There is always someone on the computer at the cash desk more fascinated by what is happening on it, and if you do say hello to one of he staff who work there, you're given a quick hello and not even asked if you're looking for anything -- nothing. This is a story re that is severely pretentious, knows it, and loves it. The only time anyone looks or smiles at you is when they notice you are going to buy a lot of things, then the woman who works there and the owner starts up the conversation with full smiles. It's very transparent, and leaves you not feeling important but feeling exploited for cash, only to live like look at what you bought and realize it's overpriced, easy to find the same brand and item online for 50% less than what you paid, and with better selection. This place hasn't changed its inventory since I first shopped here two years ago. All in all, there are plenty of other places like this that sell these products. My wife found a lot of stuff that they sell in the store at many big box stores. If you visit the store and worry that what you want to buy won't be there, it will. Most of the items are the same, outdated, and easy to find at an IKEA or Chapters, or a few blocks away in Chinatown.

My friend loves hats, so she couldn't resist going into Roxann's as we were walking past. I'm not a hat person, but I was in need of a cute sun hat for my upcoming trip to Vegas (at temperatures in the mid 40s, a hat is a necessity!). Roxann's has hats of all different styles--there's definitely something for everyone. And I did find the perfect hat, a cute, grey sun hat, perfect for the beach or walking around the Vegas strip. (I'll definitely bring it on my trip to Burma.) Finding a sun hat has been a struggle, because hats are always too big for me, and children's hats are too small. But this hat is adjustable--there's a draw string on the inside of the hat that you can tighten, if necessary. Brilliant! Will I ever be back? Unlikely, as it's not easy for me to get to, and I don't wear hats, but if I'm ever in the area again, I will check it out--I recall them selling waterproof hats for the rain, which interested me (carrying an umbrella is a hassle). If you like hats, definitely make a visit to Roxann's!

I've also worn Goorin Bros & Göttmann hats over the years. Fedoras, pork pie, & the mowbray styles are right up my alley. I'm not much into baseball style hats as they just don't fit my head quite right. Hats to me are part fashion & part protection - my bald head needs cover in the summer & cold winters. I recently needed a hat brim adjusted - my shooting range hat for when I'm firing away. I took notice of Cappelleria Bertacchi (Italian Hatcrafter) whenever I was in Gastown previously, so I'd thought I'd give it a go. It's not cheap, but I'm very happy & who can dare have issue with fine Italian craftsmanship!? Service was supreme - so feel free to pop in & ask anything hat related. The store is big enough to have a nice selection, but not so big that you feel overwhelmed. The aisles were all clean and everything was well organized. The store seemed dead since I went near closing time, but I hope they get more traffic. There are some very good finds to be had if you take a look around. This is a bit far from home for me but I'll be back when I'm in the area. They only lose a star for having some confusing pricing (I had to ask twice for clarification on what things cost). I'm sure this will be sorted out soon enough, as the store was brand new.
