I don't usually come to this theater because it is not as convenient location and odd an older theater. However, this has the time I preferred. We went to my first morning movie! It was a 10:40am showing of Oppenheimer, which by the way if you haven't seen it, do it! The place was very clean, the staff wonderful, prices on snacks and beverages weren't as bad as I remembered. This being so close to our home might be our new theatre spot! Great experience! We went to a matinee viewing of Spider Man: no way home. The goal was to be at a show with the lease amount of people as possible. We were successful. There were approximately 7 other people in there while we were there. The lobby was clean and tidy. There were many signs up that indicated "card only and no cash". We were helped at the counter and picked our seats. We came back to change our seats. The same person helped with the switch. We stopped by the concessions for popcorn and snacks. Pretty uneventful just picked up some popcorn and snacks. The theatre was clean and the seats were comfy! This was my first time here so we will definitely Be retuning. read more

My favorite local movie theater. Washington Sq AMC has everything all of the other AMC's have but with cheaper ticket prices! We purchase all of our movie tickets through the Fandango app and we've never had an issue with our seats or tickets. The bathrooms are always clean and stocked with toilet paper and the concession area is always clean as well. They don't have all of the choices as far as popcorn seasonings like they do at the Castleton location, but that doesn't bother me. The seats recline and the aisles are bigger than they used to be, just like the other AMC's. Washington Sq is my go to movie theater! read more

I used to love going to this theater but for the last few months the concession stand always out of items MAINLY hot dogs. So after the 4th time I had tonspeak with the manager and the matter of fact attitude and lack of concern now forces me to go to Castleton. Tho it may be a little ride bit worth it. We came in 2 minutes early to our movie and since we didn't have our IDs they wouldn't let us watch it. They told us to get our IDs and we did. We came back and the doors were locked and no one would let us in. We paid online and we missed our movie. Do not recommend coming here. I will be expecting a refund in full for this. read more

No ice in the soda machines meant warm soda. They left the lights on through the previews. I had to get up twice to ask staff to turn off the lights. Then when the movie was over the ushers turned the lights on the second the credits rolled. Our movie had two after credit scenes that we didn't see because of this. Prices are average in comparison to other theatres in the area. My husband and I go here often, and like to go in the afternoon for cheaper ticket prices. Tickets are available for purchase online, and you get to pick your seats. The seats are comfortable and recline and there is plenty of room. My favorite thing about this theatre is the amount of butter you can put on your own poppcorn and the refiills available if you get the popcorn and drink combo. Really have nothing bad to say about this place, it's always been welcoming and clean, and the bathrooms are taken care of as well. read more

I have never been to this theater before and it's not a bad theater it is pretty clean on the inside and the auditoriums are big. We went to a 7:15 showing and didn't get out until 9:40 and there were no lights in the parking lot. I think this is a big deal, I'm not saying it's the worse part of town but anywhere you go like this you would like to have lights in the parking lot. Other than that I had a great experience and more than likely go again, but probably during the day. read more

My kids wanted me to once AGAIN step out of my comfort zone and go to another movie theater and I'm glad I did before 12 PM the movie cost is only $4.99 per person that's a great deal especially when you have a big family and everyone wants to go to the movies one thing I did not care for was the prices one of my kids wanted a kids snack pack meal which was a popcorn, drink and a small pack of fruit snacks they wanted $7.79 just for that in my opinion that was way to much I will come to this movie theater again but I will not buy anything from the confession stand all in all it was a great trip to a different movie theater. read more

Clean, friendly, love the reclining seats and reserved seating. Pops was fresh. Screen was a good size - bigger than other chains.

I had never been to this theater before, but there was a free screening here so I went. Honestly, I was thinking this theater would be in bad shape because of the area it's in. I walked in and the theater is really nice! It looks like it's almost new. Everything looks great. The staff is sooo kind. The kicker is the seats - roomy, leather(ish) chairs that you can recline! They were comfortable. Y You might have to follow the signs to find the theater. It's east of where you might think it would be located. It took a minute, but I found it around the bend. Now I went to a weekday matinee so I can speak to what the crowd is like at night, but I couldn't have enjoyed my experience more. Kudos to the staff! read more

I love this theater! It is one of the cheapest in Indy, if not the cheapest. It has super comfy recliners in every room, a bar (that is sometimes open), and friendly employees. The popcorn is always up to par. I love the convenience of preordering my tickets online and just scanning it off my phone instead of wasting paper! Plus you get to skip the line! I lived in this side of town for two years and this theater became my go to out of convenience. And now it's my go to because of everything listed here. I deducted one star because the bathrooms are frequently less clean that I would prefer and the parking lot is full of potholes. read more

Nice reclining leather chairs. Good quality picture. Theater was clean including the bathrooms. They now have the machines where you can pick your drink and free refills. Stubs rewards program so you can get free upgrades and gifts. Concession prices are high, but nothing new there. They've jumped on the bandwagon with the fancier food choices. AMC has recently renovated this location with new larger floating screens, upgraded sound systems, and perhaps most importantly, recliner seating. Concession prices are on par with other Indy locations and ticket prices are very reasonable. At the moment tickets here are a little cheaper than other nearby theatres and around $1-$2 cheaper than the other theatres that offer recliners in Indy, though I imagine this will change once the renovations are completed. The new seating is incredibly comfortable leather electric recliners, with an inordinate amount of space between rows you can fully recline if you wish. The upgraded sound system is quite nice too, the auditoriums feature new JBL speakers and offer a bit more bass than the old sound system. Currently Washington Square is not offering reserved seating, I'm sure this will change after they are finished with construction on the other side of the building (right now only half of the theatre is open) but until then you should plan to arrive at least 40 minutes early because there are so few seats in each auditorium. Once they do have reserved seating you should always buy your tickets in advance so you can get the seats you want, if you have an AMC Stubs Premier Card they waive the online ticketing fees so it doesn't even cost more to do so. Overall AMC has done a great job breathing new life into Washington Square 12 with all of the new upgrades this theatre has easily become one of the best options for enjoying a movie in Indianapolis. read more

RECENT RENOVATIONS! Apart from the fact that this location is way east and next to the practically defunct Washington Square, the renovations have been a great improvement to this AMC! They now have the bar in the lobby giving customers the option to imbibe during their movie. The seats are a more comfortable recliner lined up in front of new larger screens with improved sound systems. It's AMC, so the ticket and concession prices are comparable with the AMC brand in this area. The upgrades have contributed to making this a desirable movie viewing venue. read more

We go here as often as we can. We love the big comfy seats that you can control. It's like a lazy boy but on steroids lol. The hot dogs are to die for and the popcorn is always fresh and awesome. We always have a nice time. If I had to say anything bad I guess it would be that the controls fo the chairs are on the inside . Ima really big girl and my thighs rub up against them and make them go crazy. One minute I'm right where I want to be and the next I'm feet in the air and reclining all the way back. Now on the previews it shows that the controls are on top of the arm rest. Oh how I wish that was the Case. The prices are a little high too but they are everywhere. This is my favorite spot to go to when I want to see movies on the big screen. I recently visit here to see the movie Black Panther. This theater has recently been renovated. The improvements are very nice! They have reclining seats which I love and are very handicap accessible. The sound is always great. Also, they are very good at keeping the theater clean from the lobby to the restrooms. The employees are very friendly and welcome you with a smile. The popcorn is always delicious and the nachos are tasty too! This is a very cozy movie theater. I will continue to patronize this establishment. read more

The good news: this movie theater has some great amenities. Given that it's located next to the half-dead Washington Square Mall, you would expect it to be just as shabby, but as a matter of fact it's a very comfortable, fully-modern theater. The auditoriums are equipped with easy-chair style seats with power recliner functions and plenty of leg room. Of course, that means they can't fit as many people into the auditoriums as theaters with more "traditional" flip-down seating, but once you've experienced the movie in the comfort of one of those chairs, you don't particularly care. The screens, while not IMAX-sized, are still bigger than the traditional multiplex postage stamp, and the sound quality was pretty good. The bad news is, in some respects their customer service could use a little work. When I went there to see Doctor Strange tonight, there was a power blip and the movie cut out 15 minutes from the end. A theater employee came into the theater several times to tell us that they were upstairs working on restarting the movie. It was only *an hour later,* once the "First Look" infomercial was mostly over and they were getting ready to run the next showing, that another employee came in to tell the 3 or 4 of us still waiting that they weren't going to be able to restart it after all, and they'd just have to show the next screening of the movie. On the bright side, she was properly apologetic. She explained there had been some mis-communications among staff, or they would have let us know earlier they weren't going to be able to show the rest of the movie. Subsequently, I got my ticket refunded and two complimentary passes good for future movies. And I enjoyed the movie enough while it was still screening. So that's why I'm giving it as many stars as three. I may well change my mind and revise the count upward after seeing other movies there. It is the closest theater to where I live, after all, and I do expect to be visiting it again. But having my first movie experience there end like this was a definite turn-off. read more

This theater is our go-to due to being so close to our home. It is so nice! The chairs all recline, which makes it a comfy visit. The concession stand employees are always nice and patient with me and my kids. There is also a bar, so you can get a beer or other adult beverage if you want. It is a little pricey though. I'm not a Far Eastsider so I don't visit this side of town often. Another app told me I was last here in 2012. A particular movie I wanted to checkout was only playing at 2 theaters in the city, and after reading Yelp reviews, I decided this was the better choice. Apparently, it has been recently renovated like most AMC theaters, and also has the reclining chairs. I went on a Tuesday afternoon, and it wasn't crowded. There was a slow moving line to get tickets as there was only one person at the counter. The guy was friendly and explained the Stubs new $5 Tuesday promotion to us. I went ahead and renewed my membership. Unlike the Castleton location, we didn't have to select our seats at the counter. Perhaps, Castleton has stopped this as well; I haven't been in a month or so. The lobby and theater both looked clean and new. The seats were comfortable; the graphics and sounds were nice. I didn't hit up the concession stand since we were going to dinner afterwards. This is a nice theater although the surrounding mall appeared a little empty and rundown coming in from the back entrance. read more

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had in a movie theater in my entire 27 Years of my life. Me and my friend came to this establishment to watch the new nun movie which is a rated R movie we went at 8 o'clock at night on a Saturday we got popcorn and drinks the whole 9 yards. After arriving to the movies and getting into our seats we realize that there were a bunch of 12, 13 and 14-year-old also attending the movie which we really didn't think much of. After the movie started all of the kids started running around in the movie theater switching spots with each other and talking and giggling and being loud! after I complained three times as well as multiple other families complaint the only thing that they did was send a security officer in there to watch. as the security officer stood in there some of the kids were still talking and no one did anything about it. the kids also got smart with me when I politely asked them to talk a little lower right next to me. None of these kids had any adult supervision whatsoever. We wasted our entire night trying to watch this movie and I went out of my way to go to this specific theatre I've been going to since I was little. I think it was absolutely ridiculous that even 30 minutes after the movie started the kids were still talking like I said before this is a rated R movie so no one was sent out no one even spoke to the kids needless to say I will never be back ever in my life I would rather drive 20 miles out of my way to go to the one in Greenwood and I suggest you do the same! I asked for a refund and never even got an apology just rude customer service as well. read more

Went for $5 Tuesday's and it was amazing. Located on the side of Washington Square Mall it has plenty of parking. $5 movie tickets, $5 popcorn and unlimited refills on your drinks. The theaters have really nice chairs that move and recline out, remind me of lazy boys. I'm from the west side and this was my first time going to a movie theater out east. So sketched out at first hence why I haven't tried one in the two years living out here due to a scare of bed bugs or something crazy, not the case. The place was super clean with really friendly staff. The only bummer is the assigned seating. Thankfully I got two together so my daughter and I would be next to each other. Once in there I had to kick a lady out of my seat, she was not happy. They have the letter of the row on the carpet outside the aisle and the seat numbers on the front of them lit up. Overall I was amazed and pleased with this location and will be returning next Tuesday for another watch. read more

I went here on Tuesday to watch Beauty and the Beast at 9:45. When we arrived they had closed the theater for cleaning (which was fine) however there was throw up covered with paper towels outside our theater. We thought maybe it just happened and the person cleaning the theater will clean it up. WRONG. So we had to dodge throw up entering. Then when we were leaving after the 2 hour long movie and the attendant was standing there the throw up was still there. I am pretty sure this is a major health violation. What an amazing theatre! The management team was kind and professional. The crew members were very fast, polite, and fun to interact with. The theatre is beautiful. You can tell they really try and keep it in good condition. Every time I go in there I see maintenance working on something, the staff is always cleaning and or talking to the guest.
