We had our A/C go out during the hottest summer on record. Owner of American Appliance Merrill K (who installed it 7 years ago ) came twice, charged me $340 for both appointments and never found the problem as he misdiagnosed the problem both times. After the second time he told me he doesn't guarantee his work. Then had the balls to tell me to You Tube how to fix that he didn't. YES Appliance came out and had to put $600 worth of Freon in after he found a leak (that Merrill missed). I've heard that his other techs do a better job. If he shows up ask for a different tech. Our A/C unit stopped working on Sunday evening before Labor Day. To late to call for service. Called around for service on Labor Day and all we called charged extra for the holiday! Except American Appliance. Plus we got a referral from our son. They were there in about 20 minutes! Total cost was $150.00, including service call. While they were here we had them bid to replace our 25 year old furnace and leaking A/C unit. We had another business make a bid a few months ago. American Appliance beat the other bid by $4,000.00! Their bid included the furnace, outside A/C unit, and inside coil unit. The other bid did not include the inside unit. All parts are Rheem with 10 year warrantees. The service techs were fantastic! The workmanship is awesome and excellent. The installation was completed in one day. read more

I don't know how to feel about this place. The tech was very nice and respectful, although 35 minutes late. I have a leak from my fridge, and about once a week I'll get a small puddle underneath on my hardwood floors. The tech took my fridge apart and could not find the source. After about an hour he shrugged his shoulders and threw his hands up and blamed it on the manufacturer. Even though he didn't fix anything I still got the full bill for the house call. I'm not mad about paying as they have a business to run, and he tried I guess. I wish they would've tried something else or made an attempt to go the extra mile. Please beware of this company. They were called out by our home warranty company to look at our dryer. It was working but would take 2-3 cycles to dry completely. First visit the repair man broke a part on our dryer leaving me with no dryer. We are a family of 6 and he said well it might be weeks before I can come back and fix it. Mind you he broke the dryer so it's not even working now. Long story short on the second visit my husband caught him in a huge lie. He said he fixed something on the motherboard and my husband started questioning him. He finally said to my husband "I need to come clean with you because I didn't know you would be knowledgeable" He then admitted he lied about fixing the motherboard. Thank goodness my husband was there. Seriously this has been a huge nightmare, save yourself and don't use this company. read more

Terrible service. Unfortunately I wasn't able to choose the repair company since I use a third party home warranty company that chose for me. I am writing this review on March 20, 2021. I was scheduled for a simple dishwasher heating element repair that I probably could've completed on my own and found the part for cheaper than what the service fee cost me. This repair was scheduled for October 26, 2020. I was told by the technician that due to COVID, the part was a couple weeks out and that he would give me a call when the part was in so he could come and replace it. Two weeks passed with no update. I decided to call in to American Appliance when the technician told me the same thing. I have called every several weeks for the last 5 months with no update. My dishwasher just finished a load and I will Be drying the dishes by hand. Again. read more

American Appliance is far superior than other companies in their integrity alone. My furnace went out so I called Any Hour at 630 am since they were the only place open at that hour and they had a promo for a $29 service call. They sent a tech out around noon, which I thought was very reasonable. After the diagnosis the tech said that the motor was fried and would be $750 plus tax and labor, there was a cracked pipe leaking water that would be $60 plus tax and labor. So I called for a second opinion with American Appliance Heating and Air. I did not mention to them that I had Any Hour there earlier. They came within two hours of calling them. Their tech said the motor was over charging and needed replacing and would be $279 plus tax. I then asked him about the pipe that appeared to be cracked, after examination he said that it was not cracked, it was how the manufacturer designed it. All it would need is a little sealant in the spot that was dripping. All in all, the cost of repair was $320 labor included. I decided to get bids from both companies on a full furnace replacement as well since the unit is 23 years old. Any Hour quoted me $3650 plus tax for a 90% efficient, 100k btu furnace. American Appliance quoted me $1945 total with tax and labor and everything for the same 90% efficient, 100k furnace. The tech from Any Hour seemed more like a salesman than a tech. All he did was look around my home and tell me about everything that needed to be upgraded. American Appliance is very reliable. They replaced my furnace within 48 hours and provided great service. The techs never tried to sell me anything extra or increase prices or anything. I highly recommend them. read more

The repairman that came to my home was a complete jerk. When I asked if there could be something else wrong with the unit he told me for $150 more he could do a comprehensive run. Jerks! My wife called American Appliance to have them look at our washer which was having problems draining. A service person came out, took a look (including taking apart the washer), and recommended buying not one but two major parts - and made no guarantee that purchasing those parts would help! My wife went to turn on the washer soon after the service person left and now the machine won't even turn on!! Immediately called their office on Friday afternoon at 3 pm to have them fix their own work, but got a recorded message that said "It's outside of their work hours." Complete jerks!! I don't know where to start. I can't decide if it was the incompetence or the impudence that has made me never want to deal with them again. They came out four times to fix our air conditioner (it was actually only three, because they no-showed on one of the scheduled times). Now, this group of imbeciles was assigned to us from our home warranty company, Landmark. I called Landmark and said I didn't want to deal with them again after the second visit. They said they would get someone out to us again as soon as they could. They were rude, unprofessional, couldn't keep a damn schedule and showed up at a time we never set, and cancelled or delayed all of our actual appointments. We ended up getting another company to come out and the technician was there for about 90 minutes and the problem was solved. If you like being jerked around, treated poorly, and playing appointment roulette, this is the place for you. Frankly one star is far more than they deserve. read more

She was pleasant, helpful and reached out to a tech. Ultimately had me call one. All very helpful. Sent Joe out to work on it and if you're lucky you'll get him. I used American Appliance for a few years and was very happy. However, the technicians I knew are gone and my last repair was a disaster. My furnace was intermittently shutting itself off before desired temp was reached. They told me it was a bad infuser ($200), but I was still have problems. They came back and told me my problem was due to a dirty sensor, which they cleaned for me. When the problem didn't go away, a senior tech came out and told me it was shutting off because the circuit board was going bad ($400). After installing the new parts, the issue was still there. Happy ending...I finally called someone else (Hansen HVAC) and they found and fixed the issue right away (a simple Limit switch...which is DESIGNED to shutoff furnace prematurely if it gets too hot (self-preservation feature). How can any tech miss that?!!! I clearly called the wrong company:( read more

Their customer service is horrible! I'm expected to wait for a three hour window but they wouldn't wait beyond 5 minutes for me to get home. Now, I'm without an operational furnace. Worse is that they didn't fix it the first time they came out. Their customer service manager, Sara, told me I could go to someone else. Problem. I have had these guys out three times, first time I thought the dryer motor was shot, turns out a pencil fell in and jammed it, $40. Second time Refrigerator stopped working, figured it would be expensive. Turns out a hose had a hole and needed replacing $100, Third time water was a heater replacement, very good deal. Wow! Merrill and Sam saved the day! My rental home's carbon monoxide went off. Come to find out the furnace had a cracked heat exchanger. (Thank goodness we had a Carbon Monoxide detector in the house!) This is the week before Christmas and Merrill and Sam came out and installed a new furnace the next day. Came out to trouble shoot a working dishwasher that needed some maintenance. Decided it needed a new sensor. Waited for a week for them to order the part and come out again. When they left the dishwasher was leaking all over the place. Called and asked if they could come fix it. They came the next day said they had lost part of the new part and would be back that afternoon. Then they no showed. After a weekend without a dishwasher called Monday and asked when they would be there, promised that afternoon. They no showed again. When calling this afternoon they said they couldn't come because other people have appointments. Even though my appointment from two weeks ago was still not complete and worse than when they started. After taking now four days to sit home and wait for them to come. I still don't have a dishwasher. They refuse to let us speak to manager. read more

Merrill may be cranky at times (and we still love him), but he is an honest worker and very knowledgeable when it comes to boilers. Just be really careful. This company does contract with American Homeshield, and if they are assigned to your case, you may want to request a different provider. The guy came and was so nice to me. He told me he would advocate on my behalf to get a strobing light fixed on my fridge. I paid $100 for the service call. He told me he needed to get approval to do the work, and he promised he would speak to them about how terrible this problem is and indicate we really need to get to it fixed. What happened instead: he wrote AHS and said "this problem does not interfere with cooling functions on the fridge." I just don't think they were going to profit enough and didn't want to deal with the hassle of this kind of repair. AHS gives contractors a certain set amount for certain repairs, and I believe my job was just too much of a headache. So even though he did tell me he wanted to help because the strobing light was really a nuisance as well as seizure inducing, he wrote exactly what he needed to on the authorization to ensure it would be declined. AHS took my $100 and the problem remains. Be very careful. read more

Our refrigerator completely died the Thursday before Memorial Day. We called American Appliance on Friday and they had a repairman out to look at it Saturday. We were impressed! Repair guy found problem immediately and ordered parts right in our kitchen from his smartphone. He indicated he should be back within just a few day to replace the part and finish up. And then...nothing. He did not come back. We did not hear anything for nearly a week. On Thursday I called the office and they seemed to have no idea what was going on. I called back the next day again and this time they sent me to Repair guy's own voicemail. Somebody finally got back to me and scheduled a final appointment for the following Tuesday--and at this point we had been without a refrigerator for over a week! Monday night they called and tried to reschedule me for Thursday and I laughed at them and they agreed to keep the original Tuesday appointment. Repair guy was in and out in like 30 minutes. Everything is working fine. So if I was basing this just on their ability to repair things--it would be 5 stars. But I'm bouncing it down to 3 (and I toyed with 2) because their timeliness and service is RIDICULOUS. read more

Brad came to do a diagnosis on our whirlpool front load dryer and said the motor was out. The next week he came and installed the motor and after an hour or so here said he got the wrong part. The next week after that he came again and installed the correct motor and it still wasn't working. He said it was the moisture sensor so he came again the next week to install if, but then said it was probably the control board not the moisture sensor..wth?! He finally told us it would be cheaper to get a used dryer than for him to fix it. We paid $65 for nothing. read more

Not sure where to start here, put in a new home owner insurance claim as the furnace we have is extremely old and not working. Prior to signing the insurance, we had a professional come out and tell us, there is a recall on this furnace from the 90s, they do not make parts for it anymore and it's best to have it replaced. So, AA shows up, first thing he says, I don't have tools or parts to fix this, he proceeds to rig it so that it will work for a few hours to a day, which it did, and then gives us a list of things to purchase in order to make it run....wait, we called you out to fix it, not give us a list of things on how we can fix it on our own. Sure enough, we get what was asked, furnace won't turn on. We even showed him the diagnosis and report from the other professional. I have to imagine going through our insurance company must not pay them the full amount they would receive if insurance was not involved. What a shame and totally unprofessional. So now we have no heat for the next few days as another company comes out to diagnosis the furnace. read more

I am surprised of the high ratings this company has. Though I initially had a great experience when they installed a new furnace for me last year, I have called multiple times because it was installed incorrectly. At first the furnace hadn't been wired correctly, then when summer hit, I found out they hadn't wired the air conditioning correctly either. Now that I have hit a year with my new furnace, I am having to have parts replaced on it. I can't believe I have had so many problems with them, but others seem to not have the same issues. They were sent to our home through the warranty company. The service guy came out to look at the dishwasher for the second time. He opens the door and tries to pull it out by the door. Long story short he broke the spring on the door, broke one of the feet off, and cracked the pump housing. Made a mess of the kitchen with water everywhere. Did not have anything with him to clean it up, went to his truck to get some rags cleans some of the water up and the said "I'm out of here". We contacted them and we were told a supervisor was not available for 3 weeks. We purchased a new dish washer and it was installed before they showed up. We ask what they could do for us and they said nothing because they had no proof their service guy did it. We called back and ask to speak to the owner and they said they would page him. It has been a week and have not heard from him. Do not use this appliance repair shop!!! read more

I was set up with this company through a home warranty claim. I called their office a few minutes before 5pm. Maddie was incredibly nice and accommodating. I am new to Utah and now have an appliance company I'll call every time. The technician (Sam) came to my home within a couple hours and fixed my AC unit on the spot. FYI my appointment wasn't until Friday and this is the busy season. Couldn't be happier and my house guests will appreciate their work as well! read more

We'll never use them again and would never recommend them to anyone. We had them come out for a furnace winter tune-up last month before turning it on at our recently bought house. He left saying the furnace was fine, but neglected to even look at the thermostat to see if it worked....it didn't. I would think long and hard about using this company. Their technician Joe did a piss poor job repairing my fridge. It cools now which is true. It also runs so loud I can hear it throughout my entire house. When I called they sent him back out, he said that is how it should sound. I have had this fridge 5 years, pretty sure I know how it should sound. It never sounded like a small crop duster flying around inide of it. They came out to fix our AC, looked at the filter, said it was dirty and left after a $75 service call. We left for a week's vacation the next day and came home to a 90 degree house! When we called to have them come back, they wanted to charge us, not only another service call, but a $50 emergency fee because it was Sunday. They clearly failed to diagnose the original problem, but now won't come make it right without a $125 charge. We paid them to fix our AC, they didn't do it and now they want to charge us again. I had American Appliance install an A/C unit into my existing furnace. Their work was a little sloppy and I think they were more concerned with finishing the job and moving on to the next job than making sure they do quality work. They did remove (and disposed of) my swamp cooler and patch my roof at a good price, so that made up for the sloppy install. Came to look at a/c after lines & evaporator coil froze. It took 5 visits to finally diagnose problem & fix it over a 2 week period that required wife to miss 2 days of work, I missed 5 hours. They 1st cleaned debris from a/c lines, 2 hrs later it was frozen again could not come back same day, 2nd fix was a new TXV expansion valve, 2 hrs later all was frozen again could not come back for a few days, next was to top off Freon, two hrs later all frozen, 4th visit they finally actually look at & measure air flow thru coils (shouldnt this have been done on 1st visit as part of overall $60 diagnosis?) & found evaporator coils were dirty & required 2 hrs of cleaning that they could not do on that visit so they made a 5th visit, refused to give a discount of any kind!! Not even the KSL $10 of $100 or more! They said their repairs build off each other in order to diagnose!
