I needed some specific items for a baking project. This place came up as the closest baking supply location. I was a little hesitant since some of the reviews are very negative! But I found the staff very helpful and they had what I needed and then some! I found cute cookie cutters that retail for much more on Amazon. I also found tons of boxes and displays for baked treats! This was a first time visit for us, recommended by Moeller's Bakery down the street. Amazing was amazing! They printed out some edible cookie logos for us to put on our sugar cookies for our favorite radio station (KPFT 90.1) that is celebrating their 55th anniversary this year. They explained the whole process of how to put them on worked with us to get the perfect size logo. Sally was the lead person for us, but the whole staff worked with us well. I have a side gig of making cakes, so I frequent Amazing cake supply store. It is a one stop shop for all things baking related. They have a limit of people allowed in the store at one time, so I've had to wait outside a couple of times. This doesn't really bother me, though, I appreciate they are being cautious. I have bought items I need and probably more items that I just wanted from here. They have a huge assortment of boxes for all cake sizes. They also have an entire aisle of cake drums in all kinds of sizes and materials. From cardboard to plastic, they've got it. Another thing I always come here for is the gel food coloring and the dust/edible glitter. They have them in all kinds of colors and shades, some you didn't even know you needed until you saw them. Made a special trip to check this place out and made it by 6 pm on Friday but we're turned away by the workers who said they close at 6 PM even though their web site says 6:30pm. Pretty sure we would have found some items we needed and made a purchase but will never know now because we won't be going back. They either need to update their info online or they need to keep the store open the hours stated. I dropped by this week after a run to the nearby Make-A-Cake store for some supplies, and yes, Amazing Cake Supplies had what I needed in terms of materials, but I was really turned off by their service. :( One of the ladies at the front seemed like being at the counter was the last thing she wanted to do, much less help me with some questions. I felt like she was mentally throwing stones at me, but maybe she was just having a bad day since she was coughing everywhere (get better soon!)~ ^^' Bad things aside, walking around here is a lot of fun! Looks like they expanded. Decorating supplies, tubs of frosting, packaging, gadgets and pans that you'll never really need but will end up buying, and it seemed like a lot of people were buying edible printouts. Amazing Cakes has a big selection, and things are in stock (compared to Make-a-Cake). The cellophane bags are stored in the back, so ask a staff member to help you out. I make cake pops and like coming here for their vast selection of sprinkles - crystals, jimmies, nonpareils, seasonal, metallic, etc. If I baked cakes too, this place is a gold mine! I found this store when I was in need to do some cake and cupcakes for my son's Eagle Scout Court of Honor reception and dinner. Oh my gosh, this place is amazing! There were plenty of people working to help anyone who needed help and they offered multiple times. I was like a kid in a candy store and went up and down the isles just looking at everything they had getting ideas for my next occasion (and seriously trying to think up or makeup other occasions which I would need to make some sort of custom baked good). Off the top of my head here is what they sell: pans, liners, boxes, frosting/food colors, decorating tips/supplies, any and every cake topper or cake decoration you can think of (yeah, the ones you see at the grocery store bakery and more), sprinkles, a multitude of cupcake liners, edible glitter, luster dust, fondant (even pre-colored), candy melts, candy forms, pre covered foil boards, etc. They can even custom print the sugar sheets that go on top of the cake for you. Checkout was a little slow but as long as it took me to shop, I didn't mind. I was able to buy some of those plastic containers they use the grocery store bakery for cupcakes (1/2 or 1 dozen) for when my teen needs cupcakes for bake sales at his school (life saver!) Don't be afraid to tell them what you are trying to do and they will give you some ideas and options. They are there to help and do it gladly. read more

I've recently gotten really into baking and had to check this place out when I came across it on yelp. From the reviews, I was expecting it to be cake supply heaven - a store jam packed with all sorts of baking supplies. However, it was quite the opposite. Maybe I came at a wrong time (Saturday), but there were a lot of empty shelves. Either they need to restock their shelves, or they're planning to close the shop for good. Who knows. Yes, they do have a ton of supplies from boxes to frostings to flavor enhancements to anything you can think of that is cake related. However, I noticed that some of the brands they carried aren't exactly considered high quality. I also noticed that their fondant and other edible supplies looked old and out of date. After perusing party supply stores that turned up low supply and high prices, I found myself frantically searching for a place to go, since I needed 120 cupcake boxes, stat. Luckily, I was able to find out about Amazing Cake Supplies, and called them ahead of my trip. They were very helpful and gave suggestions and prices during the call. Whenever my friend and I visited the store, we were amazed by the different supplies offered, ranging from containers for baked goods, baking supplies such as pans, cake decorations like cake frosting bags and tips. Wow! It seemed like restaurants sometimes come to the store to get baking supplies as well, since we saw a man in an apron rush in and rush out. They have everything in this store! Prices are much better than going to Michael's or Hobby Lobby. They have plastic cake/cupcake holders, all kinds of dyes, premade flowers or fondant decorations, and Wilton icing decorating tips that you can buy a la carte (useful if you're looking for a specific tip and aren't interested in having to get an entire set). They even have seasonal items depending on when you go (Christmas, Halloween, etc). The strip center they're in can be easy to miss though, and make sure you bring cash as they have a $10 minimum on credit card purchases. read more

I called today to ask if the store had cola flavoring in stock because it's30 miles away, I and didn't want to make a trip if they didn't have it in stock. I was told by the girl on the phone that they did have it and she even put me on hold to "verify". I left work early, drove 45 minutes out of my way, only to find out they didn't actually have it. So, apparently the girl I spoke with never actually verified it. I don't know if she just assumed that it was in stock or what, but when someone calls to verify if you have a product, it's generally so the customer does not make a wasted trip. When I got there and realized the store did not in fact carry it, the 2 employees I spoke with acted like they couldn't have cared less about it. I don't know if this is an issue with the staff being under trained, lazy, or if the store is just unorganized. Awesome supplies had exactly what I needed when other stores didn't. I know people have had issues here with the customer service but for my experience I was greeted on arrival and they asked politely if I was looking for something specific. They were also busy but treated other customers with the same polite service. As a biracial guest I didn't feel harassed there were many other guest that were also of different ethnicity's and had no bad service from what I saw. Walking into the store is any bakers dream; from the baking pans, decorations, flavors, colors etc. They have many cupcake liner designs as well. You can get them in packets with over 500 liners. It was my first time visiting the store to pick up some cupcake boxes/containers which I have recently been able to sell. There are several online sites which sell it but very few places that sell it to quickly pick it up. I was totally lost. I walked around for about 20 minutes and no one helped me. I tried to wait by one worker to get her attention that I needed help but she never paused with the one customer she was talking to. She was a little bit rude when it came to me paying at the register as well. There was a very nice woman who showed me some cool edible glitters and things I can do for my cupcakes. I was able to show her some of my work; I would love to go back and do a baking class with her. The girl who helped ring me up was helpful too. She was quick and double checked my bags to make sure I had everything. Overall, they definitely have items which you will not be able to find at your typical chain store but some items are cheaper at Michael's or any crafts store where you are able to use coupons. read more

I came in the store Friday and got a picture turned into a edible image for a cake. I ended up getting 2, ...one for a back up. When i tried to peel it from the backing, it would not come loose. I even put it in the frzer for 60 sec, and tried it again. It just tore up the pic. I tried the second one and it did the same, it started to rip on the edges. I ended up cutting the ripped part off and putting the paper and all on the cake, and decorating around it.. It was very embarrassing to say the least. The picture seemed very thin. It wasnt as thick as the ones i normally get at another store. They need to check their sheets before selling another faulty one. Its a wonderful store, but unfortunately the edible images are not. UPDATE On July 12th, I received a call from the owner, to discuss the experience that I had on April 7th, to be advised that her best friend Sally of 25+ years does not come across as unprofessional and she trusts her. Being that I made a scene and indicated that I was no longer returning in my previous review, I was advised to "keep it that way." So, the fact that what her best friend Sally did was unprofessional and inappropriate and conducted in front of customers, I am the one no longer welcomed. So, I had no right to be upset, I should have kept my frustration to a whisper, and just left quietly. No ma'am, everyone needs to know what type of owner you are, and the type of atmosphere you allow. Based on several other reviews that I read on Google, as well as Yelp, I am not the only one who's experienced such poor customer service. So, because Sally is her best friend, she has a pass to remain unprofessional. I have frequented this baking supplier for a few years now and Saturday, April 7th became my last visit due to poor customer service and unprofessionalism. I had just come from working out for 2 hrs and arrived in sweats, I barely walked in the door and Sally asks "Can I help you". What appeared to be an attempt at Customer Service felt like I was being profiled due to my attire, but I brushed it off and began getting the items that I came in for. Once I was done, I'm now at the register with Sally. Once she entered all of my items into their system, I tell her that I wanted to split the payments. She says to me, in front of customers, "You don't have enough money to put this purchase on one card?" I was livid!!! #1 That was extremely inappropriate & in front of customers. I said, "Excuse Me?" She goes on to tell me how their Excel system is set up to take payments. She became defensive, raised her tone and I asked her to bring her tone from down from a 10 to a 2. There are still customers observing this. At this point a friend of mine so happen to walk in and I'm explaining to her what happened and some petite girl with short dark hair says to me that I'm no longer welcomed there and I stated that I wasn't planning on returning. Thank goodness this is not the only baking supplier in Houston. I don't know who this young lady was, however, she was not present at the beginning of my transaction. Not once when she surfaced did she ask what happened? Or ma'am why are you upset? Thank you Amazing Cake Supplies for allowing me to take my business elsewhere and from looking at previous reviews I am not the only one who has encountered poor customer service. read more
