Just a shorty: I love this theatre ... Mainly because of the comfy recliner seats they have. OMG, every time, I almost fall asleep; which could be a bad or a good thing. Not sure, ha, ha. Anyways, this theatre is great when in the area. Lots of parking, the popcorn is always cooked to perfection, & it is always very clean (my favorite). I came here on Valentine's Day to watch Deadpool & it was crazy packed but because of assigned spacious seats, we enjoyed every moment of it! The popcorn was cooked to perfection and fresh. I had no complaints. Also, if you are hungry before or after the movie, there are a ton of restaurants in walking distance for you to choose from. I may never go to another movie theater again! This theater blew me away in terms of experience. Snacks have become much more gourmet these days. Hummus and pretzels, fresh fruit, Godiva chocolate! What really got me was the ICEEs here. No longer dispensed behind the concession stand it's self serve! So you can bet I got my ICEE groove on while I was here. I had to run out during the previews to refill and a third one when I left. The seats...THE SEATS!!! All built in electric recliners!!!!! It's like being in your own home theater but x10. Tables for each seat as well to hold your drink and snacks. You can reserve seats as well so you pick what row you want to be in. No more worrying about showing up early! This experience has most likely ruined me. I won't be able to go to regular theaters now. LOL Seriously check it out! read more

A few years ago, this theater SUCKED. I would come here occasionally for their $6 Tuesday deal, but only if their movie times were better than that of Bow Tie Cinemas in Reston Town Center (they have the same deal on Tuesdays). It would absolutely baffle me how this theater managed to stay open--it was always empty, just kind of ugly and sketchy looking, and chairs were outdated by a decade or so and uncomfortable. Since this theater has changed management to AMC, everything has changed. Of course I have to mention the fully reclining seats--they are so comfortable. Now paying $11 for a movie ticket seems kind of worth it for the luxurious movie viewing experience. Good job AMC! read more

this is for the NEW AMC theater - it is no longer Pheonix Well, I've lived here my entire life...danced at the Worldgate dance studio for a couple of years so I know this shopping center extremely well. And for as long as I've known it, the theater at Worldgate was a complete joke. It was always outdated and you basically went there as a last minute thing. They recently did a remodel and its absolutely stunning. I had to review it after seeing Catching Fire two days ago! You walk in and its the same ugly green and cream color scheme interior, but then you get to the movie theater and it's like bam! Completely new world and life. It was done beautifully and perfectly! The new space age soda machines are a fantastic addition and installing a little mini bar was very innovative. Then you get inside of the theater and are blown away by the layout. The seats are spaced very far apart from each other, so originally I thought it was so people were able to enter and exit the aisles without people having to readjust to let them through. We got to our seat, which was a COUCH FOR TWO! and had little tables with cupholders which is genius. Then we figured out that you can put the seats back to lay down!!! Complete with footholders! I have never been more comfortable while watching a movie in the theater, all I needed was a blanket and maybe a small pillow and my life would have been made. The only complaint I could possibly have about that is it makes it 10x easier to fall asleep during the movie, which is a huge pet peeve of mine when other people do....but that's not an actual complaint. Bravo AMC Worldgate! The recent renovation has made a world of difference with this movie theater. Along with many of the other AMC's across the area, they now have the amazing recliner seats. I've seen several movies here recently and am rather sure that my quiet gem of a movie theater is becoming more popular by the day! I can't blame anyone though! There is a large selection of snack and drink options including the typical movie food & candy, pretzel bites, healthier options like pretzels and hummus or bags of apples, Icees, the modern soda machines where you can mix flavors, and so much more. For the 21 & up crowd, there is a fully stocked bar with lots of adult beverage options as well! Being that it's still a pretty small venue, it is easy and super convenient to pop out to grab a drink or use the restroom if needed in no time. Last thing I will say is that the prices are better at this theater than many of the other venues in the area. Thank you AMC Worldgate for letting us enjoy movies and save a few $$$! read more

Yes. This theater has renovated and looks much nicer now! They have a little mini bar when you walk in that serves liquor, wine, and beer which you can also take into the movie theater! They have those really nice coke stations that have a million different flavors and sodas for you. Also, they have reclining seats! Definitely a much more comfortable experience with your feet up! Works great for people like me who get fidgety after a sitting for a while or have bad knees! Would definitely recommend if you're in the area to watch a movie here. read more

WOW this is the first movie theatre I've been to in years where I was actually excited to be there to see a movie. I grew up in Herndon/Reston and after living in baltimore for a few years my mom just moved back into the area. We pre-ordered tickets for Catching Fire for a 12:30 movie. Got to the theatre earlier than expected and noticed they had a showing that started at 11:45. When we received our tickets we asked the employee if we could switch showtimes, no problem! You also get to PICK where you sit in the theater!? GREAT concession stand with large bags of candy and those new Coke machines that let you choose flavors and mix together different types of soda. On top of all that the seats are AMAZING. Wide aisles that are well lit and it's basically like you are sitting in a love seat. The middle arm rest lifts up but you definitely have more room in between you and the person siting next to you. Food trays are attached to the seats are very stable and have a cup holder that actually fits the gigantic cups that they give you. The seats even recline!!! What?! I was seriously impressed and will definitely go back. They are also constructing a bar area next to the concessions, beer + movie = win. read more

It had been awhile since we had been here since going to the movies isn't necessarily in the budget (you known, since a single ticket is 10-12 bucks). However, when we found out our beloved Worldgate had been bought by AMC, we were a bit excited as we had accumulated quite a few gift cards there. First trip, we were thrown off by the assigned seating, particularly because when we walked into the theater, no one was in their assigned seat. Meaning, someone was in our seats and we ended up in someone else's seats (and were approached by said people about why we were in their seats). Pros: The remodeling of this place. The seats are plush and significantly more comfortable than your run of the mill theater seats. They are motorized and that took some getting used to (and I kept hitting the buttons with my elbow and moving my seat during the movie). The "food court" was a definite upgrade. And I am all about the self-serve ICEE and soda machines. You actually have a chance of getting more for your money when you get to actually refill your cup instead of paying $5 for one cup. Cons: During our second visit here, the assigned seating was again an issue and we ended up with one seat that the entire motor was dead, so there was no way of adjusting the seat at all. read more

Haven't been here since highschool a couple years ago! But now that they renovated the place, I'll be here more often. Love the reserved seating, especially the reclining leather seats that you can relax on! Now I don't have to go to AMC Courthouse to be comfortable ;) They even have trays for you that are connected to your seat to put your drink and food on, which is awesome. The rooms are smaller than other theatres around the area but that's not a problem when its reserved. There's a minibar also near the concessions. Aisles, bathroom and overall place was kept clean. If you go to the movies alot, pay the $12 and get an AMC stub card. You get free food and tickets! Great way to rack up points. Just remember to buy early to reserve your seats here, relax and enjoy! read more

I have went to this movie theatre twice.. Today was my second time and I will be going back, soon! The first time I went was 9 months ago, and you could tell it was older theatre but still decent. Today, I went and saw they remodeled!!! Nice big comfy seats, a lot of leg room, and nice display outside each theatre! They also have tables to hold your popcorn and drink! There are only like 10-12 rows in the theatre and like 10 -12 seats in each row (very small ---makes you feel like you are in your own personal theatre). One thing I do not like is it is assigned seating, but the rows are real easily marked and you can see where to sit. Also a lot of theaters now have bars, but this one does not---not yet. I saw a bar area coming tho and when it does, I'll give them a 5! Going back really soon! read more

What an amazing movie theater, hidden in the World Gate Center! It has the most amazing seats - Lazy Boys with a small side table! So comfortable and we love to come here! Prices are the same as most theaters.... $13 per ticket for regular screenings and $15 for 3-D screenings. They also offer senior and student discounts. If you have the membership, you get $2 off on Tuesdays. The theater has a small bar in the foyer which is nice. And the entire place is super clean and well maintained. Please keep it like this and we will always be back! This is my new favorite theater right now. read more

Great reclining seats with a pop out foot rest. Nice tray for goodies, though the large cups do not fit into the cup older well. Food has improved significantly, though the Alamo Theater's food is tough to beat. The new unattended stations will give you info on movies, times and do your tickets so that you do not have to wait in long ticket lines. The location is surrounded by restaurants of all sorts. Parking is ok, on occasion, the lot is full and requires some patience to find a spot, but usually there are a good number of places to park. The selection of movies is typical, the show times are generous. the staff is courteous and smiles which makes a world of difference. I will visit AMC Worldgate 9 again and often. read more

I've been here once and enjoyed myself. Just as I mentioned in reviews for other AMC theaters, the seats are assigned and do recline. This theater is located within a mall, so you have to park in a mall parking garage. Since I'm use to attending theaters with private lots, I find it a bit cumbersome to navigate through a mall garage. I don't particularly care for malls either, so that is also fairly off-putting for me. Food tray holders are attached to the seats. I found that a bit unnecessary. I really don't enjoy something hovering over my lap as I watch a movie. My purse and coat rarely stay on my lap, so I'm not sure I care to have my food in my face the entire movie. I came during a workday and it wasn't crowded. I love AMC, and I think if you live close to this theater you may enjoy it. But I would not make an appoint to travel here. read more

AMC Worldgate 9 is a fabulous boutique movie theater where you can reserve your seats at the kiosk or in person at the ticket counter. In the concession common space, respect to find a mini bar to obtain beer on tap as well as the regular movie goodies and more. Once inside a theatre room, we found plenty of walkway space in the rows to find your seats and a 'KISS method' simple and jazzy methodology on finding your seats: The aisle number is on the floor, while your seat number is on the modern tray attached to your seat. You feel like you are in a modern home theater. The leather seats are oversized, comfortable, and have power-operated recline buttons. At the touch of the button, you can lean back beyond a 45 degree angle' and put your feet up for a stargazing-level experience. And unless you are a super tall individual, you have plenty of room to stretch out without disturbing neighbors if they need to get up. There is plenty of free parking above ground and in the garage which is wonderful. In the contemporary shopping area, there is a Starbucks, Marriott Hotel, and other fast eats just in case you want to grab something before a show. Two thumbs way up. read more

Clean, love the large recliner seats. The theatre is not big but large enough. We love not a big crowd when we are going to the movies. The parking is okay... you typically have to park in the garage and take the elevator up. The main level parking is usually full. I loved the reserved seating considering we caught a movie on opening day. There was no reason to have to rush and find seats or arrive at the theater to scope out the place trying to find two decent seats that are in good view and are side by side. If someone is in your seat just explain to them that those are your reserved seats....duh?! We were in and out of the concession stand in no time. It was a bit expensive, but what do you expect at the movies? Our large popcorn and large drinks were free refills (and the drinks are self serve) so that was a great option. There is also a mini bar so that you can buy alcohol! (Yay!) All in all, it was a cool theater (literally cool..I was about to freeze lol), but I'll definitely return. They have the best reclining seats and ill try to stay awake for the movie the next time. Lol read more

What can I say that hasn't been said? The parking here is was easy enough. Park, go up the escalator and you are in the theater (I went at an off time, so I can only assume it would get crowded). The loveseat seating is incredibly comfortable, and the movie experience is all around amazing. I would definitely go back. read more

When I first saw the ratings and what AMC had listed for this theater, I was a little nervous. But was I in for a shock! My fiancée rarely go to movies because we prefer the comfort of our recliners at home as well as the convenience to eat food and enjoy an adult beverage. I can honestly tell you that this theatre gave almost all the comforts of home right there in Herndon. Not only did we not have to park above ground where it was raining, but we had the option to purchase cocktails/beer/wine and other concessions that you find at a theatre. From the red leather recliner, to our own personal tables that reach around from the side of the chairs, we felt comfortable and were able to enjoy the movie. Even when patrons needed to get by, there was ample room for them to pass without lowering our legs; this is a huge plus as there is nothing more annoying than the "kind of lifting legs" to let people into the row. The staff was VERY friendly and we will return. One addition I would make is to an additional bartender on Friday nights, the drink service was a bit slow, but since we were able to reserve our seats online, I wasn't worried about having to get in the room early to choose our seats. We are going back this evening and this is more than we have gone in a year! read more

Years ago I took my oldest son to see Rango at the Worldgate Theater. I remember thinking how much of a dump the theater was. Well, AMC has done a great job changing that!! First and foremost are the leather recliners in the theaters. Very roomy, each with one arm tray and fully reclining. Heaven, pure heaven! Warning, very conducive to falling asleep. Other plusses: - plenty of parking in the parking garage - they have one of those soda machines where you can pick the soda and different fruit flavors - icee machine - free refills for soda and icee One note, the theaters are reserved seating so for popular movies or larger parties, I suggest booking your seats online. read more

By all accounts, this theater should be nice. Yes, it has recliners and yes, it's run by AMC. However, it is run by a clueless staff that is either completely idiotic or just rude. The ticket taker didn't know what theater our movie was in. Then when we asked again, she sent us to the wrong one that was already filled with people and then tried to pretend we were just really late, not 15 minutes early. The concession stand was out of certain foods, popcorn was stale and they even ran out of Coca Cola - their main sponsor! The theater was dirty and covered in the previous person's popcorn. The bathroom had no soap or paper towels. And the theater was boiling hot like a sauna. The bartender didn't even know how to make any of the cocktails on their own list and they were out of all but 2 of the wines. When I brought any of this up to Management, I got yelled at and instead of being given an apology with "We'll try better and here are some passes to make up for it", was pretty much told everyone else didn't notice so how you felt doesn't really matter. Save your money and go to another theater. It may not have a tray table but at least some teenager won't scream in your face about it. read more

This is my favorite theater, I only wish it was closer to where we live. The fully reclining leather seats are great!. I love the fact that I can purchase tickets for my wife and I in advance & reserve the seats of our choice. We often come here for date night and eat at the Matsutake Japanese Steak House, there sushi and hibachi are excellent. After enjoying a great dinner we walk next-door to the movie theater. It is very clean and The staff are friendly and professional. All this sets the perfect stage for hopefully a very enjoyable movie! The staff here is (mostly) polite. I only had trouble with one employee. He was being unreasonably unfair. Thus the four stars. They have a great deal that is available EVERYDAY. If you go for a movie that plays before 11AM (maybe 10am), the ticket is $7 for everyone. I go with my sisters all the time for this deal. THE CHAIRS. Thick and cushiony. They recline. Not just a little; you can recline it to the point where you are almost horizontal. There is actually a small table that you can spin out to put your food on. I could sit in those chairs for HOURS. Also, lots of room between the aisles, and I've never struggled to see over someone's head. (And I'm 5'1"). You can even push every other armrest up. I went to this location to take myself on a movie date and I am more than disappointed. This was by far the most filthy AMC theater I've ever been to. i wanted to place an order or hot food that they had on their menu only to be told their machine for cooking food was broken. Then I decided to go with something simple, POPCORN. The popcorn was COLD! So I figured this couldn't get any worse and went to sit in my seat with my snack. Walking into the screening room for my movie, they had not taken the trash out the tradh was OVER FLOWING from the start of the movie and was not addressed at the end of the movie. I went to see Black Panther so for over 2 hours they had not addressed the trash situation. The boxed candy I ordered was so freaking stale! I still decided to stay to enjoy the movie. Screen room #4 is HORRIBLE! There were parts of the movie where the scenes are dark and the VERY POOR QUALITY of that screen play you literally were making out silhouette movements of the actor. I hated I spent my money going to that location and now have to spend movie again to hopefully have a better experience to rewatch this movie. This location has ruined it for me and is was definitely not worth my $18.48 this was a $1 movie experience in comparison to the value. read more

I come here almost every Tuesday to get dat dere amazing tickets deals, seats are very comfy , food is not incredible but it's normal for movie teather food I only had a small problem here as once time the system got crazy and printed me tickets for Shazam and I bought tickets for other movie but the staff helped with that , but Inside another guy had my same seating number but he was cool and just changed his seat. I love amc but this location is no good. I used to love it because they have the best seats but it's just gross now. Whoever was at the concession was unnecessarily rude, obviously irritated with me just because I asked her to scan my stubs membership. Then because she could not scan it right she just snatched my phone out of my hand to do it. It's Covid... I don't want you grabbing my phone out my hand. All while still being in the worst mood ever. Why do people like this work in customer service? The movie Theater is located right in the World Trade Center those clothes to work out spots, food spots, and even office locations like Kinko's. It's actually located inside, the entrance that is, which is different and interesting, and helps to protect you from the cold during those cold VA days. Is on the side of the Torah and Herndon which I tend to look at it as more ghetto since there are some low income spots around there and it gets a little creepy especially towards night, but the Worldgate center still pretty classy and acceptable if you want to go see a movie. read more

First off, I love the reserved seating and the reclining chairs. When I was in college I was all about cheaper movies but now that I'm older I really love the ability to order our tickets in advance and know we have a good comfortable seat to go to when we get there. It takes away a lot of the stress at the movies (that I see on people trying to order tickets at the window when we get there!) This is the first AMC reclining theater I've been to that has the trays and I'm not quite sure I like them. I'd also like to have somewhere to put my purse when we go so I don't have to wedge it between the seats. The popcorn is okay, it's standard AMC popcorn which doesn't have a lot of flavor to it. However we just add more butter and salt and get a side of nacho cheese to eat it with. The service has been great so far from beginning to end, and they move through concession lines fairly quickly. The new menu lineups are great if you're willing to splurge. UPDATE: I have to downgrade my review of this location. After they messed up our Age of Ultron tickets we found the location and company to be extremely unhelpful. They changed our tickets over to 3D rather than 2D, and I can't watch 3D movies since they make me sick. It's extremely hard to get in touch with anyone to make this experience better. This location was okay - until you actually need some help. read more

It's helpful because they have a computer screen that shows you what seats are still left when you buy your tickets, in case you don't want to end up sitting in the very front if that's all they have left. I've been coming here from time to time since I was a kid, and it's improved vastly! Worldgate has some awesome renovations courtesy of AMC revamping nationally. They also stand a cut above even other AMCs in the area due to their great service from ticket box office to concessions. Staff is friendly, helpful, and never too busy to stop and chat and make your experience feel friendly and special. I will say food and drink are still ridiculously priced and ridiculously portioned, but at least you still control the butter flavor dispenser! The bathrooms and lobby area are clean and cushy and there are a bunch of easy to walk to restaurants in the immediate shopping center that make this the perfect movie date locale. Bonus: awesome arcade games. The cushy chairs and stadium seating make for an exceptional viewing experience regardless of where you sit...but now a days you can even reserve your seat, so again, it's clear that superior entertainment and tailored service is the cornerstone for AMC, and Worldgate upholds this business culture. Also, who doesn't love a bar that makes a nice stiff drink and delivers it to you during previews?! read more
