She was very patient with us, even after our "Marathon Saturday" of looking at many houses in the area. Her knowledge of the housing market and what to look for in a home was very impressive, and she was our pillar of strength through the negotiation process. We closed very quickly and are beyond excited to start the next chapter of life in our new home! Through many laughs and learning tons of new things, Heather is the ONLY Realtor we'll work with in the future.

"They" are really just one guy who sells projects, and then he tries to pull together enough workers to try to accomplish the task. He will not answer your calls, he will lie about actual costs, he will over promise and under deliver. The contractors he hires can't even trust him to pay them. He will cut corners and have his sub contractors do just enough that you won't take legal action. He is not to be trusted. I gave him the opportunity to make it right before I took legal action and once I convinced him to do the right thing, it took him weeks to write a refund check that ended up not even being the amount it was supposed to be. He held 12k for four months and had "his crew" (two guys) do less than nine full days of work.

I will begin this review of American Home Services and Tony Diulus by saying that we began the…read morejourney of seeking a new roof, windows, skylights, gutters & downspouts. We attended a local home show and came across a company called Construction Management Services and met the owner Carmine Diulus. We had Carmine come in and give us estimates. He seemed well versed on what was needed and his price was actually pretty good. After several weeks back and forth while trying to obtain a refinance loan we ended up having to omit windows but Carmine said the price was as quoted for everything else. That was great news. We said we needed to have it all complete by mid June to which we were told would not be an issue. Soon we signed the contract with him on April 19th. From there things went south. Our skylights had been leaking and with all the rain we got in April and May it was only getting worse. I reached out to Carmine to see if we could move up on his schedule to minimize any damage due to the leaking skylights. He said it should not be a problem to at least do the roof and skylights, then go back to finish up the other stuff. We were OK with this. Well as the days turned into weeks we had not heard from Carmine even though down payment was made and check cashed. After a fairly scathing email from me I heard nothing until about a week or two later I get a call from a guy named Tony saying the guys should be there to measure for the skylights in the next couple days. I had no idea who Tony was and after a few minutes on the phone I finally got the chance to ask him and told him we were dealing with a Carmine he say's "Oh Carmine is my son" Fair enough. He said he would be taking care of our roof and things from that point. At first I thought great since Carmine seemed to fall off the face of the earth. I think it was early June before someone finally showed up to do work. A small crew of Mexican guys came to start removing the old roofing. I have no problems with that though we were told that Construction Management Services (Carmine) uses only his own guys and doesn't sub anything out. After a brief conversation with the crew leader it was obvious they didn't even know who Carmine or Tony were. Then came the wrong skylight size ordered. They completed the roof and then eventually came back several days later to replace the skylights. All in all the guys that did the actual work did a good job so no complaints there. They were led by a guy named Lou/Lew/Luis? Then came back and forth with Tony for the next several weeks to see when the gutters, downspouts, and aluminum wrapped fascia would be completed. This went on for a long time. I would get to the point twice of having to leave 2 scathing voicemails for Tony with no response. My wife asked for daily updates to which we got none. Finally a different couple of Mexican workers came to remove the gutters and downspouts. Their work was good enough though they seemed to damage some of the new drip edge while removing the gutters. Something that could have been avoided had the overall job been scheduled better. The next day yet another couple of Mexican workers came (the 3rd different crew) to install the new seemless gutters and downspouts. They, like the roofers did a great job. All in all the actual work that was done was very good and the crews that did them I would hire directly in the future if I knew who they were or how to get hold of them. As for Carmine and Tony, and whatever they are calling now or in the near future, be it American Home Services, Construction Management Services, or whatever if you see the name Diulus please, please, please run away and go with someone else!!

We contacted AHS in Latrobe after experiencing a hail storm, to get a quote on having a new roof…read moreput on. Initially, the guy that we met with was very nice, and seemed quite positive that we could also have quite a few other things replaced on the house because of hail damage. We seemed pleased with the price and signed a contract with them. The good experience ends there. After signing the contract, several months passed before we heard anything from AHS. We finally called them and we were finally sent the estimate and our insurance adjuster met with the AHS rep. A month or so after we received our estimate, our insurance company informed us that AHS had sent them two additional estimates for our house, each for THOUSANDS of dollars more than the estimate that we were given. Our insurance company opened an investigation into AHS and we were told to proceed with caution. Finally, we were told by our rep that it was getting too cold to put the roof on, and that is would be wise to wait until spring. We were fine with that, as I was about to have a baby and didn't really want to be bothered with construction on the house. As it turns out, the weekend that I had my baby was also a very warm weekend, and while we were at the hospital, AHS called and said that they were going to put our roof on. We got the message while at the hospital and called to inform them that we would be coming home with an infant and that we didn't want them at our house. We had to leave a message because the guy that called us didn't answer his phone. Upon returning home from the hospital with the baby, we found roofing material stacked in our front yard and in our driveway, and a massive dumpster in front of the house. I was livid. We called again and no one answered, so we decided to call the representative who had initially visited our house. He was very apologetic and had the material and the dumpster removed (although he asked if there was anywhere on our property that we could store the roofing materials. I said no, because I didn't want to be responsible if something was lost or stolen.) Then, once spring came, we received another call saying that it was getting warm enough to put on the roof. We were given a general time frame of when the guys would come, but we were never specifically told when they would be there. We figured they would call and give us a heads up that they were coming, but they instead just showed up and started the work without letting us know. My husband was working in the borough where we live at the time and happened to drive past the house as they were working. He was very upset that we were given no specific notice that they would be at our home on that day. To their credit, they did complete all work on our house very quickly. They put on the entire roof and put new siding on the back of the house all in one day. However, there were many mistakes that were made. An inspector for the company found several shingles were lifting, pieces of the siding were missing, and part of the covering under the window was missing. After all of those things were fixed, I began to find nails everywhere around my house. Having a small child, I worry that if he is playing in the yard, he will step or crawl on one of the nails that I haven't seen. Finally, a few months after the work was done, and long after we were sure that all of the insanity was over with, we received a bill in the mail from AHS for over $1200 for plywood that they said that they replaced on the roof. Since this was the ONLY thing on the contract that was stated that we would have to pay for out-of-pocket, and we were NEVER notified of and never approved that expense, we were VERY upset at receiving the bill. I called the lady in charge of payments and basically told her that I had had the worst experience EVER with her company, and she did cut the bill down by a few hundred dollars, but I still ended up paying nearly $1000 (Some of that was my deductible from my insurance). Since then, the payment lady (there is only one) has been inconsistent in sending me my statements, but is VERY diligent in calling and calling and calling to ask where her money is. We finally just paid the whole mess off by credit card, just to be done with it all. I honestly would NOT recommend this company to ANYONE. I hope that this will save someone the huge hassle that we went through with AHS. I truly hope that our experience is not the norm with these people, but after what we just went through, I bet it probably is. Save yourself the hassle, and take your business elsewhere.
