Great place to see Devil Wears Prada 2. I do like this location in Kips Bay. I notice more serious movie goers here which means less people on their phone the whole time with high screen brightness (ahem AMC on 84th st). Only annoyance this time was we were told to go upstairs for snacks, but when we went downstairs the downstairs concessions were open. Ah well. Comfy recliner seats.

Tech issue- No audio, pitch black screen during BTS movie

My friends and I bought tickets to the BTS Tokyo concert movie, which was extremely limited (two showings only). This is the first time BTS has performed together as a group in nearly 5 years due to their hiatus. So naturally the showings were sold out and fans are anticipating this concert. During the concert, there were several minor audio and video glitches I noticed but didn't think it was a big deal enough to complain. However, as soon as the artists began to give their end of show speeches, the screen went fully black and there was no sound. My friend went to alert staff and was told a manager would come fix it. NO ONE CAME TO EVEN CHECK. The entire theater sat in the dark confused and upset for 15 minutes, while the video glitched again showing 2 seconds before cutting off again- which spoiled the surprise encore performance, that we didn't even get to see! We missed at least 20 minutes of the concert because of this tech issue. Clearly the staff working the evening shift on April 18th don't care about the customers experience in a sold out movie. But then it gets worse- we all decide to leave the theater to make a complaint. The upstairs escalator was not working, then the elevator didn't work. I'm disabled and have arthritis, and it took me over 10 minutes to climb up the broken escalator which left me in a lot of pain. When I finally caught up with my friends and the crowd, one staff was just passing out free vouchers. What's the point of a voucher when this was a one-day only showing?? Everyone was upset at this point and it's already 10:30 pm so it's not like we can get a rewatch. My friend had to demand a refund because this was a higher price point ticket due to it being a limited movie, so basically they weren't openly offering refunds. What an all around horrible experience and I won't be returning to this theater.

Pretzel bites

Clean theater and friendly staff! Pretzel bites are okay but that's honestly good enough for a theater snack, that can often be quite poor in some theaters. Haven't been here in a while but I always enjoy coming here. Seats are also very comfy!

I've seen 22 movies this year thanks to AMC A-List, and at least 2/3 of them have been at AMC Kips Bay. If you live in the city, you know that trying to get opening-weekend tickets for a blockbuster at the Lincoln Square IMAX is basically an Olympic sport and unless you want to sit in the very front row and break your neck, you're usually out of luck. That's why Kips Bay is my MVP. Is the IMAX screen as "sexy" or historically massive as Lincoln Square? No. But it's still a great premium experience, and most importantly, it's actually accessible. You can usually snag a prime center seat on a Friday night without having to book three weeks in advance. The theater itself is perfectly fine. It's clean enough, the seats are comfortable, and the staff is efficient. Yes, the concessions are definitely pricey (standard NYC theater robbery), but honestly, with the value I get out of A-List, I don't mind overpaying for a popcorn once in a while to help them keep the lights on.

We came here to see Jaws and had a frustrating experience. At the front, we were told twice that the theater and seats had changed, so we went to the new location. Once the movie started, Fantastic Four came on instead. We went back to ask again, and this time someone else told us it was actually in the original theater (7). By the time we got there, the movie had just started. Over all the theater was fine but the lack of direction and the confusion that came from the staff was unprofessional. A few other patrons of the theater were also confused and someone had to leave jaws to see fantastic four and they missed the start of there movie as well.

This theater has been renovated with the big recliner seats and lots of leg room - much more comfortable. To do this, they sacrificed a lot of the seating capacity, so now many auditoriums have very few seats. The screens are decent sizes, but only few are large, and not as large as I would prefer. Even the IMAX screen seems smaller than others in town.

Nice movie theater in midtown Manhattan with theaters on the 2nd floor and in the basement. The theater was on the small side (only about 7 rows of recliners) but was very comfortable and pretty clean - although the theater staff need to clean in the crevices of the recliners which can accumulate garbage. If you're booking in one of the smaller theaters, then I definitely recommend sitting in the middle of the second to last row.

Everyone employee we interacted with was lovely and helpful. Such a stark comparison to the terrible service at AMC Lincoln Square.

Ask the Community - AMC Kips Bay 15

Does this AMC have parking?

There's street parking

Is apple pay accepted?

No. I've yet to see any AMC accept Apple Pay. In fact, 99% of the time, their machines won't even take a chip. You have to slide it the old fashioned way and sign the slip.

Is row A in the recliner right at the very front of the screen? I was looking to book a movie in theater 1, but only row A was available, and I'm worried it's too close to the screen.

It is so right up there. My neck didn't hurt afterwards but it was enough to have to recline my seat.....all the way.

Do all the theaters have reclined seating?

All except the Imax

Do the 3d theaters have recliner seats?

Yes! When I went to see the Black Panther movie in 3D, the room I was seated in had recliner seats. I am unsure if every room is set up the exact way.

It was worth the cost. The theater was very clean, and the staff was nice. I went to this movie as a last-minute solo date, and it was fun. The ticket guy at the one register was awesome. It is mostly a self-service kiosk for buying tickets. I purchased an ice cream and a bottle of water. it cost $16, but hey, I am worth it. It was a solo date. The guy who scans your ticket checks bags as well. I guess for contraband. There is a warning sign about flashing lights and water. The best part of the experience is the moving chairs. I want to see the Odyssey again.

I cannot believe our seats moved during every action scene. Only downside was this couple sitting next to us who wouldn't shut the heck up. Without giving away the movie you do need to see thunderbolts (new avengers) before seeing this Spiderman. I was happy to see one of my favorite stranger things characters in the movie. I didn't feel any mist in my seat because the boring couple next to me turned theirs off. I was so happy when the lady went to the bathroom I was able to enjoy the movie more. I recommend going to a higher level to watch the movie I was in D13 & D14. Next time I will sit further in the back because there were some scenes that I saw flashing lights in my side view. Either way it was wonderful for my first time. I don't recommend getting popcorn it will fly everywhere. Haha. While the ticket prices were high its worth it in my book. Your paying for an experience. The loud banging noises were super cool. I did notice the isle seats move a lot more than the inner seats. I think this will be the only way I will watch marvel movies from now on! The seats were clean, the floors were clean. I was pretty surprised at how clean the theather was overall. Don't come tho if you are going to be a chatter box. If you have add you might get distracted by the moving seats pop an Adderall if you need too! I can't wait to go back to experience scents to certain scenes. I'm definitely seeing doomsday at this theather. But I am gonna try to sit in row H or I so I can see more visual effects. Still not bad for my first time.

A cozy, local setting favored by filmgoers looking to catch independent, international, or curated special screenings while shopping or dining in the area." Well.. color me impressed! First off, I am a huge fan of Angelika Theater in SoHo. I have always had an enjoyable movie experience there. Well organized, spotless and an employee will announced now seating for particular film. Additionally, Angelika was a pioneer in serving coffee way back in the 90s. I also loved the Angelika Film magazine which had mini interviews of the artists in the films Angelika was showing. I had no idea Angelika took over Cinema 123. This, when I received my September perk from NY Magazine ( sigh, loving these perks!). There were 3 Angelika Cinemas I could redeem my BOGO movie ticket and free medium popcorn: SoHo, East Village and UES. My friend and I picked Heart of the Beast ( lol, non negotiable due to me being a huge Brad Pitt fan). HOTB was not playing in SoHo so we picked UES. The experience of redeeming free popcorn to the comfortable leather chair seating was outstanding. The medium popcorn was fresh and delicious! Our seats were great and I felt as if I was watching the film in my living room. The entire venue was spotless from front of house to theater to bathrooms. This..this.. this will bring me back to seeing films IRL. Shout out to all the Cinema 123 staff for being kind, courteous and professional. For now, see ya at the movies! Btw Heart of the Beast is fantastic, Brad brings it!
