The…read morebrown, rigid buildings with the pale beige to cream colored wall and florescent lighting and no frills make you feel like you could be on a movie set straight out films like Wargames or Real Genius or Space Camp. Unlike a lot of metropolitan airports that have updated and renovated over the decades, Norfolk has retained the same aesthetic but it is a dependable airport. The terminals are clearly defined once inside. Where you go to check in is easy and stress free. There are food options both within the terminals past security check as well as before hand. It's fairly stress free where there was no terminal that is specifically overcrowded. While an international airport, Norfolk does have a regional feel that is not as full throttle. It certainly feels easier to navigate and not as cramped as say Asheville that is a regional airport. Overall, it was solid.

The bathroom is ok accessibility wise. A wheelchair user might find the one disabled stall to be a bit cramped, but you can fit the chair in there. The toilet isn't too high off the ground, so a transfer could be easier than some locations. I am five feet tall and my feet don't reach the floor on the toilet. The door has a hook that is only a few feet off the ground so a person in a wheelchair or of short stature could easily reach it. There is a large inset shelf above the toilet upon which belongings can be placed. There are grab bars behind and beside the toilet. However, the grab bar beside the toilet is almost completely useless because the toilet paper dispenser blocks you from grabbing it. There is another vertical grab bar above that, it wouldn't work for a wheelchair user. The main bathroom space has a built in footstool for the sink and a needle disposal container. The sinks are too tall for a wheelchair user.

The customer service team assists travelers with managing existing bookings, updating itineraries, exploring alternative travel options, and addressing questions throughout the travel process. As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. Unfortunately, this Southwest Airlines experience fell short of expectations. I paid an extra **$140** for seats that appeared to offer a better arrangement during the booking process. However, after my wife and I boarded the aircraft, we realized the seating layout differed from what had been displayed at purchase. Paying additional fees only to encounter an uncomfortable seating situation was disappointing. My assigned seat, **6K**, lacked adequate cushioning, making the journey more uncomfortable than expected. I relied on extra pillows and blankets for lower back support throughout much of the flight. On longer trips, seat comfort can make a significant difference in the overall passenger experience. The customer service process proved equally frustrating. I first contacted an agent in Detroit seeking clarification regarding my flight details and aircraft information. I was then transferred to another department, believed to be located in Chicago, where I was informed they could not assist and was given yet another number to call. That representative ultimately redirected me back to the original Detroit contact. Only after several calls and repeated explanations did an agent finally provide the information I had requested from the start. After boarding, I found the aircraft itself attractive and well-maintained, and most of the flight attendants appeared hardworking and professional despite managing a busy cabin. However, the overall environment deteriorated as the flight progressed. A number of passengers were noisy and inconsiderate, and the lavatories became increasingly untidy within a few hours, with wet floors and sinks requiring attention. Although the cabin crew deserved recognition for their efforts and professionalism, the inconsistent customer service, uncomfortable seating experience, and declining cleanliness ultimately overshadowed the positives. Based on this experience, I would strongly compare alternatives before booking Southwest Airlines for a similar trip in the Future. Southwest Airlines has always been our go to airline because they had the two bags fly free deal, but recently that has ended so my feelings about flying different airlines has changed. We all like options right? Yes of course we do!. But overall I will keep my options open!.

Southwest does not accommodate young travelers/families like other airlines. While they do offer boarding, it's after groups A & B. I'm also used to leaving a car seat at the gate for pickup as soon as we get off. As soon as we entered the plane, I asked the flight attendant if I was fine to leave my car seat there & they agreed. Southwest also has an open seating plan, meaning you don't have an assigned seat, you just pick one once you get in the plane. After we found seats & stowed out bag, they called out on the speaker of whose car seat was at the gate. I raised my hand & they were like why wasn't it checked. I said I confirmed several times it was good to go. I didn't appreciate being belittled by the lady (not sure of her name but she is at the desk in the picture. Had Southwest made their rules & policies about car seats clear, I would have properly followed them. This flight felt chaotic from the time we lined up to board until the plane took off. While I can appreciate the reasonably priced flights during the holiday time, the customer service & family friendly flights are just not what Southwest is about.

She worked closely with me to find activities that were both interesting & fun, while staying within my budget. I think most agents would have encouraged me to take a cruise but I much prefer to spend my time experiencing the culture & the people, doing walking tours, kayaking, & spending time exploring. Gretchen really listened & built an amazing trip!! Although it's taken me quite a while to write this review, I think she deserves the highest recommendation for her tireless efforts to provide a smooth travel experience. She was happy to answer any questions & even provided me a detailed printed & electronic itinerary. Since I was traveling alone, I relied completely upon her expertise. I highly recommend her services!!

Gretchan worked with us for months planning flights, seats, hotels, location, tours, eurostar train tickets. Our trip was US to Germany to London and home. Gretchen made us an itinerary printed everything had it all in order with the exact airline seats, class of tickets/seats and followed any airline changes. She collected all the tickets for tours and any tickets we needed printed them and mailed them in a packet to us. She followed our trip via email to make sure we had everything, and things were going as planned. She made sure we had travel insurance and a checklist of everything we needed to take care of for international travel. She is very well educated and prepared. She truly cared that our trip was exactly as we imagined and dreamed of. I would recommend her to, not just anyone, but everyone! I am not a friend or family member. This review is from a real customer. I have already begun to plan a cruise for next year with her.
