We sprayed some basic Spectricide on the ant hill and called the exterminator. Our usual company, Dixie Exterminating, couldn't get us in for a couple of weeks, but they recommended D&D. Jarrett used to work for them and recently opened his own shop. Their recommendation was good enough for me. I called Jarrett on Friday afternoon, and he came out on a Saturday afternoon. He showed up exactly when he said he would, did an inspection, and said our Spectricide had done the trick. He also found a fire ant mound and told me to spray that along with the perimeter of the house. And then he didn't charge me a thing! He came out on a Saturday afternoon, less than 24 hours after I called, explained the problem and why it happened (queens and workers and cold nights and rain and whatnot), told me to keep an eye on it and see if she shavings reappeared... and then not only didn't try to sell me on some big plan or something I didn't need, but didn't even charge me a nickel.
