I arrived a little after 3pm and there were just a few people inside. I was waited on pretty quickly, I think the waiter was just waiting to see where I settled. My waiter Aaron was friendly and attentive, and *tried to suggest something. The problem was, there were too many things I wanted to try! I settled on the fried oysters with a side of cajun fries. The oysters had a delicious seasoning and were well cooked. My only complaint was I felt they had too much breading to appreciate the oyster inside. Again, the breading was delicious - just too much. You get about 10 oysters. The fries were well seasoned as well, and quite plentiful. For dessert I had the caramel banana pie. It looked delicious, but for me, it was just too over the top. For the expense, I certainly would not order again. Speaking of "expense", this place is more in the "medium" price range and not something I would go to on a regular basis for lunch. It was good, and definitely maybe more of a dinner spot. Nice change of pace kind of place!

We have tried a variety of menu items and they have all been great! Poor boy (fish or oysters), tacos, shrimp étouffée, and more. The wings are the best, especially with the special! The service is good, however there are very few wait staff, if you go on Tuesday or Wednesday, expect to wait a bit more.

The TV's has some sort of football game. Idk. I don't follow football lol Overall I would come back and also recommend this place. Side note: they have bison burgers and alligator bites if you're interested.

A short 3 mile drive and GPS took us directly to the parking lot for "Clayton's" (NOT bar Louie). We pulled in, asked about Bar Louie, and were directed to the Courtyard by Marriott (bar Louie inside...a fact that is barely mentioned in all SM). Asked if we could park, "sure for $20!" We exited the lot, made a U Turn in Friday night SPI traffic and went next door to Courtyard. Parking lot full, no parking attendants anywhere, no ability to valet, AND no signage about BL. So we returned to Clayton's, paid $20, and walked up the ramp for Clayton's. No signs for Bar Louie anywhere that we could see. As we approached the beach, we saw "Mariluna's" which appeared to be a bar and restaurant at the rear of The Courtyard. Asked a security officer at Clayton's about Bar Louie, and he said "it's right there", pointing directly at Mariluna's. I confirmed his statement by saying "that's bar Louie?" (pointing at Mariluna's) He confirmed! I thought "Did BL take over Mariluna's without changing the signage". Starving and thirsty, we continued walking. Observing employees with "Mariluna's shirts inside the Mariluna's building, told me we were NOT at bar Louie. Still ...no signage anywhere pointing the way to our destination. We decided to walk toward the hotel. This is where we saw a small sign (first picture in post) showing the way to BL. Finally got seated, server took drink and food order. Food arrived and we received a grilled chicken sandwich instead of the grilled cheese sandwich we actually ordered. Easy mistake, Server corrected. Food was acceptable with the exception of the seafood gumbo, which, as a featured dish definitely calls for revisiting the current recipe). Restaurant was virtually empty. Our discussion returned to the difficulty we'd just experienced trying to find, park, and navigate our way from Clayton's to BL. The sparseness of customers became obvious to us. NO ONE CAN FIND THE FRIGGIN PLACE!! Finally, we speculated that either Marriott doesn't need BL to be profitable / successful, or the employees don't need the tips and are averse to making money. Based on our experience...Courtyard and BL are doing a great job keeping the location of bar Louie / SPI a secret from travelers to SPI.

Wanted to really like this place, but it didn't go well unfortunately…read more Menu has a lot to offer and some of their prices are a little steep. Browsed the menu & ended up just getting their "tossed salad". I asked what was on it which was; sliced tomato, shredded carrot, red onion & cucumber. Opted out of the cucumber & requested two blue cheese dressings. My husband ordered their cheeseburger dressed with pepper jack cheese. My salad arrived fairly quickly & it was on a flat plate with a weak portion for $7.75. The two dressings were in taco cups over flowing with a hefty amount of fresh blue cheese crumbles packed on top. Super disappointed with not only the presentation, the cost & never being asked if I wanted my salad prior or when my husband received his meal. I ended up pushing it to the side & was waiting for our waitress to return to not only ask if my husband would like another beer, but to also provide the option of not eating that ridiculous amount of rabbit food-getting a refund OR to bring out more lettuce & ask to please just bring out standard blue cheese dressing without the added amount of crumbled cheese. We don't see our server for sometime, so I went to the hostess asking if she were also the manager which she stated she wasn't & that they were at the bar. That's when our server came up behind me & asked if there was a problem. I explained the situation to her, then she tells me that this dressing is always served this way and that, that is what blue cheese dressing is! She seemed confused about the crumbles & was almost trying to mock me. I've worked in the food industry & know how these product come into the restaurants. Blue cheese dressing does have blue cheese "chucks" within the original recipe. If you are doing things differently then that, it should stand out more on their menu as "homemade" and again expressed by the server, but she made it as if I were just suppose to know their process. It's salad dressing, it shouldn't be this difficult! LOL After this fiasco, they brought more salad and a watered down milky dressing that had zero flavor and zero cheese along with sliced cucumber?! The consistency was like milk. It was running, bland, NO blended cheese in the base-it definitely wasn't blue cheese dressing! WT?! This ALL transpired while my husband was still waiting on his burger & fries . About another 15 minutes goes by, I finally had to just start in on the bland salad. My husband's beer still sat empty & was never told when his burger would be served the few times are server swung by regarding my order issues. 20 minutes later, she comes by again & he was asked if it was cheddar cheese & he said, "no it was pepper jack". A total of 30 minutes he waited for a very rare burger, cold fries & FINALLY another beer! Terrible service and food wasn't very good either.

Walking in my son was like this has a great vibe, it's going to be so good! Walking out he said... well we got tricked. We ordered raw oysters, they were super gritty I had to pick sand and stuff out of my mouth, I gave up after the second one. Clam chowder was like white water with seasoning on top. It had zero flavor and was so watery. Luckily our server had just brought us a sample so we didn't lost any money, just said no thank you, but thank you for the sample. Dinner we had kids chicken which was a thin tender that was over fried so more like rubber. The kids shrimp was alright, I would for sure do that over the kids chicken, but they didn't get finished either. The hush puppies were also over fried, I was so excited to try them but the outside and most of the inside was just pure grease fry and just a tiny spot in the middle was still breading, I've literally never seen a hush puppy like it. I was so sad lol. I had a side of blackened shrimp that had good flavor but the shrimp were over cooked and again sort of rubbery. My son had the shrimp poboy, there was no sauce on it, sandwich was so dry he ended up picking off the shrimp and eating them alone. He did not care for the bread they used either which surprised me because he is a carbaholic with a bread obsession. I should have looked at photos before ordering the onion rings. I'm sure some people love the thick cut so it's a total preference thing but the for us no one cared for them. It was cool to see them we were all like whoah! But after 1-2 bites each we were all like meh. The onion slices inside was like eating an apple, they were so thick and now possibly under fried so was like eating a breaded raw onion. After tip I think we spent $140 and I was just disgusted. We've been to the island maybe 6 times and this was by far the worst meal we've had. I was so sad we "wasted" a meal on our trip, there are so many places to eat here. We've driven by the spot for 3-4 years and always wanted to try so what a disappoint. 1 star for food, 5 stars for service, so a 2 star review.
