This is the 2nd time I have met Tomasz. The first time he came out in February to give me an estimate to re-side a small portion of my home. His estimate was about $1K higher than other competitively priced estimates so I did not use him. He did mention that if I call him come May, he would come back and help me get a quote on a new roof (saying that insurance would likely cover it). He showed me some badge he had showing that he was a certified inspector for roofs of some sort. I hung onto his info for future reference. I recently had a roof leak after the heavy rains we've had and I decided to call about 5 contractors to come give me a bid on a new roof. In the interim, I also called my insurance company and opened a claim as the large wind storm had blown shingles off the roof. Upon arrival he immediately began talking over me, he was being pushy, and basically wasn't listening to a word I was saying when I was trying to explain that I needed an estimate on the roof, that I had already filed an insurance claim, and needed to know what needed to be repaired and how much that would cost. He literally YELLED at me to the point I felt bullied. He couldn't believe I had called the insurance company myself (RED FLAG in my opinion) and that he was the one that needed to have a representation agreement in hand with him and he wanted to call the insurance company and set up the appointment with the adjustor himself. I believe he forgot it was MY ROOF and I am the client. I don't scam insurance companies (and am not sure if that was what he was trying to do), but I certainly don't need to be told how to handle my own insurance claim and business. I was not about to sign an agreement with a man who was being rude to me and also who wouldn't give me the estimate of which I originally requested. He then wanted to see the damage on the inside of the house and we went in. My friend, a contractor, was working on my bathroom remodel inside the house at the time. Tomasz was so arrogant and strutted through my house like he owned it. At one point Tomasz literally brushed my friend away with his hand (like a "get out of my way whoever you are..."). I was absolutely stunned and didn't know what to do. He continued to treat me in this same fashion. I didn't have the nerve to scream "just leave my house and never come back" but I should have. I was irate. I have never met a more arrogant, pompous businessman in my life and would never do business with anyone like him. He showed up in a flashy outfit, nice shoes, etc....I would much prefer my roofer to come in looking like they actually do the work, not scam customers or insult them. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY! I had some leaky gutters that I needed replaced and had a couple different contractors give me estimates. Tommy from Ameribuild was able to stop by the same day and gave me a good price. His crew was out in less than a week to do the work. They were fast and cleaned up everything nicely. They were even willing to take my old leaf guards off and just put them back on the new gutters, whereas all the other places I got estimates from were trying to sell me completely new ones that I don't really need. I was even more impressed when I called them back over a month later with the request to not have the one gutter spout go into the ground like it had been originally setup. Needed a new roof for some time and finally my insurance company helped me make the decision, new roof or no insurance. I went about getting quotes and came across Ameribuild. Tomasz came out and looked at the roof and took some measurements and within a few hours he came back with a quote that included everything needed(and suggested by the others who had quoted) including a new skylight and power fan plus top of the line lifetime shingles. His quote was several thousand dollars less than the nearest competitor. When it came time to do the work the crew showed up on time and worked their butts off. They protected my property and the neighbors(no complaints from my neighbors says a lot) and finished up the project in 1 1/2 days. They cleaned up the best they could as there was snow on the ground. The snow melted over the weekend and they came back early in the morning on Monday and finished cleaning everything. I recently purchased a 2-flat that I knew had to have a new roof and gutters. The roof had four layers of shingle with no plywood sheathing. I had gotten several bids before I ran across a Mastershield booth at the garden show at Navy Pier. I thought it would be nice to get a bid from someone who specializes in one area. The Mastershield representative came out and gave me a really good analysis of my gutter problem along with a good quote, but the roof needed to be done first. He recommended Ameribuild saying that he had been working with them for 8 years. He said that could have someone stop by that day to analyze my roof and give me a quote. Thomas Wasilewski stopped by that evening and the next morning I had a straight forward but detailed quote in my e-mail inbox. The descriptions of services and material was equal to all the other quotes I received, but the price was the best I had received. I know you should never base choosing your contractors based solely on price. I was a little hesitant to use them because at the time, there were no reviews on the internet. So I look up their credentials; a BBB rating of A, license, bonded and insured, and great testimonials on their website. My husband does an lot of commercial property inspections and grew up helping his carpenter father so he ask him a few question regarding the job and was happy with the answers so we took the leap and hired them and they started five days later. The crew was fast, efficient, and well orchestrated. They did a great job of cleaning up not just our yard, but the neighbors. Tom was very attentive, honest, and professional making sure that everything was being done to the highest standards and addressing any concerns that I had. Within 3 days I had a great looking new roof and gutters. The only negative I would have is the crew used my grill without asking, but I was not home when they were taking their break, so I cannot completely fault them. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the results. And it was a relief to know that after the job was done, that Ameribuild guarantees there labor for two years. I recently had my roof and gutters replaced by them and I definitely recommend this company. The contractor came to the house to perform the inspection, provided me with a quote. He was very professional and was able to start the job within the next few days. He wasn't pushy or acting like a salesman which was very nice. The roof and gutters were done in two days. Thomas stopped by during the first day when the roof was finished and ensured that the job was going smoothly and he contacted me once letting me know that there were spots on the roof that needed wood replaced (since I was at work). He recommended that i remove my old vents and go with a ridge vent at the time he came out to inspect the house. Ameribuild and Restoration have been great! I have lived in my house for nearly 10 years, and dreaded the green shingles that upset the color balance of my home. However, due to financial crisis I never considered changing my roof - it was long due for repair. My thinking changes after most of my neighbors changes their roofs. Needed a new roof as it was getting old and I thought I might of had some damage to the roof and aluminum siding from a storm. A friend recommended me to Ameribuild, as he had some work done to his house by them. Tommy came out, thoroughly inspected my roof and siding and advised me that the roof needed replacing and the siding was damaged by hail and he felt he could work with my insurance company for payment of the roof and siding as he stated he was a public adjuster. A week and a half later he met my insurance adjuster at my home to go over the damage he found. After spending an hour or so with the insurance adjuster, he was able to get the roof and siding damaged to be covered by my insurance company. I was elated! Tommy had set up an installation date with me and a week later the work started. The roof was done in a day. They then started on the siding after the roof and completed that in a few days. Tomaz and his company put a new roof on our home about a year ago. They did a very good job, were careful with my garden and our neighbor's properties, and were very professional. They also replaced a roof window and a roof vent fan. This Spring, the roof vent fan started making a terrible racket. Tomaz sent one of his roofers to check it, but it wasn't running when he came, so there wasn't much that he could tell. Since the problem and loud vibration continued, Tomaz came over himself, and found that the fan was loose, and secured it properly. Tomaz responded to our calls and emails promptly, and stood by his work, when he could have just brushed us off. He did not charge us anything for this either.
