The reclining seats are everything, and although expensive, the food and snack options are of good quality. I wish they had more than one bathroom option. The space is nice and the theatre rooms are clean. The main area can get pretty dirty sometimes. overall, I frequent this spot and highly recommend. read more

I used work here many years ago when it was a loews back in the day. Footprint of theaters are still the same but they have definitely updated concession stands, ticket counter and they even added a little bar and lounge area. Its a bit tight in the front i think especially when its a busier day. The reclining seats are awesome. They are a bit smaller compared to other theaters but if ur super big then i see it would be a problem. The screen is also small . The environment is cozy though. We usually go to laurel for the reclining seats, but since this place opened might come here more often because it is much more closer and less crowded compared to the majestic. Bathroom was modern and clean. Customer service was ok. I would expect The customer service to be much better though since it just reopened. I definitely would still come back a few more times .. read more

Very comfortable. I love the reclining chairs. The food is a bit overpriced just like most movie theaters. The time to get a ticket to sitting down usually takes a few minutes. read more

Beautiful theater with outdated Closed Caption devices! Who want to hold a viewer for the entire movie! Obviously no one Is thinking of the hearing impaired! There is update technology in the form of eyeglasses where the closed caption is displayed within the eye ware! Secure today without delay!!! read more

My husband and I agreed to take a chance on this AMC Wheaton Mall 9 theater in Wheaton Maryland less than 24 hours ago. Our movie of choice that we selected to see at this theater was Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (which turned out to be a brilliant movie). Anyhow, our wait to get the tickets for the film (which was a 4p.m. showing) was pretty brief as was our wait for getting a fountain drink and mozzarella sticks. Obviously, I can only speak for our visit yet the customer service was also up to par. read more

They need more employees. Only one person was selling tickets AND checking everyone in. Wish they had more bathrooms. LOVED the seats!

Can't begin to tell you what an unfriendly experience I had at my first visit yesterday. For starters the price for a senior ticket was $10.50. That's $2.50 more than I pay at the nice indie theatre in downtown Bethesda! Just because your rent is too high (at least two previous theatres at this location failed), hosing your customers is no way to build loyalty. AMC Corporate, do you even have a clue about neighborhood demographics? And why don't you even have listings in the Washington Post Weekend section like real theatres, including other AMCs, do weekly? And regarding pricing, unlike most theatres, they only offer two sizes of popcorn and the smaller is $7.50. Sheesh. It's popcorn, not a craft beer. Last, the AMC App sucks! Wish I could be pleased with this recent neighborhood addition, but it clearly needs re-thinking. read more

Let's call this "a good/very good option for Silver Spring." We went last night to Rogue One and had a good time. Preface: we've lived about 1.5 miles from the Regal Cinemas in downtown Silver Spring for the last 13 years, and have really enjoyed it. It can be a zoo sometimes, but parking has been free and nearby. Having a range of viewing options, including IMAX, has been awesome. BUT... If you want to go to a premier and not have to wait in a long line (even if you have tickets), it can be rough. And, the seating is traditional cinema seating. Wheaton Mall 9 might be an alternate/antidote. Bottom line: we found the theater extremely clean and accessible. We parked without trouble in the row closest to the door. I'd bought our tickets online and a person at the end of the ticket line scanned my phone and eight of us just walked in. We bought generously-sized beers at the bar from one staff member--which we were able to take into the theater--while another made mixed drinks for someone else. I found the reclining seats nice and large (not sure how they could be "too large"). It felt odd, five minutes before the movie started, to see empty seats for the Rogue One opening, but that was because everyone had reserved seats; every seat eventually was full. The sound was very good. My sole uncertainty is about the small screen size. Normally, I'd never think of sitting close to a screen, but we were six rows back and I wish we'd been three rows closer. We saw the 2D version, and I don't know if any of the theater's screens are any larger (I don't see any IMAX options, to be sure). So, again, this is a good or very good option for our area. If you want to reserve your seat, recline, have a beer/drink while you watch, and don't want to have to drive to ArcLight (or pay those prices), this is a good option. Just sit close. read more

So glad this theatre is in the area. The seats are not as big as the reclining chairs in the AMC at Court House, but unlike Court House you can actually put the arm rest up so you can cuddle with your boo. It would be slightly better if they could have more than one person working concessions for busy times. Nice options though. read more

This theatre is pretty much the same theatre it was before, just with a major face lift. It's very clean, the seats are awesome and the variety of food is great and now with a bar. I just have 2 things that kept it from 5 stars. 1 the staff are a bunch of kids who don't give you that warm welcome. And 2, all the screens are small, just like they used to be before the renovation... They don't have that 1 big screen room for the hot movies. But besides that, I enjoy it. Recline and enjoy. read more

Today when I was at AMC movie theater i was in the Front row and I saw a rat and there was popcorn on my seat and the Service there were very rude and not helpful. Also The Slurpee machine were not working and there was no butter for the popcorn. The Movie was not loud enough and the seats were not working and the screen was not that big. They also ran out of candy there was no straws and they kicked me out because I had a large group of people it was 8 they didn't give us a refund and the bathrooms were not clean and there was trash everywhere . Also when the workers were kicking us out kept on yelling at us and rolled there eyes I was handling it calmly but all I was trying to do was get refund but they kept on refusing. And they started yelling at my friends, my visit there was very unpleasant and I didn't have a great time I suggest that you go to a different movie movie theater read more

This AMC theater is the closest to me which is convenient but the parking lot is small. The theater at times can be a mess, both the lobby and bathrooms. There have been times where there would only be one employee up front and I would have to wait for them to finish with customers bc the one employee has to scan A List members tickets to go in as well. The screens are smaller than Arc Light or AMC Tyson. I would suggest getting seats closer to the front. If you sit in the last row, it feels like your watching a movie on someone's big screen tv. The Wheaton AMC is ok but believe me when AMC Rio finishes their renovation, I more then likely will be heading their to watch movies. read more

The bathrooms were filthy. No excuse for that. The screen was on the small side by today's standards. I didn't try the concessions. Otherwise, glad to have a nearby theater with reclining seats, which I appreciate. read more

My husband and I came to watch a movie. We noticed that our seats were covered in popcorn and butter and that our beverage compartment was sticky with spilled soda. We tried to get a person to help us clean up the mess. No one helped, so we literally got napkins and some water to clean our own chairs... We filed a complaint to the Wheaton manager and his response was rude and defensive. We just moved to the area and this theater can count on not getting our business. read more

I'm excited this movie theater opened up again - its all new inside and has some decent food options. They even have a bar now at the theater - hasn't technically opened yet, but will be soon. They have easy options for purchasing tickets on the self service machines, as well as a real person behind the desk. Parking outside is close, though I could see it getting full pretty fast if there were a lot of people in attendance at the same time. They also offer a new rewards program, with a free and cost option that could be useful to those who go to the movies a lot. I would definitely use this theater a lot if I weren't just moving away from Wheaton (bad timing). I also like the fact that its technically a part of the mall, but also confined enough from the rest of the mall to not get too crowded - just makes it closer to food and other entertainment options! The seats are the nice plush oversized ones too that recline. The only thing better would be to have them serve you at the seat, but besides that you really can't ask for more. read more

I was really excited to know that this location opened. We had bought our tickets on fandango in order to get them in advance. When we arrived it seemed clear that they were not ready to open just yet. They need to hire more staff! The entrance is somewhat small so we went straight to the person checking tickets. He informed us to wait in line but forgot to mention we could go to the Electronic kiosk and get our tickets. So after waiting almost 10 minutes in line we kind of figured it out on our own. When we had our tickets to actually get checked in, the guy was nowhere to be found. We could've honestly just walked in, free of charge. The people at the snack bar were pretty efficient. They have a bar area which is not yet open but will soon have alcoholic beverages. I used to come to this location when I was a teenager. It slowed down over the years and then got cut in half. It just turned into a dump. I must say the upgrade is fantastic. I just hope the staff can get it together. Hopefully in the future they can earn more than three stars. read more

The facilities are new and the staff is nice. However, the place was filthy. I walked in the front door and immediately everywhere you look there was popcorn on the floor. Once I bought my ticket I went to use the restroom. There were napkins all over the floor and one of the toilets was stopped up. Once I got to our theater, it was clear they hadn't cleaned the theater between showings. There was more trash and popcorn all over the floor. In our row there was a soda spilled right by our seat. I couldn't sit in the seat without putting my shoes in the spilled soda. But not before I had to wipe all the food crumbs and popcorn off my seat. THIS PLACE IS FILTHY!!! This place will be a total shit hole within a year just like the last theatre to occupy this space. Do better!! read more

I love what they've done to the theater and the reclining chairs are super cool! It was kind of weird having to pick my seats but I guess that's the thing now a days. The lady at the concession stand was really nice and they give you jalapenos for your nachos unlike other places that charge extra!!! Clearly people who are complaining that its expensive have never been to the Rio...LOL read more

This theatre is fairly new. Went to see a movie Sunday Night. First time in an AMC theatre. Purchased tickets at the kiosk. I really dislike AMC's assigned seating. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? Nice that they had a bar aside from the snack counter. Inside of the theatre halls pretty much looks the same as the previous company had them (Loews and Sony as well as that failed theatre / live event company that came through last) theatre was fairly clean. Bathroom was as well. The actual theatre where we watched the film was a decent size. The seats recline. Spacious. Like I said, don't like the assigned seating one bit. I'd come again to watch a a film. Would have to check and see what seating is available if going with multiple people. Otherwise, you are sitting by yourself away from your group. read more

I must say I'm really impressed with the quality of this place. Everything about this place is amazing. My first movie is "the accountant" and movie screen, seating and sound system were really great. I think everyone should check it out. It's a great news for redevelopment of wheaton. Great job AMC!!! read more

Horrible horrible customer service! Especially from the manager that was there the night we were. Her name is Denise and she was hostile and aggressive toward us when there was a mix up with our tickets. read more

If I have a negative star I would have giving it to this theatre... Worst place ever, so we arrived early with our kids to see fast8, food in our hand and our show isn't start yet. So we find a place to sit. We found one next to the bar full of empty seat with table. So we sat down. Here came the bar guy saying to us while other people have kids is in the other table. Say that we have to leave cause the kids isn't over 21. I look around and ask why aren't other people with m kids being ask this. On top of that our theatre is empty but we can't come in they said it not clean yet. By that time it 6:46pm movie start 7. Not a soul came to clean. I Mean a theatre is a family place last I check not a bar. And you have no place for your customer to sit and what for show time? Then why there table and chair for. I could understand if the bar is busy and you need the table but it was empty. I belive just cause we are asian read more

There needs to be a child safety lock or something on those seats. The constant noise was unbearable.

I love this place and it's unquestionably my first choice among the local movie theater options. Yes, it's expensive, but so is going to almost any first-run theater, and I feel the amenities here justify the cost. The reclining seats are huge and comfortable, with ample space for walking in and out. The reserved seating system works great, it's easy to find your row and seat number even after the lights have gone down, and you can usually have your pick of location by purchasing tickets just 24 hours or so in advance (assuming it isn't opening night of something huge). Parking is free and as convenient as it gets. The onsite bar is pricey -- would you honestly expect that it wouldn't be? -- but terrifically convenient for my husband. For the less booze-soaked among us, the Coke Freestyle machines are a nice touch. I hope this theater sticks around in its current incarnation for a long time! read more
