pay the service fee. I told him the issue, showed him the text from my contractor and he agreed. I left the laundry room to tend to work and my Husband went to the restroom. 5 minutes later we both went back into the laundry room and the plumber said he was all done, that was the problem I disclosed to him and he had "tighten" the bolt. I was confused as I had already done that. He then says "it will be $100". I started laughing. He said "no really, the cost is $100". I said why, that's crazy. He said it was $50 for the service call, I said okay. He said $50 to "tighten" the bolt. I said who told you to tighten the bolt, he said "I assumed that's what you wanted". He then said "look at your house, what's $100 to you. You could afford it"! I was so disgusted and beyond uncomfortable, I said fine, just to get this guy out of my house! He said he would get the invoice. Instead of having him come back into my house, which he clearly had wondering eyes for, I went out to my front porch with my checkbook. He walked back up from his truck, we had awkward small talk as I wrote the check. I said no one told me the cost. He said we are so busy, the secretary forgot. They had several openings today though when given my appointment options. My husband was livid that he didn't even come outside. That $100 is groceries for the week for our family. I'm going to look at this as a charity case though and hope that $100 goes to someone else's family for their dinner table. BEWARE THEY WILL TAKE YOUR HARD EARN MONEY FOR DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OTHER THAN LYING AND CASING OUT YOUR HOUSE. Thankfully, our family is trained and our home is safe. Javier was real honest, and told me if I could wait until the next day I would not be subject to holiday pricing which I expected from all companies. I thanked him for that. I was really impressed to see the owner cleaning my kitchen floor when they were done with the job. They explained everything to me and answered every question I had. I really like them. Jason the Tecnician missed diagnosed our plumbing issue. He also LIED about the cause of water damage in order to help our HOA get out of their responsibilites (they do alot of business here.) He also bragged while he was here about filing a claim with his homeowner's insurance company, then doing the repairs himself and pocketing the cash. Kept pushing us to do the same. Next Technician who came (Gabe) also missed the problem until my husband had to bring him inside and show it to him. 2.5 weeks later, it is a big mess all because Jason lied to our HOA about a leak that wasn't there, while missing a leak that was. Sad that Ron has gotten so big that he has to resort to hiring untrained and in this case dishonest people. I have heard this from 3 different people in the past 6 months, but have always stuck up for American Plumbing. Ron is a great guy, and I am very disappointed in these events and that we will most likely end up in small claims court. read more

Disappointed. Ron does quality work & exceptional customer service. His plumbers Gabe & Benny are awesome. Now 2 yrs later...might be a big job & called yesterday. Receptionist was ok & offered first appt for today between 8-10am. Had to take time off work figuring they can take a look at the problem early & have all day to work on it. Not. Didn't even get a phonecall acknowledging my call appt. waited til 10:05 & called & was told the tech was on call & took a commercial call this morning. You're next. Wasn't given a time. Decided to Yelp & saw the reviews. Decided to cancel with American & called another company & spoke w the owner. Technician came out right away. I'll be yelping on those results later. Had my water heater replaced today and I can not express how great Gabriel was. He showed up on time with a smile and informed me what he was going to do. Very professional and knowledgeable. Also Christina who works in the office was great to deal with and quoted me a price and that was the price I ended up paying. I've used Ron and his guys for years now, and their pricing is reasonable and their past work and customer service had been great. Unfortunately, over the past year or two, Ron's company has grown at a larger rate than his customer service can handle. His customer service department is now just OK, and the quality of his company's work is now below average (could be a training issue). I had them install a new whole house water softener about 7 months ago. Price was reasonable and job appeared high quality, until I recently went to replace the filter/cartridge. Turns out, Ron's technician/plumber did not remove the shrink wrap and other shipping material from the cartridge before inserting it! He just put the cartridge in the container without unwrapping it first! This company was awesome when it was just Ron, but his employees are not well trained. read more

American plumbing did a remodel plumbing job for our master bath which included installing the shower head, lever, and soldering new rough in valve. After the shower head was installed it started leaking and they sent out a technician to check it out. The technician didn't fix it and it kept on leaking. I called Ron and he told me that even though I paid $650 to have all that plumbing work done, the shower head that I paid them to install was my problem because I didn't purchase it from American Plumbing. So now my shower head is leaking on day 5 and I am waiting for the parts so I can fix it myself. I'll never use this company again. It pays to go the extra mile and take care of your customers because in return your company gets good reviews and referrals. read more

American Plumbing Services, in my opinion, gave a bid on my job that was above and beyond all other plumbing contractors. They also charged $45.00 for their bid, but I was aware of this upfront. They tried to convince me that they were worth the extra cost, noting that there nicely decorated trucks and overhead were one of the reasons for their inflated prices. All others quoted the job at $300-400 and American's was $750.00! The gentleman also, made negative comment about some plumbing I had in the works and how it "WILL" not last and how he could put a superior, in his opinion, clamp on the PEX so it would not cause a future problem! This was quoted at almost $300.00. Now, to the late arrival part. They were able to come out the next day and told me I would be the first job at 8:00 am. NO, time window was conveyed. They would beg to differ though. At 8:40 the office clerk called and said they were running late. Finally, at 10:00 they showed (they argued it was 9:00). But, my phone was proof, as they called me to tell me their bid at 10:23. This job was a simple estimate that was visible and confined to a 3 foot area in the kitchen. The gentleman said he was there for over an hour, which was not true. As, two adult were there to verify this. When I went to talk to them about all of the above, as it made my son miss work, they were LESS than professional and had the attitude of teenagers being defensive to prove their point! The clerk kept saying the "OWNER" was not going to refund my $45.00 dollars, even though I did not even come out and ask for one. She also argued that they made a reasonable quote for the job. REALLY! And how would she now this?? If you really need a good professional plumber I would only consider this company as a last resort. They are over-priced and unprofessional! I just contacted this company for signing them on for 3+ facilities in the area. When I mentioned that we have locations in the Palmdale and Victorville areas, I was told that they do not service those areas. After confirming that I called the right number and they do in fact service Palmdale and I would also have a location in Lancaster I was told: "you are more than welcome to send us your locations and we'll take a look". It is nice to know that some companies have so much business in this economy that they feel like they are doing anyone a favor if they are given their business. read more

Although I am not the home owner, my friend had to place a service call to American Plumbing. Apparently Home Depot installed an ice maker line somewhat incorrect but functional to the point of rusty ice (YUK). API came and inspected the line and found out that HOME DEPOT installed it rather backward but functional. Home Depot tapped into the galvanized pipe rather than the copper (DUH). API rerouted the line CORRECTLY and now the ice is beautiful and clear. API you hired a fabulous and wonderful plumbing professional who knew what to do and GOTTERDUN !!! I had an emergency back on 1/9/2020. I let the female who answered the phone know they details of the seriousness of this emergency since the fire department was here. I still, to date, have not received a call back. Luckily I was able to get another plumber out ASAP. Your receptionist was rude and condescending even to the fireman who was trying to help me find someone to fix the issue so my small children and I (in a wheelchair at the time) could return to the house. She was yelling at a dog while on the phone, and said she'd call back within 10 minutes after she talked to her plumber. She said he was still asleep. I never received a call back. It was evident that she/you did not want our business. I was originally happy to learn that you were a resident of the same small community. This lack of concern requiring even a simple callback to say you would not help has lost you not just me, but multiple customers in my neighbors, friends, and local family who all witnessed this from you. My family has used American Plumbing on several occasions over the past few years, and we've always received great service done in a very professional manner. First with a water heater replacement which was a great value and installed perfectly. Next we had an issue with a commode which was dealt with quickly and very neatly. Then this last weekend we had to call them on a Saturday to replace a shower valve. Jason let us know our options - which included getting it completed then and there - but also informed us that waiting until a weekday would save us big $$$ (several hundred in fact). They even applied a partial credit from the weekend house call to the final bill! Benny was the technician who made the call and did the replacement; once again, cleanly, professionally, and with surgeon-like skill.
