This store has a nice ambiance with wide aisles and it is easy enough to find things. It has a decently wide variety. There were some really good sales, especially for produce and fish and for prime members. There were a few team members there but I didn't have to interact with them so I can't speak to service, but did enjoy the check out process where I didn't have to speak to anyone and got to scan a code and walk out. However, the prices on most items were very high and I wouldn't routinely shop here for anything other than sale items. read more

I think the store has gotten better in one regard. Alcohol is no longer kept in area guarded by a staffer who requires you to show ID to enter. It still needs to work on a couple of things like all staff being courteous and having more than one check-out open. and that only took cash, not credit cards. I visit this store fairly often (online returns and/or food). On 9/19/25, I visited around 6:00 pm and I had to use the self-checkout as the one staffer checkout opening did not take credit card. I struggled to enter my phone number and felt eyes of staff on me as one came over. I am fine with courteous help, but if Amazon has no one available to ring up, why do they have people available to do so. On 9/19 around 6:00 pm, I informed a staffer who had been watching me that a receipt did not print from my self checkout transaction. Her immediate response was to laugh at me. I said to her: "that is not funny" and she did not deny laughing and that the way I said it was funny. That was terrible customer service and not nice. Just because Amazon is an enormous entity does not mean that a store employee can be disrespectful to the general customer. read more

First time here. Won't be coming back. There was only one person at the register to begin, but I didn't mind. But then they opened up another register 5 minutes later. One of the workers in an Amazon Fresh uniform who was behind me cut in front of me as soon as the other register opened. They looked back and glared at me. I'm in customer service too and thought this was rude, especially from someone who works there. Then everyone followed him and cut in front of me. Then a third lady opened her register and started to call people over who were in the very back of the line, even though I had been waiting for 10 minutes already and they just got in line. Got a coupon in the mail and have heard a lot about the Amazon Fresh stores so we figured we would check it out. Wasn't too busy when we came in on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty easy to get since they lay out the instructions. You can scan the in store code on your Amazon app, scan your thumb (or palm?), or check out normally with a cashier. We opted to scan our app QR code so we could just walk out when we finished. There are hundreds of cameras around the store tracking what you pick up and put back so it can be pretty convenient since you don't even have to scan things yourself. When you're ready to go you can just scan your app again ( any coupons first) then walk out. There were a few negatives about the experience though. There were a lot of empty shelves/bins when we went so there was a lot of things we couldn't pick up on our usual grocery run. I didn't get a receipt until about almost 5 hours later which I found that we got charged for something we didn't pick up. Luckily we got a refund pretty easily but it looks like there could be some issues with the walk out process. I might come back sometime in the future but i'll let them work out the issues first. read more

This was my first trip to the store and I was impressed. It was like shopping on the Amazon app but in person. The prices are average prices. The store was extra clean. The different variety of foods was refreshing. Service was quick and easy. When you walk in, you have the option to scan in in order to activate your prime membership, or enter in the traditional way. Check out was fast. You scan your code which is in the app and you can use your card in file in the app. I will return! read more

There are so many great grocery store options in the area so don't waste your time here. Limited options, produce isn't always fresh, limited employees for assistance, and not really a fan personally of the nontraditional checkout. I can see why some people might, but it doesn't draw me to the store. The store also feels very much like a warehouse and doesn't make you really want to stay and shop. I probably won't come here unless I need to return a package to Amazon. read more

Pretty shitty grocery store with very limited selection, poor customer service, terrible deli / hot bar. Got food poisoning from their salad bar. The one benefit is returning Amazon purchases you don't want anymore. Also driving into the parking lot is a nightmare. In fact, if you took a poll, most would take Shoppers (that was there before) over Amazon! The selection is poor! The shelves are often bare! The service sucks. Don't get me started on this camera shopping! Each time, I've been over charged/or charged for items I didn't receive! I simply drive to Wegmans, or go to Food Lion! I get why there are so many low reviews, yet, many of those reasons don't bother me. I setup the Amazon One account so I walk in, chose my items and walk out in under 15 mins. Zero interaction with staff. It's setup much like Whole Foods so the items are easy to find and fresh. This is one where you really have to go yourself and make your own judgement. I think the worse part is if you don't know or under and the technology of the store, you just walk in confused--if you can even get passed the gate. Hot and salad bar is advertised to be open until 8. I rush to get there by 7 and it's always put away by then and customer service is bad. If you want to order something though they are supposed to serve until 8 - if it's after 7, they won't help you out. Beautiful store. Frustrating service read more

Honestly I don't even know why they chose an Amazon store to replace the shoppers that was here. As soon as you walk in the energy is just blah. I don't get get excited to walk in there. It's always cold and lightening is a little dim to me. The selection in my opinion is not the best and even the Amazon store branded items are more expensive than the food lion down the street. Without coupon, the price r high. Also, a lot of common stuff cannot be found here. The variety is not enough to shop here. The discount price doesn't reflect on the computer and no one knows how to fix it. The self check out always needed to call in to fix the price. No way to contact your local Amazon Fresh Stores. I tried and failed. On the rare occasion that you may need to. The 1800 number is answered by people who are disinterested in doing their job. I've received responses like I don't know to I am in a different country so how do I know if the Lorton VA store has opened. Wow. As to the stores- standard setup, several item prices were more than Whole Foods. No major complaints except didn't know how much I was paying for and there was an issue with being overcharged that I had to follow up to resolve. Looks like others had the same issue. On Friday afternoon Dec.09.22, at Lorton, VA22079 store location. was trying to return an Item. Customer service, I couldn't get his name right, but it starts with letters Ja... said that I should have the receipt to get even store credit after giving him the credit card that we bought the item with. I asked him if he can call for me the manager hoping he can do something about it, but I think he got offended started become little rude and said to me wait on side there with angry face and no even please :{ . was expecting that he will call the manager by radio, but he walked to the manager's office about 10 minutes later they came together a black man named Mr. Festus said " I m the Manager" before I finish explaining the issue he cut me off and starts saying exactly what the previous customer service Mr. Ja was saying, I was shocked not because of the policy, but you know now, how good friends they are, but not how good business they should have approved . The concept of this place is cool but lately I've been completely overcharged for items I never grabbed. More recently I got charged 270 extra dollars for a bottle of champagne I didn't buy and had to call customer service to get a refund. I support my local independent grocery stores and smaller markets. If i do need a big store i much prefer Harris Teeter, the fruit & vegetable section always well stocked with flavorful produce, their fresh food bars and bakery are much tastier than Amazon. There is always helpful staff available the shelves are always full. At the Kalorama Harris Teeter parking is a breeze! I even prefer Costco to Amazon. Personally i prefer having persons that recognize me rather than being ignored and tracked by machines which i find invasive. read more

Meh - I went to the Amazon Fresh that opened in Lorton this past week. I went early on a Sunday morning, hoping to avoid the grand opening crowds. This is what I found: There were plenty of attendants helping those that wanted to scan in and out and avoid the crowd. Problem, most were young and assumed everyone knew how to navigate their QR scanning process. They helped me get the QR code on my app, and told me to scan to get in. I got there and still was uncertain how to scan. (I've never used my phone as a wallet). The other issue I ran into repeatedly were the employee shoppers for the online orders. I couldn't find my phone, but someone will be along soon with a pick showing multiple online shoppers completely blocking isles with oversized rolling carts. I found the store to be dark - maybe that's just me. Many shelves are empty or not stocked, but that I am sure is due to the same issues stores everywhere are experiencing. My main complaint is I just got home and have no idea how much I spent! It would have been helpful to know where I could find my receipt or if there was a way to watch my tally as I shop. (Wegman's app has you scan as you go with a tally as you go). On the plus side, large selection of organic and gluten-free foods. The staff was eager to assist when I ignored the Ask Alexa stations throughout the store. I'm a big Amazon fan, but will be giving Fresh a pass for now. For groceries, for now, Wegmans will continue to be my story of choice. read more

It's only about a mile and a half from where I live so I was excited but I find out that I can't buy a lot of stuff here because they don't stock things enough so that they don't run out. so now I wasted my time and I'm gonna go to a giant or Food Lion just to buy basic things. I was pleased by the general selection of grocery store items available here. The pet food, treat, snack, and kitty litter selection, however, left much to be desired. I've been to three different stores this week and I have to say that Aldi is absolutely the lowest price around. Amazon Fresh seems to be comparable to the Food Lion just two stops down the road. But, if you're hopping off the freeway and need to grab something, it is convenient. I still haven't received my receipt yet, so that's a little disconcerting (left about 30 minutes ago). read more

Really easy to use, just scanned my phone QR code from the Amazon app! I received my receipt in about 20 mins and they had all the correct items on there. Took off one star just because the options and variety were definitely more limited than what you would find at wegmans or giant. Overall great store, very clean, and the workers were helpful! The Amazon Fresh store opened today and I thought I would see what the hype was all about. So I went to the store and reviewed each isle from left to right. My review is based on the store that was there before and the other grocery stores in the area. First I'm not impress with the store. It's like between a Food Lion and a Super Giant. The store is very simple with low stock of items on the shelf's. What I mean is that who ever did the market research for the Lorton area did a bad job. Most items I would shop for are not there. I think they catered to the upper mid and not to the real people that live in the area. There is a big mix of demographics in the area and the store didn't meet it. Even though that the veggies and fruits are some what low, other items makes u for it in price. Are you really getting a deal???? No. Costco, Shoppers meats are lower. They do not have a meat shop that cuts meats. All prepackaged and they have a very limited fresh fish counter. For the most part if you are close and need something quick, 90% chances they have it. Coffee selection is very limited. Most high test and little Decaf for those people that can only drink it. For the most part as I mentioned this is a experiment that I think won't last due to their market research was wrong. For me I will still drive down the road to one of the last remaining Shoppers Food Warehouse off of route 1 and get my food. I know the store is new but again what was there before and what is there now? I would take the old instead of the new because they had more. But if you are young to middle aged this store is right up your alley. All the micro brew beers and stuff you are used to. I will the store only if i need something real bad because it's close but I will be taking a chance if it's there. Last this is my opinion and you will have to make your own. Just visited for the first time for a return and a few groceries. No one at the return counter, the employee was at the back on his phone and had to get his attention. Multiple employees at the check out lanes but was rudely signaled that the one I went to was closed by the employee pointing at a different lane. At the different lane, the employee checking me out did not say a word the whole time. Super rude vibes and was literally so confused with everything about my visit. I have loved Amazon and Amazon Fresh for many years. They both have excellent customer service Since I recently moved to a third floor apartment, it has been great to groceries delivered with no service fee, just an optional tip for the delivery person which I am happy to include. It is all done online on the Amazon website or on their App. I highly recommend Amazon Fresh! read more

I waited a month or so and went back to the store a few times before posting a negative review as I thought it was just teething pains. This is possibly the worst food store in Lorton, and that is not a high bar to meet as the others are not very good. When you enter it smells, kind of like old fish but that is strange as they have limited fish. Shelves are half empty - isn't Amazon famous for their supply chain expertise? I spent half hour ahead of going to the store to make a list on their app, but ended up finding only about 1/3 of the items. They do not have the items advertised on sale which wastes a lot of time and is very annoying. The bag as you go and automatic check out using your amazon account is convenient, but I still have not received my receipt after 4 hours. We were curious to see whether the auto pricing approach was correct but we wanted to check as we unbagged the groceries. Not possible if the receipt is so delayed. We also took home pizzas to try which seemed to be a great value and could have been very good, but they were undercooked and stuck to the box. I needed to pry the pieces off and then recook them in my oven. As others note, meats are not that good and variety is lacking. Wanted to buy a larger piece for London broil but not possible. No bunches of bananas, just individual brown ones. Milk was a good value and several Amazon brand items as well, but in my view I could never do a big family shopping trip here, or count on finding all ingredients needed to make a particular meal. So I guess hit or miss. We did also return an Amazon item here and it was very easy and convenient, so that was helpful. read more
