We drive from Alpharetta to enjoy two Ocean Pirch plates and in house chocolate cake. So worth the drive and gas, lol. Love it!

It's actually hilarious that I've been in this parking lot SO many times for neighboring spots like…read moreLee + White Food Hall and somehow never realized Boxcar was right there! My friend and I wanted to try something different, and when she suggested Boxcar, I literally asked, "Where is that?" She pointed out that it was in the same area we'd been standing in countless times. For anyone visiting for the first time, it is a little tucked away past the food hall. You'll also need to walk up a set of stairs to reach the restaurant, which is worth knowing ahead of time if stairs are inconvenient or inaccessible for you. Once inside, I really liked the atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating, but with the Georgia heat that day, there was absolutely no discussion--we were sitting INSIDE. Our server was Najah (please forgive me if I'm misspelling!), and she was AWESOME. Such a warm spirit, great energy, and exactly the type of person you'd want greeting you whether it's your first visit or your tenth. Since this was my first time, I asked for recommendations. We started with the Boom Boom Shrimp from the happy hour menu, which is available Monday through Friday until 7 PM. The shrimp? 10/10. No notes! For our entrées, my friend ordered the fish and chips, which she loved--and it came with hush puppies, so really, how could you go wrong? I ordered the Bourbon Bacon Jam Smashburger, and it was cooked perfectly. I don't even remember being asked how I wanted it cooked, but somehow they knew exactly what needed to happen. And that bacon jam?! I LOVE a sweet-and-salty combination, so it was right up my alley. The fries were fire too, but apparently I was feeling a little greedy because I noticed mac & cheese on the menu and decided I needed that as well. LISTEN. I would've been perfectly happy if somebody had taken away everything else and left me alone with that mac & cheese. It was THAT good. Easily 20/10. I actually had to ask Najah who made it because I needed to understand what exactly was happening back there! She told me about the chef, who is Caribbean and from New York, and as someone with Caribbean roots who is also from New York, I may be a little biased--but suddenly I understood why that mac & cheese spoke to my spirit the way it did. I've literally been telling people about it ever since. There's still so much on the menu that caught my attention, including the lamb burger, Brussels sprouts, short rib, and several other dishes. I've included a picture of the menu because there's definitely more exploring to do here. As far as seating, Boxcar seems pretty versatile. There were just two of us, but there's plenty of indoor seating along with bar seating, and I could easily see a group of around 10-12 being comfortable. I also noticed what appeared to be a separate space toward the back that may be available for larger gatherings. Between Najah's wonderful service, the atmosphere, everything we ordered, and THAT MAC & CHEESE, Boxcar absolutely earned a return visit. I've already been bragging about the mac & cheese to everybody who will listen, so now I'm looking forward to finding out what I'll be bragging about after my next visit.

Lee and White is a massive warehouse with a food hall and other businesses attached. It's right on the Beltline, making it a popular place to hang out. Parking is usually a challenge because this place is always packed. The good thing is that it's free for 2-hours and some places validate for longer. Boxcar is located near the front entrance of Lee and White. Inside is very relaxed and chill like a typical brewery. It wasn't very crowded and most of my party was already there when I arrived. Service was fairly quick and pleasant. I decided to order a side of Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and a chicken Cobb salad. Both were fine, but nothing to rave about. I felt that the Brussels could have been crispier. I probably wouldn't come back here, but glad I could try a new spot.

Truly in love…read more Visited this place for morning brunch and sat outside with the bebè and the puppers and had some amazing food! Came back for some late night Tortas (the wait was long but I found out later you can order ahead). Since I had to wait i grabbed a seat and a beer at the bar and was amazed at the choices from drafts to cans to liquor! Social distancing and COVID safety is practiced here so I felt comfortable waiting for my food and would even come back on a cold day and sit inside! Near the beltline so perfect to take a walk after! The food was phenomenal and reasonable priced, as was the draft beer IMO. Trying to sneak a fair priced house over here but until then glad we have so many great places on this side of town!! You don't have to even get into atlanta traffic from the south side to make it over here and it's less crowded if you want to access the beltline during the pandemic.

The bartender Ida, decides with no real merit to their word that they need to bully me until I left. Which is inexplicable to me since I don't bring my own problems from home, as a PATRON. I have no idea why I suddenly need to be made to feel unwelcome. If it means protecting my peace, from someone's misery. It's certainly not worth it?

We finally made it to Gus's yall!! I've been wanting to…read morevisit this place for quite some time and today was our time to shine. Very convenient location!! As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Naee who informed us that we can sit anywhere we choose. Soon after we sat, we ordered. Hubby ordered a 2 piece white w baked beans and greens I ordered 2 piece dark w baked beans and fries. 2 fresh brewed sweet teas please !! There was a short wait. Roughly 20 minutes. I didn't mind. I knew the food was cooked to order. I enjoyed watching horse racing on their TV, and people watching. The dining area is spacious, and clean. As soon as our food was up, it was on! The chicken was so fresh, tender, and well seasoned. I love the spiciness level. The baked beans were ok. A lot of flavor, a little sweet. The greens were great! I loved the flavor and consistency. The fries were pretty great too! Fresh and crispy. We enjoyed so much that we were planning our next visit, while sitting there eating during this visit !! Lol The sweet tea was good. I added a little water to it. I would certainly order again. I snatched a slice of fresh baked sweet potato pie to eat later. Later came, it was good straight out the fridge, great heated up. In true saving the best for last spirit, NAEE !! She was amazing from beginning to end. Sweet, personable, and consistent. She answered all of our initial menu questions, checked on us at the perfect times and made sure we didn't want for anything. This place is a must visit! You will not be disappointed.

**Huge Difference Between the Dark and White Meat -- Do Yourself a Favor and Order the DARK MEAT!**…read more What We Ordered: 2 Pieces of Dark Meat: Absolutely amazing! The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. You could really taste the subtle spices in every bite. This chicken alone would have earned a 5-star rating! Coleslaw: Delicious, creamy, and the perfect side to complement the chicken. Baked Beans: Highly recommend! These were a standout side and definitely a must-try. 2 Pieces of White Meat: Unfortunately, this was a huge disappointment. The chicken was dry, chewy, and lacked flavor. Honestly, it tasted like a completely different restaurant made it! Mac and Cheese: Nothing special. It was lacking flavor and didn't really stand out. Fried Okra: Surprisingly tasty! This was a nice addition to the plate. **Overall Experience:** The dark meat was SO good that I would have easily given this place 5 stars based on that alone. However, the difference between the dark and white meat was mind-blowing. The dark meat was juicy, flavorful, and seasoned beautifully, while the white meat was dry and disappointing. I would never order the white meat again, but I would absolutely come back for the dark meat! If you're trying to decide which sides to get, definitely go with the *coleslaw and baked beans. Both were delicious and worth ordering! Service: The service wasn't the warmest or most welcoming, but the staff wasn't rude either. Since it was my first time visiting, I would have appreciated a little more guidance and information from the server about the menu and what they recommend. Atmosphere: A small, cozy, homey restaurant attached to the Peachtree Mall. It has a casual, comfortable feel. Final Verdict: ORDER THE DARK MEAT! If they can keep that same flavor and juiciness consistent across the menu, this place would be 5 stars from me all day. Just skip the white meat for now and make sure to get the coleslaw and baked beans on the side!
