Compared to a restaurant where you typically have to have a food minimum, at Nest you only have to play a flat fee. The staff come out and help you with load in and set up, then they take care of clean up. From the moment I reached out with interest, Michael was amazing. He was very thorough in his explanation of all of the offerings, and when I actually needed to change my date he was flexible. Day of, Michael came out to also help us with set up. The space was absolutely beautiful and really doesn't need much additional help in terms of decoration. It was sufficient amount of space for the amount of people we had, plus there was space to put out the food, as well as a fridge for our drinks. They really had everything we needed. One thing I will make note is that this space is in the heart of downtown. When there are festivals in DTR, Fayetteville street is closed, which may confuse some of your older party guests. It ended up being fine because there was still plenty of parking and then our guests got to attend a street festival after the early morning party, but just something to be aware of. Overall, I will be recommending Nest to anyone who is looking for a meeting/party/event space rec.

A friend of mine's boyfriend was the DJ for a Trap and paint event that I attended here. The space seems nice and I reviewed the rates online and it seems affordable. I would recommend this space if a friend or family member is looking for a space to use. No complaints about this particular event I attended. It's right on Fayetteville St where the parking is easier.

The Luxe Experience Event Venue

Unfortunately, my experience with The Luxe Experience has been extremely disappointing…read more I booked & paid-in full for a venue for an upcoming event based on the original location that was presented & agreed upon. I was later informed that the venue location had changed to Zebulon, which would've created a major inconvenience not only for me, but also for my guests & vendors who had already made arrangements based on the original location. Because the new location no longer worked for my event, I requested a refund. I was told that my refund would be processed & I later received an email explaining that refunds were being issued according to event dates & that once processed, funds would take 7-10 business days to arrive. It has been TWO months since said refund email & unfortunately, I still have not received my refund. What is even more frustrating is the lack of communication. My emails & text messages requesting an update have gone unanswered. I completely understand that businesses can experience unexpected changes & delays. However, when a business agrees to issue a refund, there should be clear communication & timely follow-through. At this point, I simply want the refund that I was promised. I would be happy to update my review once this matter is resolved, but the lack of response & the continued delay in receiving my money have made this an extremely frustrating experience.

One week before our celebration was to take place, we found out the original location was no longer available and would have to could go to the new location in Zebulon. We came back and advised that the new location would not work for us and requested a refund. We were told we will get a refund and it would take 7-10 business days. Mind you we had to find a new location in a hurry and fournately we found one and had a wonderful time. I sent emails and tried to call and could not and did not get an answer until today(Oct 5), two months after our celebration and we will receive our refund via cashier check. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for an event space for rent. We have been extremely disappointed with his establishment.

Planning couldn't have been easier- our coordinator was very easy to reach and always quick with an answer with any questions we had. The venue is charming and the roof top view is stunning. We chose to have a "Before They Say I Do BBQ" and the deck provided a nice space to set up stations for our caterer. The list of vendors provided by Empire Eats made providing linens and any items needed easy to set up. The only suggestions we would offer is know in advance that this is the top floor of The Stockroom. If there are 2 events scheduled, you'll be sharing the only elevator with the other venue. Loading and unloading prior and after the event can be a bit tricky. There is no designated area loading zone. Be sure to ask in advance for a cart and it will be provided. Also, if you're having a summer event, know that it can be very hot. When the door to the deck is open, it compromises the A/C and it can be a tad bit warm.

The extra secret, private room is located upstairs in The Big Easy, down a back hallway through an ominous door labeled "staff only". This isn't a space that you can just walk into (now that you know where it's located), rather it's a private venue space, charging $300/6 hours on Fridays and Saturdays with a $500 minimum bar tab and $100/6 hours Sunday-Thursday with a $300 minimum bar tab. The small space includes a New Orleans voodoo theme complete with voodoo dolls and bare breasted fortune tellers (in photos). Your party is invited to enjoy the velvet couches and hairs artfully placed around the room and has access to a private bar (and bartender). I love the back wall, with photo windows viewing Salisbury Street and a huge wooden bench seat. Rebecca and her husband Steve, the owners of The Big Easy, created this space to throw a rocking New Years Eve party, and they're inviting locals to use it during the year. Rebecca hired a fortune teller for our VIP night, but options are practically unlimited for what you want to bring in (bachelorette party strippers?!) The room is pricy to rent, but the intention is to get in a "classier" group of people that will keep the space up (however, there's definitely room for a dance party in the room, think old Bee Hive tightness). The best part: that VIP feeling as you are personally led up to the room by a manager, it was VERY speakeasy and secretive!

Extended Version: I was married at The Carolina Inn in May and I had the absolute privilege of working with Gina from A Southern Soiree. When you book a ceremony at The Carolina Inn, they include day-of coordination with one of the area wedding planning companies as a part of the package (amazing deal - everyone should get married at The Carolina Inn). Having seen A Southern Soiree in TONS of blogs and websites, I asked right away if I could work with them for my wedding. I ended up working with Gina, and based on my contract with the venue, assumed that we would just meet a couple of times to cover the basics and that Gina would primarily just be there to support the actual wedding day. I could not have been more wrong, in all the right ways! Gina was an absolute dream to work with and well exceeded my expectations throughout the wedding planning vision. She helped so much throughout the planning process. She was also professional, quick to respond to emails, had great ideas for my wedding day, and has such a great personality - I had so much fun at all of our meetings! When the day of the rehearsal dinner came, I had everything packed in my car and drove over to the venue, starting to feel overwhelmed with pre-wedding stress. As soon as I parked my car at the valet, Gina and her assistant were there coordinating getting my car unloaded. I gave Gina a rundown on what I had in all the boxes and where it needed to go, and she took over from there. There was no stressing out about setting out favors, making sure programs made it to the ceremony, etc. because Gina had it 100% taken care of. At the rehearsal dinner I was feeling overwhelmed, and Gina's assistant stood there with a glass of water for me the whole time just in case I needed it. They wanted to do whatever they could to make sure they day was stress free and that everything was wonderful. Gina and her assistant were like magical wedding planning fairies the day of the wedding making sure that everything was executed flawlessly. Before the wedding, people told me to mentally prepare myself for "something" going wrong, but when the wedding day came...nothing went wrong. Literally, everything was perfect, and I'm sure it was because I was so fortunate to have A Southern Soiree there to cover all the details. Even my father-in-law the day after the wedding could NOT stop talking about how amazing Gina and her assistant were. He was still in a state of disbelief over how they were able to pull everything off so perfectly. You can't go wrong choosing them as your event planning company and I would definitely recommend them to all of my friends and family.

It's got modern, slightly rustic vibes, lit brightly for the art gallery in the back room. They have a nice bubbles by the glass selection (4 options, including a Lambrusco), which is really impressive since so many wine bars give you one, two at most. Vegan options on the menu include hummus, olives and pickles. I was planning to eat there, but time got away from me and they do a strict closing time, so maybe next time.
