The waffles are the best full large fluffy whip cream flavor with caramel drizzle on top, the best I recommend the Belgian waffles if you're into caramel and bananas with a side of walnuts wait time is usually packed with people and the place is pretty small so if you're not good with tight spaces just let the waiters know because sometimes you can be seated smacked in the middle next to everyone and gets hot, other than that I love love coming here to enjoy some amazing breakfast. read more

I was actually quite disappointed with this place. My boyfriend grew up in Lompoc and was raving about their breakfasts, so on our last visit we decided to go there. The food wasn't that great (service was fine) and he said he remembered it being WAY better than what we got that day. Went with a group of 10 on Sunday [which happened to be mother's day] with no reservations. So, of course the wait was a bit long. But, once we got seated, service was friendly, and fast. I noticed that the coffee was being refilled.. most everyone got their food around the same time. people were relatively happy with their orders.. judging by the quiet time between receiving the food, and getting the check.. i had a corned beef hash with eggs [oe]/hash browns n toast. the top layer of corned beef hash was almost crispy, and the inside was all sorts of gooey... but it was damn tasty.. i almost cleaned off my plate... Decor is a bit.. overdoing it. Perhaps they named the restaurant after the decor.. the price pp was alright, food + drink + tax and tip, came to about $12ish. read more

I've never been to Lompoc before, but when passing through we stopped here for breakfast. Good ol' fashion American diner staffed almost entirely by Mexicans, which honestly, made it all the more American. Delicious food, good service, convenient, comfortable. Ive been here twice. The first time was ok. But today i ordered the corned beef hash with eggs. But before i did i asked if it was real freshly made corned beef. Waitress answered yes. And ao i ordered it and what i get is canned corned beef. I know this because that what my family and i get when at the stores. So yeah it tasted like can stuff. Very disappointed. Enjoyed my breakfast experience at American Host. Their coffee is excellent paired with any of their breakfast options. I had a 2 egg omelette and it was delicious and presented well. Please be advised that there portions are large and will fill anyone up. The highlight of my meal was the biscuits and gravy. This was our first breakfast stop after moving to the local area. I loved the food and the environment.. a real diner feel! My wife and I enjoyed the normal breakfast dish with eggs bacon and a carb! It was kid friendly due to the size and noise level and they loved all the eclectic decorations! Of all the times I have had breakfast out in Lompoc, I would say I choose American Host 75% of the time. What's not to like? Friendly servers, owner presence, great cooks who are just as friendly as the servers, great food. I love the Elvis Waffle, which is a perfectly cooked waffle with peanut butter drizzle, whipped cream and bananas. It always comes out so fancy and of course, all meals are topped with that American Flag toothpick. Kids love the hot chocolate because they always have fancy sprinkles on top according to the season or time of year. Service was horrible. We got seated and the lady taking our order was extremely impatient and in the middle of us ordering a drink she just walked away to help someone she knew. This placed redeemed itself to me today.. service and food that didn't have what I call "immediate consequences" also helped to bring it up a star. I called in at 5:50am (I know! Even I didn't expect someone to answer!) *hoping* I could make a to-go order for my work drive. Who answered was a very nice and friendly lady that took my order for a pick-up breakfast (I was in a rush and my hotel only serves continental..booo!). I got there at 6:05 and the guy was prepping my eggs/bacon and eng muffin to-go. I was impressed with a) answering the phone before opening time and b) a nice breakfast (that didn't make me sick like Lompoc Restaurant) that was made quickly and packed appropriately to-go. I will order breakfast to-go again from here next time I'm in a rush. read more

This diner gave us an excellent experience. We just left a few minutes ago and I am writing this review not just because of the very delicious food but because of HOW WELCOMED they made us feel. We are living in a world where our differences do not meet each other's expectations due to political beliefs and race. To begin with, I am an immigrant and I love American traditional breakfast. Although I have experienced prejudice and bias in some American diners lately, because of how I look like, and because of how recent political divisions provoked these very unnecessary turmoil, I still search for some place else to enjoy the food they serve. This diner did not disappoint. When we got there today, we were politely asked whether we prefer tables or we would be okay sitting at the breakfast counter. We chose the latter. While we were seated at the breakfast counter, the head cook and another crew attended to us. They would always ask if we were okay, or if we want something added to our food, or if we need anything else. They checked on us the whole time. The customer service was excellent. Little things like things like these means a lot to us and made us feel like we are not different from everyone. My husband and I were given at least less than an hour of an American diner hospitality like no other. The best part, was seeing how the kitchen crew work together. I loved watching the hassle in the kitchen from how they prepare our food, to cooking and plating them. It takes skills to efficiently manage time cooking food. Thank you for the wonderful experience, American Host. You graciously welcomed us and provided us a Superb Experience. Solid breakfast spot. Best in the area with no fussy frills. If you're going on a weekend you better show up early (like you have little kids who wake you up early) or expect a wait. It's always worth it though, and you can sit at the bar first come first serve if time is not in your favor. I love the French toast! read more

Went there this morning for lunch. I had the chicken fried steak, eggs, hash browns and toast, my husband had the BBQ burger with fries. My breakfast was pretty good, his fries were amazing, we didnt get to try them in the ranch so that shall be next times visit. The price was very reasonable- under $20 for all the food we got and had to take half of it home with us. Down side is- they close at 2pm...so no time for a late lunch or even dinner. I have heard if you go early for breakfast, it is extremely busy, so im glad we went a little later. read more

If you ever happen to be in Lompoc and are in need of some breakfast this isn't a horrible place to stop. I think we just managed to hit the wrong server at the wrong time. It wasn't too busy when we arrived. We were seated quickly and our waitress came by to take our drink order about 2 seconds later. As she left she said "I'll be back in a few minutes to take your order." I didn't realize she really meant "a few minutes." Turns out a few really means many because she didn't come back for a good 10 minutes. It took another 20 minutes for us to actually get our food. There were other people around us who arrived after us that got their food before us. I think our waitress just wasn't on the ball. The food was actually pretty good. There were lots of good things to pick from including burgers and sandwiches if you weren't in the mood for breakfast/brunch. I had the cinnamon raisin french toast which was awesome. P had the regular french toast with an egg and E had a poor person's eggs benedict with eggs and ham on an english muffin. Overall, the food was great once we finally got it and the price was fair. If we are in the area again, I'd give it another shot. read more

Wow love this place! It is quaint but is run well and clean. Four obviously talented, clean and professional cooks. We are seated within 3 minutes of arriving and no matter how busy so far our food is at the table in less than 8 minutes. I find the food incredible. The staff is friendly and professional. I always leave a tip and wish there was a way to tip the cooks too. Woohoo we will be back! We are so lucky to have such a great place in such a small town. Puhleeze I am begging you.. Best place in Lompoc for a great breakfast. Always a special and reasonable pricing besides. Waitresses know where everything is in Lompoc... remind me of "Flo". I had the most delicious biscuits and gravy because I love biscuits and gravy. But my girlfriend ordered something that's a local special named after a local mountain darn it I forgot the name, and it was the same thing I ordered a separate had a slice of ham on it and stuff so and came with hash browns. Absolutely delicious the sauce was just right I would have enjoyed a lot of meat in it but it really hit the spot. Looking for breakfast in Lompoc and found this great place. Easy to find right off Ocean and parked right in front. Seemed to be lots of customers waiting, so we opted for counter. Waffles and french toast seemed to be popular, but we ordered the veggie mix and hubby had corned beef hash and eggs. Order came quickly and portions were very satisfying. I also had their home made biscuits, 2 to an order, which were so delicious. We have been coming to Lompoc for years, staying at Vandenberg AFB lodge and have always looked for a great breakfast place. We have now find it! read more
