But as soon as I walked in, no one greeted me or said hi. I walked around for at least 10 minutes picking a handful of clothes and upset that I haven't been acknowledged. The two girls working were talking quite loud of gossip (I didn't care about the details I was just hoping one would notice I'm carrying a pile of clothes). Eventually I just got so tired I said "Can one of you please start me a fitting room", thankfully one of them walked over. As I was browsing the store she did come over once to grab another pile of clothes from me. But no other acknowledgement, no smile or how can I help you? I do understand I look young, I am mixed race, but it's getting absurd that customer service still makes customers feel this way. It was a nice sunny day and I felt so awkward when I feel like I'm bothering staff but barely acknowledging me. And I did notice, every person who walked in after me was greeted and helped. I feel like I look old enough for someone to think I'm in my career, going into a store that I am thankful to afford, and feeling again like I'm a bother in the store. Super safe during covid - they provide hand sanitizer and ask you to wear a mask when you come in. If you don't have a mask they will give you one. Currently they have a 90 day return policy, so I bought like 8 items without trying them on. Most of them actually fit really well! For the ones that don't fit I can breathe easy knowing that I have plenty of time to return them. 10/10 I would recommend this place.

Fifteen minutes, a few hundred calories, and a quick Yelp search later, I found myself standing inside of their beautiful Gastown store. First, it's hard not to be smitten by the space itself. Wood, brick, and steel seem to be Gastown staples, and this space blends the materials beautifully. At the same time though, cascading wall plants and some strategically placed trees make the space feel cozy. Factor in the ridiculously comfortable sofa near the dressing rooms, and you just might find yourself inquiring about a sublet. As for the main event, the clothing, the styles are mostly classic (with some welcome twists), the fabrics look and feel expensive, and the cuts are on the slimmer side. You can find everything from t-shirts and chinos to formal suits and sneakers (and pretty much everything in between). And the best part - the prices are actually reasonable. I have to give much deserved kudos to the wonderful staff, who made my shopping experience enjoyable from start to finish. Their patience and assistance while I seemingly tried on everything in the store was greatly appreciated. One final tidbit, make sure to enroll in their rewards program, which gives you back 4% of your in-store purchase for next-time. The credit never expires, and is stored electronically in their computer system for your convenience.

The staff was unsure on what products were in promotion which is fine, if I was in their place I wouldnt remember either. It wasn't all that bad, but I just got a negative vibe from the staff almost as if they were lifeless and annoyed. Essentially, Frank and Oak staff in this store really need to smile and greet customers as if they like being there. No attitudes despite on shitty the day is going. The atmosphere in the place felt very snotty which does not make a good shopping experience. This was also the first local clothing store I visited in Van. I asked the sales rep for advice about how to dress in this rainy city, and he said layers. Hmm? What does that mean? I had no concept of layers, because before Van I came from 27-40 degree celsius average temps, where even 1 layer of clothes was a bit much. Needless to say, I didn't own any "winter" clothes. Yeah yeah, I know Van doesn't have a *real* winter, but it's real enough for me! And the sales guy was great. He immediately rehung the jacket I was holding cause any water would've soaked right through it, and steered me towards some proper gear - water-proofed jackets layered over longer sweaters. This probably saved my life - no joke. I also love the fact that they've got something to meet the style needs of pretty much everyone. And they even have men's clothing! A bit pricey though. Yes, I bought a couple things at full price - but, I was desperate! I know better now. The best thing to do is "window-shop" and then watch for sales!
