My husband & I went on a fantastic movie date to see the Michael Jackson movie! It's an old classic movie theater with a modernized touch from renovations and upgrades over the years. We were seated in Auditorium 5! The seats were very comfortable and spacious. What we didn't like was how chaotic it was to order Food & Beverages. There were no Straw nor napkin dispensers and trash was spread all over the floor and counters. It certainly wasn't as clean as most AMC theaters we've been to, but that may have been due to a very busy day. The Service was rather slow despite our A-List Membership. The staff remained very friendly and welcoming throughout the whole experience. I would've given 5* If the cleanliness had not been an issue. read more

Clean and updated. Parking is plentiful and free and their snack pricing is not bad, at all...compared to other theaters. I was surprised. Pleasantly. Family and I saw Wicked For Good and it was amazing. I like the changes the theater has made, I have not watched a film at the Esquire in over 20 years. To date that moment, the ticket counter was not inside like it is now, I remember standing in the cold to watch movies around this time of year. That change was noticed immediately. The entire team was friendly and super helpful. Nyla went above and beyond in fact, I noticed she assisted a woman with a cane inside the theater. Customer service was impeccable! She smiled and it felt like she wanted to be at work, which is something I do not always experience. The concession line moved quickly and I witnessed everyone saying hello and acknowledging customers. When walking past people who work at the theater they said hello and smiled, AMC Esquire is doing something well with customer service. read more

I visited the Esquire for the first time to see Wicked. We bought our seats day of, and it was a super simple process. The line for snacks was long but moved quickly. Popcorn was good and love the soda machines! They're the fancy ones where you can pick your sodas and add flavoring in. Always a plus in my book! The theater itself was nice, also clean. Always love reclining seats to get comfy- especially for a long movie. Staff was helpful. The women's bathroom is super narrow and can be quite the crowded spot, not a lot of room to move around. Parking can also be confusing if it's your first time going. Make sure you know to park in the back! read more

Went here last night to see Freakier Friday. The concession stand had quick service to keep the line moving. Employees were all friendly. The popcorn had that good buttery smell. cinnamon donuts were a treat. The freestyle cola machines are so nice and have so many options. The theater was big, seats comfortable, sound was good. Feels like consistently lists the wrong times both on Google and the amc website? For example, I see a movie is playing at 7. I don't prebuy tickets because I hate that (I also hate that seats have to be picked? I sit based on VIBES, and I can't get that til I'm in the auditorium). If I'm running slightly late, which isn't a big deal because AMC plays 20 mins of trailers, but when I arrive I see the showing actually started at 6:30, even tho I checked times on Google that day and saw 7, then I'm 38 min late and the screening is definitely into the movie and not worth coming in late. The next showtime isn't listed until a full hour and a half later. I leave without buying a ticket and choose to patronize other theaters. I know theaters are struggling, but it would vastly help not to misinform audiences. This has happened at least twice at this location. read more

I love coming to this theater. I really hate how AMC Theatres are starting to close around me. This one is a classic and easy to get around. The only thing I wish is that they allowed folks to come in from the back instead of having to walk all the way to the front. I would only recommend this location if you have no other theater option or can't find a showing last minute. About 10 years ago, this spot was solid. Now it's just so understaffed and dirty. I hadn't been to the esquire in years, and yes, it has been updated. I'm not sure how long ago. But the place was just filthy. It was trashed. They did not have enough help which could've prevented it. It was just a mess and I didn't feel like I should touch anything. Even the banister coming down the stairs with sticky, who knows the last time it had been cleaned. Bathrooms dirty, the floors are trashed, The butter and fountain soda stations were trashed and they were out of butter. Their staff provided good customer service, but there were just not enough staff to manage the crowd and maintain the front of the theater at the same time. They had three ticket kiosks however, two of them were not working. For whatever reason they have a security guard and he's the one who scanned my ticket. I will not be back to this theater anytime soon. read more

This is the first time that we have ever been to the AMC Esquire 7 movie theater. They have a large parking lot in back. When you buy your tickets, you have to choose a seat. Since we went during the day during the week, we chose our seats but were able to sit anywhere in the theater because there were only five people there. They have the luxury seats and wide aisles. The seats are like laz-y-boys. Be careful!! If it's a boring movie, you could actually fall asleep. The only thing we did not like were the prices for the refreshments. They were either outrageous or we were charged the wrong amount. Two small sodas and a bag of popcorn were $21.00. That's right - $21.00. Would I come back here? Only if I brought in my own refreshments. Oh c'mon, you know almost all of you all do that. read more

I came here to see the new Avatar movie for a matinee. Past the normal complaints about going to movies these day (expensive tickets, expensive concessions, etc) I had a mediocre experience. Yes, this theater has recliners but the space is old and cramped. I will say that parking was ample and leaving out the rear of the building after the movie was convenient. I would look elsewhere for most movies. However, if you are in for a three hour epic like I was for the new Avatar, this is probably your best bet near Clayton. read more

We came here to see the Barbie movie. I was stressed out having to sit near the front as other seats were sold out, but because the chairs are reclining chairs, you can lean back and see the screen well! I have never been to this theater before so I was very pleasantly surprised at the food menu. They had so many options that I normally don't see, and they had the nutrition info posted. They also had healthy snacks like almond and beef jerky which we ended up buying. They have the fancy soda fountains as well where you can custom your drinks. this theater is so god dang cute. love how it still holds much of the character of an older film theater. the individual theater was huge and so spread out, many theaters just feel cramped. love seeing my girl Nicole Kidman, "heartbreak feels good in a place like this" the only negative is the walls are sooooo thin and it appears to be there's two floors of theaters, so if you're watching a quieter film you can hear every other movie around you. still one of the best and comfiest AMC theaters I've been too. they truly do make movies better read more

Ordered nachos and the chips were expired & still had to pay for something different , went after Christmas & the pictures speak for my experience then & not to mention the section for seating was trash as if they NEVER CLEAN UP in between movies it was disgusting. read more

We just saw the Barbie movie and were able to sit right in the middle of the theater. We were helped by a young guy to get tickets right as you the building. Of course we got popcorn and drinks. The large popcorn comes in a not so big container compared to other theater concessions, but they do offer free refills. The reclining chairs were so comfy I almost fell asleep. The rows of chairs are also spaced out so you aren't bumping people when you have to exited to get your popcorn refill. The theater was clean and nothing seemed sticky. A good experience. read more

Went to this theater last night for the first time to see a movie. I went with a friend who is an AMC A List member, so she was able to get a discounted Tuesday ticket for me. I didn't get anything from concessions, but my friend said the popcorn was tasty. The theater feels a little old on the inside, but I did enjoy the comfy reclining seats. There was plenty of parking for the theater which is nice on such a busy street. I had a good theater experience and would come back to see another movie! read more

I love when they first remodeled the Esquire and prior to remodeling I avoided this place.. It was a little rowdy. Someone remodeling changed the traffic flow and it's a much better environment. The staff is always friendly and the lines aren't too long but it just doesn't seem like they try their best to keep the facility in tip top shape..I hear the men's bathroom is terrible and the women's is just ok. read more

This is a relatively small theater. As soon as you walk in you see the snacks and liquor counter. All shows have the red leather seats that are super comfortable. There is plenty of room for parking in the back. The staff is nice and I haven't had a problem here. read more

This is my go to movie theater. Pros: - Assigned seats. If you order your tickets ahead of time, no need to worry about getting to the theater early to get good seats. Also, you can get your tickets on your phone. - Super comfortable reclining seats, this is only a downside if you are really old, because you might fall asleep. - Pretty nice theater. Looks like it was updated within a decade. - You can buy beer. Cons: - In order to enter the theater, you have to walk from the back parking lot to the front of the theater. Not a huge deal, but I never really enjoyed walking through the sketchy alley. - Prices may be a few dollars more than typical theaters without the reclining seats, but I mean you pay for the additional comfort. I would say there are very few cons, which is why this is my go to theater. Check this theater out next time you are going to watch a movie! read more

I am use to AMC; as a Stubs Member, I love this brand. However, this smaller quaint neighborhood theater was not up to snuff! The staff was friendly and courteous but the facilities were not what I am accustomed to with the AMC brand. There was nothing wrong or done directly to me during my visit to this location to influence my rating; however, there was trash everywhere . I enjoyed the movie and will venture back here if there is a move I am dying to see during an impromptu moment, but other than that I will feel more inclined to venture else where. Cheers, read more

I really hate to admit this but I was skeptical. Hadn't been to Esquire in many years because it had began to get a bit raunchy; subpar service a few years before they closed for remodeling. And who knows...maybe they whole remodeling was an attempt to renew their reputation. Whatever the reason; it was a success. The renovation has made a believer out of Christy. I went back for the first time in probably 6-7 years to catch the morning showing of Straight Outta Compton (had to beat the rush) It did not disappoint. I can't comment on the ticket purchasing process because mine was waiting for me at the podium but it looked like an easy computerized kiosk type transaction. The concessions looked nice and items plentiful for those who prefer to blow the budget at these counters. The decor was inviting; the halls well lit with upcoming features pictured throughout. The theater had electronic reclining seats with foot rest. The seats were roomy and extremely comfortable as well as the surrounding area. I can honestly say I am a fan of the new Esquire Theater. read more

This movie theater is a convenient location for me but not my first pick. The chairs are nice and comfortable the lines are never outrages but I'm a premiere member and there's no access to premiere line. The restrooms are fairly clean. The theaters never have the names of what movie is in what theater which is . The mini Marques are never working or lit with what movie is playing in what theater. I went to the bathroom once and forgot what room I was in she couldn't figure it out without going to the front desk to ask for assurance. This was inconvenient because I wasted more time trying to get back to the movie. Are any rate is a fairly decent theater although on Tuesdays it's packed because of 5$ Tuesday's. read more

I stayed at the STL Airport Marriott Hotel and drove an easy 8 miles to get to this AMC to watch the movie Alien Covenant on its opening weekend after reading all the reviews on Yelp & Trip Advisor before selecting which AMC to go to. The outside of this AMC looks like an old dying building. When you walk to the front doors, you see two AMC computers where you can get tickets before even walking inside. When you first walk in, you see three more computers and staff standing there to help you but it's a tight squeeze when groups of people arrive at the same time. I think the computerize ticketing is awesome. I have no issues whatsoever with technology. It's a wonderful thing. However, seeing as this place is so small, you should totally get your tickets outside and walk straight in, better yet, download the app and let them scan your ticket from your phone. Why don't I see more people using their smart phones for this, what do we have smart phones for anyway? This AMC has a full bar stocked with alcohol just so that in case someone has nothing better to do than drink and drink some more they can drink now while watching the movie and really be loud, drunk and annoying during your favorite movie. I'm still not sure why having alcohol at an AMC theater is even cool but I dislike the idea very much. I can understand for touristy AMC theaters like in Orlando, Florida but otherwise, I just don't get it. This theater does have recliner chair seating and while the concession area is really small and inconvenient the stadium seating is huge. I would not want to come to this theater after dark just because the area looks suspect and I could just imagine the rudeness of drunk people sitting behind you, like the two losers behind me during this visit. But I'm happy I read the reviews to the other AMC theaters because one of them didn't have recliner seating and the other apparently has some glass blocking your view to the movie. One question AMC - why isn't there security here if you sell alcohol? Do you know how quickly issues escalate when you ask someone politely to be quiet when they're on their cell phone during a movie and they're drunk? Not one attendant walked down the aisles to check-in during the movie either. Not cool. read more

I still enjoy this theater and will continue to visit when I want to see movies. I really enjoy the reclining seats and I like how we can reserve seats in advance! The concessions are good and the line moves fast, but then when you have to go get your drink it can really slow things down because you have to wait for the people in front of you to fill up their drinks and make decisions. The only thing I need to mention is that the women's restroom is TERRIBLE! It was clearly designed by a man. There isn't much room in the aisle to get to a stall so you have to let someone out of the stall (and aisle) before you can go in. Two people can not be in the aisle at the same time. It's a terrible amenity to this theater and I really wish they would have consulted women before this design. It's so crowded and I hate it. Luckily, they have a single women's restroom upstairs so I make my way up there and have the room all to myself. read more

Soooo happy that Esquire has renovated! I remember Esquire from way back in the day and I'm glad to see that the powers that be decided to keep it around and give it a make-over. This theater comes complete with reclining seats, a cocktail bar for adult beverages and a few hot menu options. What do i look for in a theater? 1) is it close to home? Yes. yes this one is. 2) does it have parking? Yup! 3) can i usually get a good seat in the theater? yup! AND the seats are the remodeled kind that reclines and are assigned. when we realized that last point, this theater became our default. their restrooms are kept fairly clean. the soda machines are the type that you can mix and match flavors etc (which is fun because i'm still 12 at heart) we probably see 10ish movies a year so having this theater around is great! we also got the level of stubs membership that you pay for. it's nice because we can get movie tickets online without paying a handling fee and the reward points we rack up is enough to pay for the membership for the next year. tuesday nights are cheaper too! and i got a popcorn and soda for my birthday month! (this is starting to sound like an ad. i am so sorry) why is this review not 5 stars? well, a lot of the screens are smaller than i would like... so there's that. but at least there are lots of options! read more

Well I have to say the renovation that they did to the AMC is AMAZING. Its a complete 180 in décor, design, and service. Everyone is friendly and greets you and always has a smile on their face. People seem happy to be working their! The interior is identical to the new AMC locations on Olive. The food was delicious. I had the chicken tenders and I wanted seconds they were so good. The chairs in the theaters recline and are the same leather ones as the other AMC locations. The screens in every theater rooms are larger than before, the sound system has been revamped. Long story shorts they pretty much opened up a brand spankin new theater. They offer hot food, they have a bar for the 21 and older, multiple coca cola dispensers, reclining leather chairs and great service. This is all you need to have a happy movie night experience. I hope that this theater does not get trashed and that people actually care about maintaining it and throwing away their trash after the movie. They're BACK... I had a blanket rule to never go to the Esquire, but now they've remodeled. And it's great! The walkway from the back lot through to Clayton is still creepy as hell, but at least there's lights now, that's the only thing I'm subtracting a star for. Everything else is great. There's a bar now, and the drinks are ok and the bartender was friendly. The food is on par with the county theatres - I had a personal size pizza and it was good. The seats, though...! They are plush recliners, so comfy. Another thing I like is there are assigned seats - you and your party can make sure you're sitting together. Another thing, they have fancy coke machines where you mix flavors. In short, they've improved 1000%, and instead of avoiding them, I put them at the top of the list. read more

My first thought was: this is going to be horrible! But honestly, it wasn't that bad. It was my first time at this theater and I don't think I would have come here if not for the reviews about how the renovations actually made this place nicer. There are ticket kiosks inside and out to purchase tickets for any shows they have playing at the moment. When buying your ticket, you get to choose your seat inside the theater as well. Then the concession stand is right up front with quite a bit of selection of your usual movie theater goodies. Also, on the opposite side of the regular concession is the bar area where you could purchase adult beverage but it seemed like they open at 3pm so if you're seeing an earlier show, you might be out of luck. They have soda machines with more options than other movie theaters. I actually thought they were really cool! You do have to get your own drinks and butter your own popcorn, etc. The bad part that I've noticed is that the place isn't insulated well enough that you can hear the other movie playing in the other room. Otherwise, the seating was comfortable. They have reclining chairs that were very spacious, the carpeting looked brand new but did need some cleaning (crumbs everywhere), they put letters on the aisle and numbers on the seats so it is convenient to find your seat. Other than that, it wasn't an unpleasant experience. I would come back here again to see a matinée since it's quite reasonable in price and close to home. read more
