Had an AMAZING experience here for a drive in movie with our crew! We were able to find a movie (these movies they show are also being shown in theaters) we've been wanting to see and made the drive from St. Louis to Skyview and are so glad we did! They have a playground for kids to play on before the movie starts which is great so the kids before the movie can let out some energy before the movie starts. There was plenty of room for my car to park and they had a separate screen that showed another movie all together. The concession stand had good choices (typical ballpark food) that are teams only proved which is great since I feel like movie theatres charge an arm and a leg for concessions. It's an older facility but it also feels like you're stepping back in time to appreciate a newly released movie at a drive in just like it used to be back in the 70-80s. Needless to say we had a really fun and great time and loved the fact that it was family friendly. There were some teenagers hanging in the back of the parking lot but nothing too disturbing or obnoxious at all while we were there. We definitely plan on going back! read more

This was our second visit to Skyview, and it was as good as our first visit, last Spring. Surprisingly difficult information to locate beforehand is that Skyview is a Cash admittance business. While it is not plainly posted on their website, it is prominently displayed at their entrance. So... bring ample cash to cover your party's admission. The physical setup is dialed in, parking is organized by "white" spaces for regular sized cars and "orange" marked ones for bigger vehicles, like vans. You're told which to use at admission, and this ensures everyone's view of the screen is unobstructed. The movie itself started on time, the quality of the projection and audio were also great. We brought our foods this time so I can't comment on the food stand. Our family of 7, really appreciated Skyview's "kids night," as all kids under 12 had free admission. For $20 ($10 per adult), we were able to take our family to this newly released kid's movie. What a bargain... practically unheard of in these times! Combine that with their renovated playground and it's really unmatched anywhere else. Most attendees were respectful of others, though I did see a strong usher presence at the ready, so that may have helped! Skyview is a gem, definitely worth the visit and particularly so on family night if you've got a load of kids! read more

I have never had a more poor experience than what happened tonight. This was my 1st time here. When I checked in I was given a paper for the orange section that had the rules for that section. One of the rules was there listed states do not raise lift gates and doors higher than the top clearance of the vehicle. This was ignored by the staff. All vehicles with tailgates and hatch backs had them raised above the top of the vehicles which blocked our view of a quarter of the screen. Another rule on this paper states use of Marijuana is strictly forbidden and people breaking this rule may be asked to leave if it's violated. Again this was not enforced by the staff. When I brought my concerns to the staff politely I was greeted with a very rude and disrespectful tone by several members of the staff who stated they don't enforce any rules in the orange section and if I didn't like it I could get a refund and leave. I was shocked and saddened by this response and made the decision to leave. As I headed to the box office to get my refund I asked a staff member how to get my refund. He told me to park my truck on the side and walk the rest of the way to the box office to get my refund. As a disabled veteran this seemed excessive to me but I followed his direction. When I got to the box office i was greeted by an older man who stated he was the top manager there and began talking rudely and disrespectful to me. When I tried to explain the issues that were causing me to leave he aggressively told me to get the hell out of there. I was so shocked I again tried to explain the issues like the Marijuana to which another staff member interrupted and asked me what did he want them to do because they didn't bring in the Marijuana. At this point I again asked the man who identified himself as the manager for my refund to which he grabbed some money from a till and again told me to get the he'll out of there in a rude, disrespectful and aggressive tone. As a disabled veteran I have never been spoken to like that before for simply requesting a refund and relaying why I wanted my refund. Im told this was voted America's best drive in. That was not my experience and I'm severely disappointed and sad. I will not be back. read more

Drive-in theaters are always fun but there's just a cool nostalgic feeling about Skyview. To be able to bring your own food and drink for everyone you can pack in your vehicle is a savings of about $100 from the regular movie theater. We still end up going to concession to get the standard popcorn and hot dogs because why not lol. The staff could spend a second addressing the bathrooms. They're nasty guys... This place was great! It's only about 20mins from St. Louis. Our family had so much fun. We were visiting from out of state and had a rental car, none of us had ever been to a drive in movie so didn't know what to bring or expect! Some people had generators and fans while others like us just brought the car. I would definitely recommend going in a pickup truck or bring chairs since it is kinda hard to see from inside a SUV. Also make sure you bring a radio to hear the movie. Although the website says to come at seven, the movie realistically won't start until nine or so. ( at least in the summer I'm not sure about any other time) if you are planning on bringing little kids, just know they probably won't make it through the whole movie. The food at the little snack place was good. My popcorn was great, but my friends didn't love there's. My friend got a burger and said it was really good! read more

The incompetence of the managers and the owner was out of this world. Cops were called and nothing was done. Last Saturday my family took my daughters to see Inside Out 2 at this drive in with my daughters. To my horror, I was told that two adults were having sex in the car parked in from of them. Their car was turned backwards were the windshield was facing my family's car. They went in to complain and get a refund and instead was told they wouldn't be given a refund but to just move their car in another spot. Meanwhile, the couple caught in the act left out the lot without ANY altercation. The police were called and my family basically was told nothing could be done which led me to believe, this isn't the first time this has happened. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't lewd indecent behavior in public a crime?? I'm leaving this review as a parent and citizen of Belleville to alert anyone that is still a believer in justice for standing for what's right. Do not give this establishment and of your money. This theater doesn't have walls or a roof! 1 Star! Ok, just kidding. But reading some of the negative reviews on here are about as ridiculous. Skyview is a drive in theater so it isn't meant to be a luxury theater experience with heated leather recliners. It is very much what you make of it. I hadn't been to Skyview in decades. We decided to go early in the summer because it is a Covid safe way of seeing a movie. Plus they have been showing great classic movies. Who doesn't want to see Ghost Busters, Caddy Shack, Jaws, Sixteen Candles, etc on the big screen again?! Plus I love the vintage ads for their concessions. We have become regulars, going pretty much every Saturday. You get to see 2 movies for $10 per person. That is a great deal in my book. Plus you can bring your own snacks and drinks. There is an inexpensive concession stand if you'd like. And yes there are bathrooms. Sure they are dated (and the women's bathroom could use locks on the stalls) but you won't be hanging out in the bathroom so who cares if they aren't fancy. What you will need: Show up and get your car in line before the box office opens at 7 pm. Cash for the tickets. Folding lawn chairs or some other way to sit to watch the movies. A portable radio (don't rely on your car radio for the audio since your battery will likely die). A mask to wear into the restroom or concession stand. Pack jackets and blankets because even if it is warm during the day it can be cool or even cold after dark. And bring a fun attitude! The staff is nice and helpful but they will definitely call you out on your crap if you're bothering the people around you (as they should). You can also bring your dogs (hopefully just well behaved ones, which mine don't really qualify as). What not to bring: Pot. Yes it is now fall but they are still open. Bundle up and come on out. Support a local landmark and see some great movies (including new movies). Oh, and if it rains an event out like what happened with one of the live comedian shows recently, blame mother nature and not the staff or performer. This is 2020. Shit is gonna happen. read more

The original socially distant activity... The drive-in! I went for the first time ever a few weeks ago. There are two screens. It seems one usually has little kid friendly movies and the other has the kind of horror my friends and I went to see. We were directly how to pick a spot and given instructions for how to listen (car radio). The concession stand was operating. We didn't get anything. They have historical photos and a projector in there, so it is worth a walk through. We had about an hour of Looney Tunes shorts before the show. I fell asleep during the second of 3 movies because I usually keep an 8 p.m. bedtime like the 4 year old I strive to remain. read more

There were a lot of great things about this drive in, as well as some things I would change. Good things: play area, concession, security and staff What i would change: surrounding lights, painted poles, hatches untied The play area was very nice. The staff are great. They tell big kids to calm down and they help protect the younger kids. I saw one boy being rude and endangering other kids. The staff member had him escorted to his parents (they were not in the play area with him). Theres a lot of food available in the concession (see pic). If you want something custom made, they will do that too. The staff were nice and helped ensure safety. Theres a grocery store not far from the drive in. While that can be great, the lights definitely take away from the movie. Not much you can do about that, though. The cars here are parked one deep, which is great. But the poles are color coded. White is for cars and orange is SUVs and trucks. The white ones are in the middle and orange in the back and sides. This is frustrating for people that own crossovers. And very frustrating for people parked behind someone who has a hatchback. I wish they would make people tie their hatchback so that it isn't higher than their vehicle's roof. Some drive ins do that and i really appreciate when they do. One other thing. There are bathrooms and portapotties. The bathrooms do not have circulating air and are old. But they work fine and you have a good place to wash your hands with soap. read more

I love Skyview and can't believe that haven't reviewed it before now. It is seasonal, March through Halloween (they do a slasher movie fest each year to end the season), they are open nightly when school is out and weekends otherwise. They have 2 screens and each is a double feature. Skyview is an antique and does show its age in some places but they've updated to digital and are always making additional improvements. The staff is really good about making sure big trucks don't park up front and block the view. Concessions are limited but does it matter since you can bring your own? Stock a cooler, bring some beer and lawn chairs, or an inflatable mattress for you trick bed and have a good time at this local landmark. If you forget to bring your snack or run out of beer because you're a lush, you're right next door to Schnucks and can run across the parking lot. Bring your pooch too, as long as they aren't a barker, it's pet friendly. If they are you won't be removed but you'll feel the judgement from those around you, including me. Skyview is very reasonably priced but if you're looking for even more of a bargain they usually have a special on Groupon. Get there early, traffic often backs up on high profile movie premier nights. Yes! They play new releases, the same you'd find at a typical theatre unless you go on a special event night for a throwback. Those are my favorite nights to go! Audio is played through your radio, so bring your boombox if you don't want to listen through your car speakers. Heads up on the bathrooms for you folks who are picky about that. They kind of feel like you are at a camp ground but they do the trick, or you can class it up and use a port-a-John. Just don't complain about it, it's part of the charm. I love bringing my son here for movies and to give him a little taste of my childhood. One small.quibble though: I have a Kia Soul.and have been parking between two white poles all summer except tonight, when I was told that my vehicle is "high profile" and I had to move between two orange polls. After expressing my displeasure, I did so. Then they allowed a Jeep with a much taller profile than mine to park between two of the white polls. They didn't ask it to move to between two orange polls. This seemed very unfair to me. read more

I had absolutely NO idea that we had a Drive-In so close to us! Located just across the River in Belleville, IL Skyview is the real deal! Well, I'm pretty sure it's the real deal since I've never been to a drive-in before Friday night. But it seemed to be pretty authentic. If you've never been to the drive-in before, here's how it works: cars line up to pay (and this one only takes Cash! ooops, I had to run to the Schnucks next door to get some!) and are given their movie tickets, along with a parking permit. Depending on what kind of vehicle you came with will depend on where you can park. Pick a spot in your designated area and tune your radio to the designated station. You can bring snacks and booze, too! Since our small group met up earlier at Square One Brewery, we each took a growler to-go with some cups - 'cause heaven forbid we see a movie without beer! I also brought some popcorn and candy. And if you do want to sit outside the car, bring some camping chairs. Iron Man 2 was playing first, which is what we came to see. It was almost exactly two hours. And for $9 per person, you actually get two movies if you want to stick around for the second show. We didn't, 'cause it was getting late and were tired. I went here for the first time with two of my nephews and my mom on Wednesday and had a great time. This was our first time coming here. I first heard about this place off of Yelp and then soon after bought a coupon for 2 Adult tickets (2 kids can come in free with each paying adult!) and a popcorn. It was about a 30 minute drive from mid-county and the movies start approx 20 min after sunset. That generally means between 8-9pm during the movie season. Be sure to check the weather forecast before you head out as I can't see it being as much fun during bad weather. There are two screens and the sound comes from a radio station. Its important to bring lawn chairs if you don't plan on sitting in your vehicle as the ground is rocky. I also brought an old battery-powered boom box to pick up the movie sound. It worked out great (they play old time 50s songs on the radio station before the movies start). We also had no problem seeing the screen at all. They do a good job of spacing out the vehicles based on size. Another great part about this place is that each screen shows two movies so you get to watch two movies for the price of one (if you can stay awake til 1am). In addition to a concession stand, the movies are located right next to a Schnucks. You can buy everything you want to eat/drink and bring it inside. Alcohol is allowed here. There is also a playground open for kids before the movies start. This place is worth checking out. I really enjoyed my first drive-in movie experience. read more

This was my first time going to a drive-in and I really enjoyed it! We got a groupon and came on a Sunday evening to watch IronMan 3. It wasn't too crowded but the parking lot was quite full of cars parked at each spot. Others brought chairs to sit outside next to their car, or backed up their car and sat on the edge of the trunk to watch the movie. It was fun getting buttery popcorn from the stand and returning to the car. They also gave us a trash bag to keep the car from getting messy. I was happy with the quality of the screen and audio---we didn't want to use up my car battery so we used our phones to connect to the radio channel with the movie audio. The only con is that I had to go the bathroom really really badly in the middle of the movie during a scary scene (the people with glowing red eyes...yes I am easily scared) and I got lost while looking for the bathroom, which wasn't marked clearly, and it was a bit creepy to wander around in the dark in circles around the building. Now that I know where the bathroom is, that won't happen again. Will have to bring friends here so that they can experience a drive-in theater! read more

Awesome experience at this drivin for a horror triple feature (though I only stayed for the first two)! The price is $10 dollars a head, which even for a double is extremely reasonable, plus there was an hour of Looney-Tunes (we had Road Runner on our screen) up front, which I thought was a delightful retro touch. We brought our own snacks and beverages, so did not wind up buying anything at the concession stand, but it is worth checking out for the old articles on the wall about the history of the place. I found the sound quality through the radio to be very good (just made sure to start my car now and again because I was worried about the battery). Other people would sit outside their cars either on hatchbacks or in the beds of pickups or on foldable lawn chairs (as long as they stay in the parking space, which is plenty big to allow for this) and I guess use a handheld radio or perhaps play from their car? In the summer, I imagine that would be perfect. This place seems like such a cool institution and I'm glad I made sure to experience it! read more

The staff was EXTREMELY rude when I was trying to dim my lights on the inside of the car so I could actually see the movie.

My first ever drive-in movie. I grew up listening to stories of my mom and dad going to them often. So, I thought this would be a great opportunity to go myself. The way I learned about this place is completely random. I was babysitting for one of my usual families Friday afternoon. The kids were telling me how they got to see the movie Brave with their mom that morning. I love Disney Pixar movies, and I was craving to see Brave. Some how I forgot that Friday was opening day. When the dad got home to relieve me, he told me that Skyview is where I should go view it. He told me the time it was showing (8pm), and I didn't even bother looking it up myself. Instead I took his word for it, GPSed the place, and off my boyfriend and I got to the drive-in. There is a Schnuck's right beside the movies. We stopped in and got some grub to take with us in. Upon entering the drive-in, you pull up where you get your tickets. It's $10 per person in the car. For Jason and I it was $20. I told him next time we go, he has to get in the trunk. Keep in mind you must pay cash. The attendant gives you a trash bag for you to discard your trash, and 2 pull off raffle ticket things. Along with your trash bag, there are paper instructions on the movie theatre and parking to guide you to your screen. Follow the instructions because if you ask the movie attendants, they turn out to be little to no help. They talk quickly and extremely mumbled. We would know after trying to talk to 2 separate attendants guiding us through the parking lot packed with cars. Once we got to our location, we set up shop. Had dinner and continued to wait. Apparently 8pm wasn't show time after all, but instead at 9pm. We sat there an hour eating, talking, and watching the sun set before the movie came on. It turns out getting there an hour early is a solid idea. When we arrived, the place was already jam packed full. As time progressed, it increasingly got busier. For those who have kids, there is a playground for the kiddies to kill the time under the huge movie screen. The lights on the screen signal before the show is about to start. Good concept to have. When here, you don't have the speaker boxes like the old days. You tune in on the FM radio to listen to the movie. Clever if I might say so myself. Everyone has their windows down in their cars anyway, so if you do choose to sit in lawn chairs, you're not going to have difficulty hearing the film. Concessions and bathroom facilities are available. We didn't use the concessions since we brought our own stuff, but I can imagine they probably have standard priced items like you would get at the normal theatre. Right as the credits started we high tailed it out of there. Probably a rude move on my part, but I was tired and ready to hit the road. We made a clean getaway and dodged the traffic out of there. Brave was a good movie. The experience was a lot of fun and totally worth the 25 minute drive to Belleville to see it. I would do this again and encourage you to do the same. read more

They have 2 screens, and each play 2 movie per night -- only open on fri and sat nights. The sound is broadcast through am FM station, so you can tune in through your speakers or a portable radio. It's $10 a person, which I don't think was bad, since you can see 2 movies for that. The concession stand is extensive (burgers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn) and really cheap for a movie theater ($5 for large popcorn). We went with lawn chairs and sport sized SUV, so half sat outside and half inside the car. I thought we were pretty prepared, but was several mistaken -- people who frequent here know how to do it. They came with coolers, candles, blankets, what looked like multi-course meals -- it was impressive. Tips: There's a schnucks right next to it, so get there a bit early, swing in a pick up snacks, cold beer, etc. Also, plan on waiting a bit (10 min or so). I will definitely be back! Yes, there is a drive-in theater in the St. Louis area. It's old school... well, not as old school. Instead of hanging a speaker on the side of the car, you can tune into a dedicated AM station. Just make sure your speakers are working in your car. The concession stand is kind of ghetto, in my opinion. There's the fake cheese, nachos, popcorn, and hot dogs, all a little overpriced, but you fell like you're walking in a grade school cafeteria line. Stereotypically, drive-ins are make out spots, and it's kind of funny to smirk at "steamed up windows." I didn't know that happened, but it does here. It's not stadium seating, but it's a good place to experience some childhood nostalgia, or gain a new experience. Fun stuff... I suggest trying this place out before they ALL close down. read more

It's a rarity and get's 5 stars for that. This drive in however isn't what I grew up on. No speakers on your windows. (You better have a radio with you or a car that doesn't have to have lights on to run the radio) and their concession stand isn't clean what so ever. Oh and you better use the bathroom before going here, which is hard because two movies is a long time to "hold it". I've been here several times and all but one time all stalls had no toliet paper. Great little drive in. Often crowded on Friday and Saturday so be prepared to arrive early for good parking spots. The main screen has a playground in front of it which is nice for the kids while waiting on show to start. They always play a double feature so for the same cost as a ticket with the name brand theaters you get to see TWO box office hits!! Can't go wrong there. They have 2 screens one of which is usually playing a family friendly film and the other a more adults set. The Concession stands is conveniently located between both screens. The have a nice variety of food choices. Burgers/fries. Chicken fingers, onion rings, cheese sticks, pickles, cotton candy and other sweets as well as everyone's movie favorite... POPCORN !!
