We hit that magical window around 4 PM, too late for lunch, too early for the dinner crowd, and definitely before the live music rush. Translation: no waiting, plenty of neon, and a whole lot of quirky dive bar charm. The place is exactly what you want in a dive bar: neon lights, old band memorabilia, and that fun, laid-back vibe. We grabbed a table, got our drinks fast, and put in our order. I went with the chicken fried chicken (because why not go full comfort mode?), and my husband ordered the patty melt with tots. He wanted prime rib, but it was not quite ready yet. Heartbreaking, but he rebounded by adding a side of chicken gizzards. He swears they are good here, and I took his word for it because that is as far as I was going with those. My chicken-fried chicken came with a side salad. Was it underwhelming? Yes. Was it fresh? Also yes. But let's be honest, nobody comes to Buck's for the lettuce. The mains arrived hot, in hearty portions that made me instantly resign myself to leftovers, which is not a bad problem to have. The staff was awesome. They all worked together, kept our drinks full, and just seemed like they were having a good time themselves. With big portions, tasty food, and a friendly vibe all around, Buck's was the perfect spot to celebrate a Husker win. We will definitely swing back through when we are in that neck of the woods again.

Located in beautiful Ashland, you'll find the weekend lakeside bar and grill. Not only do they have a big menu, there's games including; a pool table, darts, a claw machine and a beach! I felt like I wasn't in Nebraska tbh. I loved the shrimp tacos, my husband ordered the burrito and the chips and queso was a yummy starter.

Despite only six tables being occupied, it took 30 minutes to get basic drinks (soda/water/tea) and 45 minutes for a single margarita. Food arrived in disorganized waves over 45 + minutes, with multiple messed-up orders. One person didn't get their food until everyone else was done, over an hour later, forcing me to go find it myself. We never made a big deal out of the situation and enjoyed the time that we invested as it was completely out of our hands. The staff openly admitted the owner hasn't been around in weeks, which explains the total lack of oversight--we even watched a server take multiple shots with a neighboring table. It felt like an episode of Bar Rescue. Our own server was polite, our table ALL felt really bad for him and expressed that to him as we know it's a hard job and not his fault, but this lake side location isn't worth the trip , such a complete lack of structure and leadership. Save your trip.
