For being the only chain steakhouse on north 10th st you'd think they would take pride on their…read moreservice and there food . That was the opposite of what we experienced last night . We got there at 6:40 , table for 8 5 adults 2 kids and a high chair , was told 20/25 min wait tops . There were booths available and plenty of space . 30 minutes go by I ask and was told it's going to be another 20 to 25 minute wait . Keep in mind it was my father in laws 70th birthday and he wanted to eat there . I get it I've been a server before , worked in the industry but when the hostess tells me 20/25 minutes really means 40-45 minutes I start to get upset . Was told " sir you don't have to get mad " I do when I have a. 2 year old who's been waiting for almost an hour , who's hungry and crying because u was told the wait wouldn't be that long . We finally got seated after almost an hour to wait for another 10 minutes before a waiter or anyone approached us . We ordered Sri js and waited another 10-15 minutes before they got there . Once they got there we ordered our food because we knew it would take another 30/45 minutes before it came out . I ordered another drink as did someone else from the table . It never came , nor did the extra bread we ordered . I went to the bar and upended a tab , got bread and took it back to the table . Food showed up and was bland and tasteless . So not worth the wait nor the bill . It's a shame that this location has unmotivated children working as servers and hostesses . We learned last night it's better to just buy streaks at he. And grill them ourselves . Never again . If you are the manager or the owner you should look into this . The bartender working last night was awesome I'll give y'all that !

I would def go back for both of them! I know there are more items on the menu but these two are really good! If you are in the area I def recommend stopping by, their service is good and the food is great.

Even though it said cheeseburger special, bacon cheese special would have been more correct. Burger came with lots of cheese. American, fontina and blue cheese crumbles. It had thick cut crispy bacon. Spicy Mayo and grilled onions. The burger was amazing!! On par with the quality of the Antler Burger. It was seasoned perfectly. The patty was juicy, crispy on the edges and well seasoned. The cheese was melty and oozed out of the burger creating your own cheese fries. The fries by the way were significantly improved over the bland ones I had previously. This time they were seasoned with a few spices and given and extra coating to make them super crispy. Much better. Again, I can't reiterate how good the burgers at Sendero are. The other items on the menu sound so good and I would love to try them but when a burger is this good. You get the burger.

I was getting a sirloin and asparagus for my 89 year old Dad who was in the hospital. He likes his steak rare. Has never been a problem before. But it was this time. When I got to the hospital and pulled out the dinner, I was shocked. They didn't sear the outside so it had that "it's been boiled" gray look. Then the knife they provide broke trying to cut it. Previous steaks haven't had that problem. We gave up and he just ate the asparagus. I took it back and as soon as I walked back in with the bag, the guy manning the steaming cooking just leaned back, shook his head, and I knew he wasn't going to recook it correctly. I asked for a manager and was told he has too busy. Seriously? Yea. I'll skip this location In the future.

Review of Main Street Steakhouse -- 920 N Main St Suite 100, McAllen, TX 78501…read more Walking into Main Street Steakhouse, my hopes were set pretty high. The atmosphere was upscale, cozy, and inviting--exactly what you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse. I started with a dirty martini, which was actually quite good, though I was surprised they didn't have Kettle One or Chopin vodka available, and they didn't offer blue cheese olives. Not a deal breaker, but a bit unexpected given the overall ambiance. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartare. Unfortunately, it had a noticeably fishy taste, to the point that I stopped eating after just a couple of bites. Hoping the main course would redeem things, I went with the surf and turf. Visually, the plate looked decent, but that's where the positives ended. The steak was tough and rubbery--difficult to even cut, let alone chew--and the lobster tail was overcooked and dry. Both were inedible after a single bite. The manager did come over and apologize, offering us a complimentary crème brûlée to make up for it. Sadly, that too was a letdown: undercooked, runny, and lacking the crisp top you'd expect from a proper crème brûlée. When the manager returned, he admitted he had tried to cut into my steak himself and couldn't get through it either--so it wasn't just me. At that point, I was ready to chalk it up to an off night and consider giving them another shot sometime. But then the bill came--it ended up being a little over $180 including a decent tip--and to my surprise, the inedible main course hadn't been comped. That was the final disappointment. If the manager himself couldn't cut the steak and acknowledged the issue, how do you not remove it from the bill? I genuinely wanted to like this place. The setting is promising, but they clearly need a more consistent kitchen and a management team that understands how to make things right when they go wrong. For now, I can't recommend it--and I won't be back unless some serious changes are made. Rating: 1/5

This time, it was the first option that was recommended, which certainly got my attention. When I walked in, it was obvious that there is a renewal happening here - the restautant itself is getting quite a nice makeover, but while I love a nice ambiance, you can't eat the atmosphere. That said, I love the fact that even though there is lots of great energy in such a lovely space, I could still hear the people across the table. The true test of course is the food. I'd rather have a great meal in a dive bar than so-so food in an elegant room. The good news is that I did not have to choose. I don't know what the food was like before, but clearly what is happening on the plate has been elevated well above "okay, but nothing special". As usual when I travel, I dined with a group. While I very much enjoy the company of others, I also like being able to try taste more dishes, especially when I go somewhere for the first time. That allowed me to swoon over the hamachi crudo, crab cake (a favorite in general), lobster tail (very creative), the bacon mac & cheese, the king salmon, and the carrot cake (another favoriote). I don't love red meat, but my friends were just as effusive about the steaks. There's a real vibe to this place - a pride in the food, the place, and the experience. Go (or go back)!
