I am highly claustrophobic to the point that all my former MRIs were in a hospital under a local anesthesia. For the FIRST time ever I was able to sit comfortable and unafraid for multiple MRIs. Have been trying to do mri on my neck for several years. Never could do it. I don't even sleep at night thinking about being in that tunnel. My Dr said I had to get one for my neck or he couldn't help me (not the first time) I've heard that. But I'm in pain and really need help. I took different pills but they didn't do a thing for my anxiety. I found the open ones but still feared the over my head part. Y'all. I am not a fearful person. At least not until I'm asked to get in a MRI machine. After having a claustrophobic reaction in a standard tube MRI, my daughter found American Dynamic Imaging's upright MRI. Christy R. greeted me warmly and helped me get checked in. I thought I was good-to-go until I sat down in the machine and started to feel that same sense of panic. I told my technician, Eric S., that I didn't think I could do this (heartbeat quickening with every word). I was ready to bolt, but Eric so very effectively helped me hit the pause button on my anxiety, telling me he'd be there with me the whole time and asked me if I just wanted to try. Try I did, and we got it done! Eric saved the day and enabled me to walk out of there with a step in the right direction for better health & a sense of victory over my anxiety. Great place for an MRI! No claustrophobic tubes and going down them head first with your head secured to the table. It's like sitting in a big chair with deep sides, but your entire front is open. You watch TV or listen to music while you are sitting and doing your MRI. Takes no more time than any other MRI and people who work here are always great! You'll love it! read more

Wow! This is how MRIs should be done:) I am claustrophobic, very very claustrophobic. An MRI was ordered for my brain and was first sent to a place with a traditional MRI. Even on Valium, there was no way I could do the traditional lay on your back with a cage over your face stuck inside a tube not much larger than your head! So I heard about this place that offered "The New MRI" and my doctor changed my script to get one at this place on my request. The minute you walk in the doors, you don't even feel like you are in a medical office, in fact it is more reminiscent of the ambiance and feel of the massage place I frequent. the best way to describe the way this New MRI looks is like a hot dog, in fact they use that as a visual when people ask about the process. So in essence, you are the hot dog sitting in a giant hot dog bun:) For head scans, what looks like a football helmet comes down over your head, but it is very very open, you don't feel claustrophobic at all! They can even play music while you are undergoing the scans and/or watch a nice sized flat screen TV in front of you. Now, I wear glasses and don't do the contact thing, so i was not watching anything but it is nice they have the option. They should dress the MRI machine up like an actual hot dog bun and give small kids the option to wear a hot dog suit and have their picture taken before and after the procedure;) In any case, I was so happy I went to this place for my MRI and got through it without any issues:) read more

I would not recommend American Dynamic Imaging in Hurst. Either their equipment is malfunctioning or the radiologist is not reading the results correctly. I have proof from other MRI's that easily verify the discrepancies. However, when I called their office to report the problem, they would not discuss it with me and were not concerned. I would definitely not recommend them. read more

Prior to coming to this office, I was at a regular closed MRI facility. I am claustrophobic and freaked out! I couldn't do the scan. My doctor recommended this place and they worked me into their schedule the day of. All of the employees were extremely nice. The MRI tech walked me through the scan step-by-step, and I was calm and relaxed the entire time. read more

I recently went in for several MRI's because my medical provider had ordered an MRI of my entire spine. I have panic attacks in closed machines and have to be medicated to tolerate them. American Dynamic Imaging has an open MRI, so I did not need medication. They also have a staff that was very patient with me. They made a very painful and stressful situation much easier. I recently was scheduled for an MRI there and being very claustrophobic, was told it would be a 'sitting' MRI w/o contrast but, when I got there, wasn't afforded a sitting MRI but, in turn made to wear some enhancement belt, and placed on my right side 'squashed' in between the two pieces of the machine...no Xanax etc given; needless to say I was very exasperated and quite easily became flush which almost resulted in becoming sick upon exiting the machine:( But, was really disappointed when my orthopedic Dr read the films and was quoted as saying: 'they were in poor quality'....I don't think I will use this place again :( read more

I am extremely claustrophobic and this is the best MRI I ever had. No fear at all, you sit and watch TV with a fan blowing on you and it is the most relaxed I have ever been for an MRI. I would recommend this to everyone. read more

I am extremely claustrophobic and it is mandatory that i have the fully open MRI machines. that look like a sandwich cookie, i am also not able to sit upright for long periods of time. when this office called to schedule the appointment, i asked for this type of machine when setting up the appt. i was told they had that machine and everything would be fine. i get to my appt today and was asked to squeeze myself into the upright MRI. this set off a panic attack that has been making me vomit. i was told, that i was not going in so to just shut it out. excuse me!!! how do you just shut out a panic attack? i am not fond of the other MRI machines but i can move my arms if needed and legs too. this helps. but to be squeezed into a machine where you can not move at all is not an open machine. the staff made me feel like it was my fault. when they did not gave correct information. and to top it all off,i lost a days pay to go to this location, just to be unable to complete my tests. now i will have to wait for at least a month to get the testing i desperately need, because i can not take another day off work. do not use this location. read more

What downgrades the experience for me as a patient is being called over and over by representatives of this facility and asked to change the appointment time. This happened to me three times in the two days. Yes, these are open MRIs, which should help anyone who is claustrophobic. But the technician also shared and I subsequently learned through research that the accuracy is far less than with the closed MRI machines. The magnets used in the open systems are much weaker. I did not choose this facility; my doctor did. If given the choice in the future, I won't return here. read more
