Compared to a restaurant where you typically have to have a food minimum, at Nest you only have to play a flat fee. The staff come out and help you with load in and set up, then they take care of clean up. From the moment I reached out with interest, Michael was amazing. He was very thorough in his explanation of all of the offerings, and when I actually needed to change my date he was flexible. Day of, Michael came out to also help us with set up. The space was absolutely beautiful and really doesn't need much additional help in terms of decoration. It was sufficient amount of space for the amount of people we had, plus there was space to put out the food, as well as a fridge for our drinks. They really had everything we needed. One thing I will make note is that this space is in the heart of downtown. When there are festivals in DTR, Fayetteville street is closed, which may confuse some of your older party guests. It ended up being fine because there was still plenty of parking and then our guests got to attend a street festival after the early morning party, but just something to be aware of. Overall, I will be recommending Nest to anyone who is looking for a meeting/party/event space rec.

A friend of mine's boyfriend was the DJ for a Trap and paint event that I attended here. The space seems nice and I reviewed the rates online and it seems affordable. I would recommend this space if a friend or family member is looking for a space to use. No complaints about this particular event I attended. It's right on Fayetteville St where the parking is easier.

The extra secret, private room is located upstairs in The Big Easy, down a back hallway through an ominous door labeled "staff only". This isn't a space that you can just walk into (now that you know where it's located), rather it's a private venue space, charging $300/6 hours on Fridays and Saturdays with a $500 minimum bar tab and $100/6 hours Sunday-Thursday with a $300 minimum bar tab. The small space includes a New Orleans voodoo theme complete with voodoo dolls and bare breasted fortune tellers (in photos). Your party is invited to enjoy the velvet couches and hairs artfully placed around the room and has access to a private bar (and bartender). I love the back wall, with photo windows viewing Salisbury Street and a huge wooden bench seat. Rebecca and her husband Steve, the owners of The Big Easy, created this space to throw a rocking New Years Eve party, and they're inviting locals to use it during the year. Rebecca hired a fortune teller for our VIP night, but options are practically unlimited for what you want to bring in (bachelorette party strippers?!) The room is pricy to rent, but the intention is to get in a "classier" group of people that will keep the space up (however, there's definitely room for a dance party in the room, think old Bee Hive tightness). The best part: that VIP feeling as you are personally led up to the room by a manager, it was VERY speakeasy and secretive!

Bridge Club is tastefully decorated with the vibe of a luxury early-20th century apartment but without all the kitch and clutter. The space is airy, light, gorgeous, sleek - with warm woods, soaring ceilings, and a to-die-for-kitchen placed inside the dining space. Dining is appetizers and other packages put together by the Death & Taxes crew. At this point, you should know that Ashley Christensen has been around the block enough times and gone through enough crews to be able to put out a consistently excellent dining experience no matter who is behind the stove. And that's what you want - the no-excuses, every-detailed-looked-after, no-chance-for-an-off-night experience - whether it is the important work dinner, the wedding, or whatever you special night is. Food was absolutely fantastic from top to bottom. And I have dined at Death & Taxes enough to know that the menu changes enough that nothing can be counted on to be there again - but new things are great. Nicely done, Ashley.

There was a bar and appetizer lounge on one floor, the kitchen on another, and the restaurant at the top. The concept great, until you had to go down several flights of stairs to get back to the restrooms. The restaurant was cold and drafty. We were freezing the entire time. The food was served family style (because of the conference I think). The meat was too salty. The rest of the food was unspectacular and lacking a pizzazz. We had a lemon tart for dessert, the shell was so hard all you could do was scoop out the tart lemon custard. Needless to say, my co-worker and I booked it out of there as fast as we could.

The centerpiece of the house's interior is a rotunda supported by four Corinthian columns and lit by a stained glass window located on the roof. Walking into the foyer you cant help but embrace the timeless grace, where every corner whispers of history and a bygone era. There is a quiet serenity to the space, as if time slows just a little bit inside. The modern touch added to the old renovated mansion does come with a bit of a sharp, sterile elegance of a modern mansion. The Parlor is a great place to enjoy a delicious craft cocktail and even better, ADULTS ONLY! There are also many other lovely seating arrangements throughout the property, including outdoors, and a few even come with fire pits. Regardless of your intentions for visiting the Heights House, I am quite confident there will be no disappointments, unless they have a private event. Cheers!

Everything is lovely and though it is all modern and sleek, it still feels fitting for the original era of the house. The cocktail area takes up most of the main floor, with a stand-up bar just off the entryway with a few tables and then a larger lounging area with sofas and chairs just beyond. The drinks are exceptionally good, and the spirits menu is creative. They also offer a few small plates. There is plenty of paved parking immediately next to the hotel for guests only, so that is not a hassle as it can be at some B&B/inn-type establishments. At check-in, you are offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to set the tone. The rooms are comfortable, but I will say that the entry-level ones are quite small (which is apparent on the website), but for the rates charged there isn't even a place to sit and read a book other than the bed. There's one small, delicate wicker chair that would be for tying shoes or whatever, but not lounging. The bed is luxuriously dressed, and there is drawer space and a minifridge, but no closet -- hanging items can go on hooks by the door out in the open. The bathroom is spacious enough, with a broad sink and elegant tilework. The lighting fixtures throughout are nifty. I found the breakfast sort of average for this type of place. I came later on, so perhaps there is more earlier, but there were a few pastries, some hard-boiled eggs, and fruit when I arrived. There's also a fancy coffee-drink contraption, but those aren't my thing so I left that alone. It's a very easy walk across the Boylan Bridge and down a couple of blocks to the area of the Dillon with several restaurants, and the performing arts center is not far beyond that. Location-wise, there's plenty that's walkable but also more an easy drive away.
