Gosh, I've been coming to this Bering's location for I guess I would say now decades, wow! There are so great benefits in coming here to get just about anything you want and in addition ask questions to understand if you have the best option. Parking is close lot so you can get in and out without having to walk acres across a parking lot and the store has lots of helpers / staff if you get stumped. If there isn't anyone proximal, they'll find the expert for that area, lickety split. This place covers the whole gambit of items your needing be it hardware, outdoor living, kitchen, party and paper, baby & kid's items. The list goes on. I particularly shop in the lighting and cleaning section, but I enjoy the coffee and chocolates. They have a few roast choices of what they put out for their daily coffee and allows me some time to chit chat with either the people there or the service attendant. Prices are a bit higher, but you get quick and quality service. I've read some of the other lower rated reviews and it seem many folks have a high sense of fragility over stupid sh..t! Oh the entitlement..... If you get the opportunity, come shop here or give it a walk through the many little sections and see what you can find and use. read more

I stumbled upon a potato cookbook at Berings which will be perfect for bébé and I. Gotta love a good and hearty potato recipe, especially with cozy autumn around the corner. The colorful wall of cookbooks is such a delight. To be fair, I visited today in hopes of finding a spicy salsas & moles cookbook, which I found on their website. But it was nowhere to be found within the brick and mortar shoppe. Alas, we settled for the savory potato book. The autumnal kitchen aprons piqued my attention and I may revisit pretty soon. Everything is becoming gold and orange within the shoppe. The large green parrot at the shoppe is quite amusing and adorable. We love interacting with him. It's always fun to visit Bering's, they have something for everyone. They often have deals as well, talk about sweet! Oh and don't forget the coffee and chocolates. They have handmade chocolates, biscotti and local coffee. The culinary equipment here is quite nice, whether you're looking for a new teapot, knife set or mugs, bowls. I love this store always however this was the first time at this location. I bought a beautiful gift and it was supposed to be gift wrapped . I was told that it would take one hour for gift wrapping so I decided to come back another day to pick it up . I went today to be told thst they could not find my gift . They looked everywhere could not find it . Finally someone told me thst a staff had placed it back on the showroom and now it has been purchased . The s te add member that helped me was Mathias , he made my catastrophic experience a pleasant one in the end. I wish I had taken my gift with me that day . There was no explanation as to why the other staff never placed my gift back on the showroom when it was paid for . I'll think twice before I go back . read more

Eclectic mix of household and specialty items are abundant in this Westheimer store down the street from the Galleria. Was pleasantly surprised at the amazing customer service as we were just looking and had at least 6 friendly employees come to ask us for help. We tried coffee from the barrister, and he gave us a thorough overview of where to find things in the store. Very impressive!! They offer some high-end cooking ware from France , monogrammable cutting boards , a nice selection of hardware, and even items for your garden. I loved their selection of spices and even found a brand that can not find any more at my local HEB. To the right of the store in the next building, they had a chef cooking fajitas and making salad with dressing for you to try from the store. In the next building they now have a mancave worth seeing and a section with many baby items and decorative card items with stationary. We even learned this store started as a hardware store in the 1940s and has evolved over the years to serve the community.I appreciated that they had security present as Westheimer can be somewhat unsafe and the customer service was impressive. After years of my mother raving about this place and how she always finds the most special gifts here, I finally stopped in. Located off Westheimer in an unassuming building is housed a really unique place for home decor, china, appliances, patio furniture, coffee; you name it, they have it. Really. No kidding. The sales people are all wonderfully friendly, multi generational and helpful. It feels like you're in a different world when you're in the store. It really resonates like you're in a small town, where everybody knows your name. As far as gifts, Bering's is full of all kinds of gifts ranging from cute hand towels, bathroom accessories to fine china. Speaking of fine china, this is my most favorite part of the retail experience. Their china department was so elegant with beautiful table and shelf displays. So pretty, I almost purchased a set of china even though I had no use for it lol. I can go on and on about this place as there's an experience down every aisle, so make sure to stop in the next time you're in the area. If you're looking for a one stop gift shop experience where they give you personalized service, I think you'll enjoy the experience. I have two kids and was able to get only one yeti rambler on the yeti site (due to color preference) but my other daughter wanted purple (which yeti didn't have) so I moved heaven and earth to find the purple yeti at Bering's. Even paid $15 shipping. But Bering's reached out days later to tell me they had no purple yetis in stock, after confirming. Now I have to get another and pay shipping again. Terribly disappointed that they could not provide this information from the beginning. read more

I had the rudest experience with the man working the coffee station. First he ignored me while I stood there. When he finally acknowledged me, he proceeded to be condescending and rude. When I told him what level to have my coffee grinder he mocked me. I finally gave up and said he could grind the coffee how he sees fit. Then he mocked me again. They carry the best brands, and especially hard to find and small businesses! They also have an amazing farmers market every week!!!! It's one of the things I look forward to doing!! Today I needed a very specific plumbing part. I could not find it at conventional plumbing stores so I called Berings. They did not have the part however an incredibly kind gentleman in the plumbing department directed me to Hall's sprinklers and they did have the part. Who doesn't like Bering's? This place has something for everyone. From women's, men's and babies clothing to outside furniture to stationary they really.do have it all. Besides having it all, their customer service is bar none one of the best in the retail space. Their employees are always so cheerful and eager to help with everything even if it is not their department. I order all my Crane & Co. Stationary here and pick up stock items as well. They always have a great selection on hand. I also like to get fresh hand made chocolates and items for BBQ's here. The selections are really good! Wedding and gift registry is fun too as you can find everything you need to decorate and stock a complete house. If you've never been to a Bering's, do yourself a favor and stop by. I just wanted to state my experience. Me and my mother went to the coffee section because we love to buy aromatic coffee from Berings. There was an employee stocking coffee and we were waiting for her attention. As we were waiting I noticed an array of cups and a coffee pump so I figured it was a sample. I grabbed one of the disposable cups and proceeded to pump coffee inside it. Only when I pumped coffee into the cup the lady ran towards me and told me I am not allowed to touch the cups and that they need to serve me. She told me to toss the cups I touched and and then handed me a sample. To add to her rudeness she did not offer my mother a sample afterwards. Berings should have placed a sign stating that we are not allowed to grab a sample because of Covid. I did not appreciate her rude combative attitude. You lost one loyal customer. read more

Located just west of the Galleria, Berings is basically an upscale hardware store. It's like Ace Hardware but with many more fine items to choose from. Berings has a section entirely devoted to fine china and silverware, much like you would find at Macy's, Dillard's or Nordstrom. During the holidays, this entire china/silverware section is beautifully decorated with various Christmas wares. They really do have some very unique and elegant ornaments. Berings also has a wonderful coffee/truffles section. Some of the best chocolate truffles you will find in Houston and arguably some of the best coffee beans too. For everyday hardware, you can find the same stuff at cheaper prices at other hardware stores. read more

Setup: rare item search The good: This place is way bigger than I thought - don't forget the additional building in the back. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All kinds of fascinating things that you didn't think you needed are amongst the shelves. The bad: The item I was looking for was online, but unavailable - because it had been discontinued by the manufacturer for 4 YEARS. The staff knew this and let me know right away, but seemed to have no way of getting it off their site. Observations: Pricing can be on the high side. Instead of replacing the entire contraption for $25 (ala Home Depot with help/ personnel being far/ few between), Gene advised to replace a rubber washer for $3.95! Recently I went to my favorite one stop hardware store combined with a luxury gift department. I needed several high efficiency cleaning items for my home. I looked around and decided that I needed assistance to find a solution for my specific issues. There is always a very competent sales person available. I was so fortunate to have Alfred available to assist me with my issues. I informed him that I have a Baker dinning table that has a relatively large smokey white spot area. I was not sure if it was caused by heat or water. I had personally tried, without success for a year, every manner offered on the internet to remove this stain. Alfred recommended the Natchez Solution. With one application this long term annoyance disappeared. Alfred also helped me with fabulous products for leather, sterling, and brass. Alfred cut short the time I needed for my shopping needs by at least 50%. In addition, he provided me with the best advice and product selection to resolve my specific cleaning issues. Some of my favorite things here are the truffle/chocolate counter, the gourmet coffee, and something silly.. if you want to get a spare key made they have tons of the cute, printed keys to choose from. Today I was shopping in this store; I'm a regular customer with an account. This store is a fairly high end gift, hardware, housewares and has a nice selection if you don't mind paying a bit more. I'm posting this because I was taken aback by one of their sales associates today. I was looking for rim salts for margaritas. Now mind you this is not a liquor store however they have every kind of food related salts. They have a wide selection of novelty food items. I asked the man behind the counter where they sell coffee and candy if they have salts for margaritas. In a flat, almost rude voice he said "We don't carry those kinds of items. You need to go to Specs Liquor or HEB grocery store," in a condescending way. My reply was "Well I thought you would since you sell all kinds of (cooking) salts." During my time looking around I heard this sales associate helping other customers, clearly ones that he knew perhaps because they shopped there regularly, in a friendly, helpful demeanor. So why he acted like I was an idiot for asking if they sell rim margarita salts I don't know. There is an air of snobbery in this store probably because of the wealthy clientele. I have seen it before in other departments. This may sound petty but a store like this really should have friendlier sales associates with all levels of clientele not just the ones from Memorial or River Oaks. read more

I love this store and continue to go back. They lost a star here because the cashier was on her phone when I walked up and then got back on it before I had even put my card back into my wallet. Standing right exactly in front of her and she couldn't get her phone out fast enough. Along with wearing her zippered sweatshirt backwards and not being very friendly. This is very unusual for Bering's as they are usually the best in customer service. The gentleman who made my keys for me was great! Also was offered help throughout the store with a smile.
