    DISCOUNTS AT THE THEATER?!?? YES!!!
    Yudelka S.

Great location, clean restrooms, lots of concession options. Spacious theaters, not sure if all theaters have the slight recliners or if some have the full recliners, either way, seating is comfortable. Elevators available for persons with disabilities, or fear of heights, as the endless escalators can be a bit daunting for some. Stop by if you need a bit of quiet in the middle of busy Times Square.

It was so hot inside the theater, it's ridiculous! Just because some of us like to spend our money & travel far to come to enjoy a movie, you guys can treat us better. Always doing this ! The temperature is always messed up inside , it's very uncomfortable while watching movies!

Everytime I come here there are disruptive people ruining the movie. There is no security or staff monitoring the auditoriums looking for this. During the whole movie people are just chatting away, like they're in their own living room, totally oblivious to how annoying they are. Other people are scrolling on their phones, or even snoring. Someone even took a phone call during a movie. One time, an old lady said "sush" to people who were being loud, and they responded by yelling threats of violence at her. Security should be checking the auditoriums, not just hiding in corners of the hallways. Nobody wants to get up to report the problem because they'll miss a big chunk of the movie to look around this giant building for an employee or security guard who's probably on a different floor and doesn't care anyway. We shouldn't have to miss 20 minutes of the movie to report this. The employees and security should be more visible, nearby, and checking auditoriums, readily available to handle complaints and take action about disruptive people. Something needs to change in a very big way, because sometimes I wish I never came here for a movie.

This movie theater improved since last year ! I think they replaced the old fabric seats with new leather rockers. I haven't seen them in a while and used to always dread coming here because I hated those really gross, stained, and dirty fabric seats. The nicest theaters here are definitely the IMAX, Dolby, and PRIME ones. One of the escalators need to be repaired; noticed a wobbly step on the one that leads to the highest floor. It's also not as clean as the other AMCs, but I go here for movies that don't play at the other AMCs. Food is decent (though overpriced) and sometimes there's a long wait so I would only recommend getting food if you get here early. Trailers usually run for 30 minutes.

Biggest AMC I've been to. I enjoy going to difference theaters when im out of town & this one was a little tiring but also a cool experience. The staff was great & helped out when we got lost

Unfortunately this theater gets some movies that the other AMC locations don't and I begrudgingly go here. This is basically the Wild Wild West of movie theaters because the most out of pocket audience members will go here in the afternoon or evening. To the two different women who talked on their phones during the Casper anniversary rerelease and ignored the pleas of people to shut up, you truly are entitled. I find in general it's fine if you go in the early morning, which is typically my preference before a Broadway matinee. Not all the theaters are recliners and some have the terrible club rockers, so keep that in mind if picking it over the Lincoln Square or the one by Penn. The employees are all kind and helpful and attentive. I especially like the elevator operator employees because it makes it feel very old school. There's also tons of bathrooms so I never had to wait. I did find it odd that an employee gave me a hard time about my reusable water bottle. I was clearly coming from work and I feel like everyone has a reusable water bottle now? I don't know if he was on a weird power trip or what but he tried to act like he was doing me a favor by letting it slide. I showed him it was just water and I wasn't sneaking any food in.

I've always avoided coming to this particular AMC. I'm a native NY'er so venturing into the Times Square area is never on my to-do list. I came here begrudgingly a few weeks ago because they were having a Q&A for an independent movie that wasnt showing anywhere else. Well, turns out this place is really nice! Pretty much any subway can take you here so getting here isn't a problem. The lobby has kiosks where you can buy your tickets. Just download the AMC app to bypass that. After that you have to go up a couple of escalators. This is the BIGGEST movie theater that I've ever been to. I'm sure everyone gets lost at some point while there! It reminds me of an old hotel as I was going up the initial 3 escalators. After you get off them you are hit with the concessions and ticket scanner. Prices for concessions are a bit crazy, but you're in NYC so I'm not surprised. After that it's up another escalator! If you're in theaters 12 and up, you have to go up more! I've been in theaters 10 and 11 here. I preferred 10 since seat E8 is sequestered in the corner with no one around you. That's my kind of seat! Sound and picture are great in both theaters. 11 is bigger. Both only have rockers, not recliners. Bathrooms are plenty and did their job. First time I came here I totally got lost leaving the place. I took an elevator towards the back down to exit. I got very confused because I would up in the lobby of Dave and Busters. ‍ Didn't know that was going to happen but it prepared me for my next venture here. The ticket scanners weren't the friendliest, but everyone else was. Will I be back? Sure. I had an image of this place in my head that it totally wasn't. Glad I gave it a chance.

It was interesting to see this giant AMC across the street from another large movie theater. I guess everything is on a bigger scale in NYC. This theater is HUGE. 25 theaters across multiple floors and felt like a labyrinth. The theater and the movie experience was good...AMC could use a big food and drink upgrade though nationwide.

As a cinephile who has walked past this theater on every NYC and longed to see the inside of it, we decided to catch a late night movie on this trip to the city. It's definitely a unique experience, a labyrinth of escalators (I think 4?) just to get to the actual lobby. We saw 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in the Dolby theater. The sound and screen quality were great, but I wish we would've sat a bit closer since the seats are way further back than I thought they would be. There's also zero room between the recliners and the walls dividing each row, so we had to sit our chairs back up anytime anyone needed to get past us. The audience was just as bad as a typical one back home in St. Louis- I can't believe people pay $30 to see a movie in NY and still show up 15 minutes late (and after 30 minutes of trailers???) and talk through the whole thing. All that being said, it was a fun time even if I will most likely never visit this theater again.

It's always a good and relaxing time at amc empire 42nd st. Especially when you go early morning or afternoon .

The AMC is located conveniently next to the subway station and Times Square. It has old fashioned decorations and modern facilities inside. When I visited, one escalator seems broken and not functional for a while. The food and drink service and ticket check-in are located on the third floor, and I have to say the structure is very confusing for entry and exit. The IMAX theater is huge here, although I think seats are overly packed and quite few front and back rows weren't built for good experience.

    Tameeka B.

Went to see Sinners. I haven't been to this theater in probably a year. The theater our movie was playing in did not have reclining seats. The sound was fine but just be aware of where you get seats bc we were right by the speakers. They have a lot of drink options from beer to wine to cocktails and you can order snacks and food before getting to the theatre. Your best bet is order tix, drinks, food on the app so you do not spend time waiting on lines.

(Click on my Substack for more Baumbach thoughts including my brief interaction with the auteur, as awkward as many of his finest scenes). You may have heard about the successful company that helped destroy movie theaters by pivoting to "content" meant to promote purchases of high-end TVs and nice couches. (Related, I went to Best Buy and didn't recognize anything. Is that a thermostat? A stereo? A smart garden hose?) This company was so successful, that after Knives Out was heralded as single-handedly reviving non-Marvel film, its sequel was withheld from the theaters it allegedly saved. (BTW, if you were planning to tell me to watch the amazing 53-part Quibi streaming series about The Golden Age Of Hollywood, don't bother). But after Netflix helped destroy theaters, it did a nice thing. It's one of those ironic moments like the purse-snatcher scene in Jay Kelly. It signed a lease that helped the Paris avoid the fate of the Ziegfeld and a million others, in a world where the AMC theaters that destroyed all the independents have been suffering themselves. So, while it was vile that Netflix thought Roma should be seen on TVs, it was nice of them to show it at the Paris, especially for the unusually vibrant sound. I saw Train Dreams Saturday. I suppose, like the kid in Squid and The Whale, I am a philistine. I wish I could praise its morose existentialism but I'm not quite on board. However, I did appreciate the majesty of the northwestern fires and falling trees in this venue. There was no assigned seating; not sure if this is just temporary, but if they keep that policy I might be obliged to overlook Netflix's evil and upgrade to 5 stars.

Thank you to my son! First off, this location is massive and impressively well kept. From the moment you walk in, there's a kind of buzz that makes it feel like more than just a movie theater, wow it feels like an exciting experience. The lobby is spacious and clean, with plenty of kiosks to keep lines moving quickly, even when it's busy. The staff were friendly and efficient, which made everything easy from the start. We watched the film in one of their premium auditoriums, and that's where AMC Lincoln Square really stands out. The screen was enormous, the sound system was crisp and immersive, and the seating was extremely comfortable with plenty of leg room and great sightlines all around. It's the kind of setup that lets you fully sink into the movie without distractions. As for Michael, it felt less like a warts and all documentary and more like a musical celebration of an icon. The film leans into the legacy and artistry, leaving audiences feeling satisfied and entertained, though it may leave those looking for a deeper or more critical exploration of the tougher parts of the story wanting more. Still, seeing it in such a high quality theater really elevated the experience and played to the film's strengths. And I have to mention the snacks that I had which was the pretzel which was enormous and surprisingly delicious! Honestly, it was so big I couldn't even finish it (which never happens), but it was a perfect movie treat and definitely worth trying. What made the night most memorable, though, was sharing it with my son and the others, we had a great time. Between the energy of the theater and the spectacle of the film, it felt like more than just a movie, it was a great night out together. Overall, AMC Lincoln Square delivers comfort, quality, and a true big screen experience. I'll absolutely be coming back.

The staff member also went out of her way to separate the popcorn for all three of us, which we really appreciated. We ended up with great seats and an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend this theater for both the atmosphere and the amazing staff!

On the schematic it appears the last row is the row to pick .... but once inside theater 3, I realized it's far back in relation to the size of the screen. (I so prefer the old-fashioned method of sit-where-you-want.) Recliner seats are comfortable, although shabby. And the place seemed clean enough. If your schedule is flexible, save money by going to a morning show, applicable even on weekends. A little aside, which has nothing to do with my review: in the mid-eighties, a date and I were in this theater watching a Melanie Griffith film. I turned around to find Andy Warhol sitting directly behind me. Only in NY!

Now that Spring has spring, and we have this up and down weather, I took a chance last minute on Friday night about 3:25 PM. Scored a premium ticket for 5pm movie. The showtimes seem to be more typical of after 7 PM. most of the movies that they're showing are around like 930 and unfortunately that's a timeframe that just doesn't fit for me. but the movies that they're showing are pretty decent I'm probably gonna try to check out again if they have a 7 o'clock show for a really good movie. So for $36 I got the premium chair, small popcorn that it comes with and they give you headphones to listen to the movie on. interestingly enough people sitting to the left of me in a cheaper chair and people sitting behind me somehow were carrying on conversations throughout the movie. I didn't think that was great etiquette but OK. the weather was sunny, but there definitely was a cool breeze that hit every once in a while. I would imagine as the sun went down it gets colder. they do offer blankets for sale and they looked super cozy, but I don't know how much they cost.

Having purged the "Fox" portion of their identity in 2020 as part of their acquisition by Disney (and a not so subtle swipe at Rupert Murdoch's Fox holdings,) 20th Century Studios has produced a pantheon of timeless films including, Avatar, Titanic, Sound of Music, Alien, Die Hard and Star Wars to offer only a partial list. Disney's goal at this point is to focus on tentpole franchises such as the interminable Star Wars brand and theatrical, sequel-friendly content such as Deadpool and Planet of the Apes while churning out less expensive filler for their Disney+ and Hulu streamers that can easily be translated into theme park attractions.
