Never again! I used this service with great success in 2011, so naturally I turned to them when preparing to travel in 2012. What a mistake! I contacted them WEEKS in advance for an airport pick up on April 1. No response. Not a call, not an email. I wasn't sure they were even still in business! (I live in Chicago.) So I called the hotel I was staying with and asked them for suggestion. They only recommended one company, and it wasn't Tidewater. I now know why. Imagine my surprise when yesterday -- FINALLY, after weeks of silence and within days of my arrival -- I got a very presumptive email telling me that they had indeed deigned to pick me up, with instructions and charges. By now, of course, I had booked with the other firm. To cushion the blow, I lied and told Steve from Tidewater that I was initially only asking for an estimate, that my plans weren't firm and I'd let him know when my trips were firm. After all, they had treated me well a year ago. What a difference a year makes! And funny how fast he can respond when it suits him. He answered back the next morning that he had no way of knowing from email that it wasn't a reservation. Well, gee, Steve, do you never confirm that you're doing business with clients? So I wrote back, "Waiting as long as you did to get back to me (weeks), I had no way of knowing you had me booked. I think this means perhaps we would both be more comfortable if I went with another option when I come to Richmond. Thank you for your time." He answered back WITHIN MINUTES. Instead of apologizing, he said "Sounds good." Airport transport in a city a traveler is not all that familiar with can be nerve wracking. What about security? What about traffic to and from the airport? I travel a lot on business and most car services appreciate this. Since this trip was for leisure, I gave Tidewater a lot of notice, and thought that since I was being considerate they would respond in kind and, at the very least, get back to me to acknowledge my business. Wow! Easiest shuttle experience I've ever had. The vehicles were nice, clean, and comfortable. My drivers were professional and courteous. I had great communication with Steve prior to my trip. Fares were communicated clearly via email (and on the website too). My arrangements were confirmed almost immediately. Steve answered my questions about their shuttle service promptly and made the whole shuttle experience a breeze. I would use their services again in a heartbeat. What I liked best is their willingness to track your flight and call or text you to confirm their arrival or standby status. They took a lot of the guess work and chaos of something that usually stresses me out. My driver arrived early both times to pick me up and got me to my destination promptly and without a hitch. Outstanding, our plane was late,delayed,delayed again, boarded and taxied around for a while then back to the gate and finally canceled. We had to stay the night and fly on the first flight the next day. Steve was on top of it all, I received several calls during the delay fiasco, and it was clear that Steve was monitoring my flight number. After we finally arrived the next day, Steve was waiting, and took us straight to our hotel. Arriving the morning of our meeting was not ideal, and again Steve helped us out, he waited for us to check in and took us straight to the meeting location. I used Tidewater for the first time yesterday and it was a superb experience. I made a reservation via internet 2 days in advance and Steve replied to me quickly. When I asked to change the time the day before, again a quick, affirmative response. He arrived exactly on time and delivered me safely to the airport. I would use Tidewater again with no hesitation. Steve and Tidewater Coach were fabulous. He was ready and waiting when we arrived at Newport News airport and got us to the Williamsburg Lodge in no time. Very nice personality and he was knowledgeable about the area. Our conference ended early and he happily accommodated our request to have a later departure time so we ladies could get in some last minute shopping.
