Oh this was so delightful and delicious. Every detail of each dish was perfection. The staff was super nice, and the GM came by our table to thank us for dining at Amada on this evening. The Lancaster Ave location is on the 1st floor of an office building and you will likely not see it from Lancaster Ave. I suggest for your 1st visit, use GPS. It used to be better! Our waiter only offered us bottled water (then I see other tables getting tap water...). We were a group of 6 and we ordered the 18 recommended tapas . They rolled out food sooo slowly, we sat with salad on the table for at least 30 min. The whole dinner took 2h! I was so uncomfortable sitting in that booth for that long. Dishes worth returning to: Patatas Bravas Beef skewers Croquettes Stuffed peppers The rest was meh. Cheesecake was overcooked, salad was under seasoned, salmon had a weird sauce to it, octopus was fishy and slimy. I used to love this place. It's a shame the quality has gone down. In both locations. Amazing ladies night out! Eddy (Omar), our waiter was top notch! From the amazing service to the fantastic wine advice, to the amazing food and fabulous company, what a perfect night. The paid particular attention to my friends gluten-free diet specifically pointing out what she could and should not eat. From the amazing asparagus to the tasty octopus, we had an amazing dinner. The salmon was beautifully cooked. The chicken was delightful. But the shrimp and Brussel sprouts stole the show! The shrimp was in this delectable herb butter sauce that was absolutely amazing paired with the crostini. Dunk the crostini in the sauce and you're in for flavor town! We always tend to get the Brussel sprouts when we're out together and these were by far our favorite yet! A little crunchy, a little soft, with a touch of sweetness! The wine suggestion paired nicely with everything and was one of the best red wines I've ever had. Our desserts were also amazing! I only got a pic of the wine :(. Definitely will be back. read more

Went to this restaurant a couple weeks ago and I could not be more ecstatic about the service and food! We had the chef come talk to our table which I find to be a very unique experience! I noticed a manager walking around talking to tables and making sure everything was going well too. It's nice to see a restaurant have such an immersive experience, we could see the kitchen cooking which was a beautiful touch. Couldn't recommend this place ENOUGH!! Fun place to check out! The menu can be a little intimidating because it's so large but you can do what we did - take the easy route and go for the (inexpensive) Chef's Tasting Menu. The table shares what is served and at one point the 2 of us thought we had finished all that was going to be served but another 4 plates arrived! There had to be at least 11 different dishes for us to try and most were very very good. It would be hard to list them all but some of our favorites included the Serrano Ham Croquettes; the Potato & Onion Omelette; the Charred Shishito Peppers; the Skirt Steak etc etc! Colleague and I shared multiple tapas, more than our stomachs can handle. Gambas Al Ajillo (garlic shrimps) & Pulpo (Galician style octopus) were wonderful. What surprised us was Piquillos (crab-stuffed peppers), very tasty. Bruselas Catalana (brussels sprouts) was good, but Tortilla Espanola (potato & onion omelette) could use more flavor. We also had Mariscos (seafood paella), which was big enough to feed 3 people. I enjoyed the rice more than the seafood. However, the dish looked stunning. Service was great. My wife and I went to Amada in Radnor at 530 on a Monday and were greeted right away by a very friendly host. We sat outside and had the patio to ourselves, which made it feel like a private dinner. There are a few outdoor tables, but you have to walk through the restaurant to get to them, so not sure if it is dog friendly. Our server Ibrahim was excellent. He walked us through the menu and shared his favorites. They offer a tapas tasting menu for 45 and a full dinner tasting menu for 75, but we decided to choose our own experience. Ibrahim and the kitchen coursed everything out perfectly. We had seven tapas plates and one steak to share, and it felt like the right amount of food. Maybe a little too much, but we wanted to try as much as possible. It would also be fun with more people so you could sample lots of dishes. Every plate was great, but the garlic shrimp were my favorite. My wife keeps raving about the salad, simple but perfectly done. Drinks were excellent too. She had cava on tap, I had an "Ole Fashion" and the tap lager, and we loved all of them. The music and overall vibe were spot on and made the night even better. Such a phenomenal experience! I will say that I love all things Jose Garces, but man, the brunch was top notch! If you're thinking about it, just do it! The family style is the way to go, but come hungry, because there's PLENTY of food - and it's all delicious. I can't recommend the crab Benedict enough - filling, light, flavorful- honestly just delicious. You also can't go wrong with the delicious shared plates (and there's plenty for your entire party). Amada has a location on the main line! And honestly, this place is pretty great, not to mention the added convenience of you're in the suburbs. The location is great, right of route 30 near the 476 exit, across from microcenter. The location itself is a bit tricky... You need to drive around the building to get to the parking lot, though it's my understanding you can park in the lot closest to route 30 and take the stairs. Closest parking is valet only. Once you're there, the place looks amazing on the inside! It's quite large, with a huge bar, and great decor. Best part, they have lots of sound dampening, so even when it's packed, it doesn't sound packed. Service is attentive and efficient. Food and drinks are what you expect of amada..in a word, delicious! Everything we had was absolutely delicious and kept us coming back for more. We considered dessert, but ultimately decided not to because we ate too much as it was. Went here over the Thanksgiving holiday and ordered the Chefs Tasting and was disappointed. I was expecting a better assortment of dishes. Five of the nine dishes were average and tiny, which consisted of cheese, some pepperoni, croquettes, shosito peppers, and fried potatoes. The skirt steak was not bad but a tad salty and the chicken skewers and dessert was okay but not amazing. The worst thing for me was the tasting menu didn't seem to highlight the restaurant's strongest offerings or at least I hope it didn't. The service was good though and friendly but the food underwhelmed for an 'Iron Chef' restaurant. It's not clear to me that I will return. Service I give a 4 but food for this level of restaurant really felt more like a 2. So I settled for a 3 overall score. read more

Birthday dinner review! Jose Garces is one of those Iron Chef's that need no introduction in the City of Brotherly Love, and in the past I've been to many of his restaurants. Yet somehow his original Tapas palace Amada is one of those restaurants that has somehow alluded me! For my birthday this year I decided that it was far time for me to rectify this... sort of. Rather than go to the Philly original, I was so mesmerized and somewhat stupefied of the fact that they had opened its newest location in Radnor that it was one that I just had to try. And it led to the best Tapas experience that I've ever had! Rather than be tempted into ordering all of the things we decided to go "La Mesa De Jose" style so we could savor a chef's selection that provided a more than suitable mix of some of the things with a lavish presentation. Rather than listen to the sound judgment of our server and add a couple of additional tapas, I also decided to add the "Mixto: Carnes Y Quesos" board which *might have* came close to adding too much manchego with/ truffled honey and Iberico ham (close because is there really such a thing as too much of either?!) to our table! While charcuterie is still the best thing ever, next time I'm definitely choosing a couple of additional items instead so I can ensure that I enjoy those bacon-wrapped dates and crab-stuffed peppers alongside a couple of charcuterie items that get tossed into the overall selection. That said, it still proved worth it since the board also came with two cured chorizos and my new favorite combo of Cana De Cabra with a chocolate hazelnut puree! For drinks, I loved their Spanish take on an old-fashioned, and I enjoyed the fact that they had Mahou on the beer list. But they had an impressive mix of specialty cocktails and spirits on the menu. Where do I even begin with the incredible dishes that we had? while my pictures only cover so much of what we had before we indulged, and the chef's selection added a few surprises, I know that I enjoyed the following in addition to our charcuterie: Gambas Al Aljillo - the classic combo of shrimp with garlic & lemon is always easy to enjoy! Albondigas - Lamb meatballs with manchego, sherry, and a foie gras cream for the win! Chamuca - a spiced lamb turnover with a spicy mojo sauce. So good! Setas - a medley of wild mushrooms with truffle and lemons Brochetas De Pollo - perfectly cooked skewered chicken served succulently with an almond lemon labne sauce. Yes please! Chorizo Bilbao - tender sausages served simple with a bit of garlic and paprika. Ganache De Chocolat - an almost brulee style chocolate wafer sitting atop a ganache of chocolate Arbequina olive oil, and hazelnuts. Toss in spectacular service and it was another birthday dinner for the ages.Toss in even more things to try like paella and a whole roasted suckling pig dinner and I'm guaranteed to be back for more! read more

We visited Amada to celebrate my husband's dissertation defense! We had dinner reservations for 6:15. The restaurant had dim lighting and was quiet. There were very few people there. We started with happy hour which was surprisingly empty. The happy hour menu was very good. We followed up with dinner and did the chef's tasting menu! OMG! Everything was so delicious! My husband has multiple food allergies and they were accommodating but forgot a few times. They were extremely apologetic and didn't hesitate to replace the items. There was so much food. The interior of this new location is spacious and beautiful! There is a large bar area and the kitchen faces an open area dining room! The drinks are top notch and flavorful! The tapas of the braised short rib on flatbread was delicious! The jamón croquettes in romesco sauce..so yummy! Very solid branch of the Garces family on the Main Line, with a beautiful ambiance, solid fare, and a friendly waitstaff. They have all of the classics, including the paella, patatas bravas, and tortilla espanola, along with a few new twists, such as the pernil over white beans and chimichurri wagyu steak. I will say that the pernil and mushroom rice were the runaway hits of the evening. The pork was perfectly cooked - juicy and tender with a crispy skin, served over a bed of creamy and savory white beans. The mushroom rice is basically their version of a risotto but with machengo vs grana padano - savory and creamy. The price is fantastic for the value - it came to ~$200, including tax, for 9 dishes, including the paella, for 4 - and we were quite full. Our server was great - friendly, attentive, and helpful - and we received a complimentary dish of a creamy tuna spread with crackers . The host and hostess at the front were a bit standoff-ish and "precious" but our server made up for that. It would be a 5 stars save for the front of the house/greeting staff. Pretty decent food- good flavors but confusing textures and a little overpriced. We had an early dinner- the restaurant was near empty when we came in but we were seated near the door at a really dark table behind a column?? Definitely ask for the outdoor area or booth if you don't want to be dining in the dark. We liked the ham and fig salad- good combo of sweet and salty. Scallops were good but the potato croquettes on top were so thick I could barely open my mouth to chew. The shrimp dish felt like something I could make at home. Empanadas we're pretty good, would make a good party dish. The ahi was pretty good but could've used a non-creamy sauce imo. The octopus was my favorite dish! It was so tender and well seasoned. I would also get the chocolate mousse again, it was rich but not thick, and I loved the crunchy biscuit on top. Our server was really kind and attentive. Fun menu! Starting with an interesting drink menu, including a gin & tonic cart, El Carrito. Pulpo (Octopus), Coca De Costillas, and Patatas Bravas were our fav Tapas. We also had Valenciana Paella. They are really big fans of aioli, so if that is not your thing, ask for it on the side. Save room for desert. Arroz con leche, torrijas frito & chocolate ganache were all tremendous. Our second visit to this location( 2 visits to the city location before) A classic example why opening other outposts can be a huge mistake. My mom was born in Barcelona and I am a retied chef with 50 years in the business. Our visits to the original location were stelar, but not at the radnor location. We had Croqueta's that arrive at room temperature and Jamon that was thickly sliced way in advance.I was looking at a Berkel slicer proudly displayed in the dining room and the at the colorless slabs of ham on my plate. We split the Paella Valencia.the taste of saffron was non existent and we both swore the Ailoi all over the dish had mustard in it. The Socarrat was non existent. Our server was very sweet, but I would guess she had under a months worth of time on the floor. She question us about everything-"Should I bring new plates for the next course?" I will say the prices are reasonable, but sadly Spain was not well represented despite the blaring Gypsy Kings soundtrack. I will also add the importance of what I call the door.No one was at the door for the first 5 minutes after we arrived and no on was at the door when we left. Huh...well that was an interesting dining experience. To preface, the waiter and host were very nice and were attentive. Additionally, the ambiance was nice with ample seating and lighting. Also, having a parking lot is great compared to hunting for a street spot in Old City, Philly. The issue really just stems from the most important thing: the food. The coffee was tasty - it had a chocolate flavor to it which was very lovely. However, the actual sustenance I and my dining partner had well...We ordered the Sangaria Pancakes and the Crab Benedict. The Sangaria Pancakes were good but a little underwhelming. The sauce was bitter and the shaved green apple tasted overly dressed with a yuzu vingrette or something. The pancakes were alright but nothing rememberable. As for the Crab Benedict...The poached egg was hard boiled. When the waiter asked how everything was, he was shocked to see the egg so cooked. He was very nice and went to ask the chef to remake another pair of poached eggs. Mind you, this gesture though nice was pretty late. My dining partner did not want to cause any isssues for the kitchen and was planning to eat the eggs regardless. By the time the new poached eggs arrived, his food was cold. It would have been better to simply remake the dish but alas. As an apology the host wanted to give us dessert. We didn't plan to have any (and to be honest did not want it but figured we could bring it back with us for later) so we waited for the menu. Our silverware had been removed and we did not receive a dessert menu so we thought maybe it was forgetten but no...We got a french toast with an orange sorbet on it. Not the worse but I rather have had the option since I cannot eat a lot of citrus. My dining partner tasted it and immediately noticed the texture was off. Upon our slice and dice, the french toast was all rare. The host was angry and asked to remake it to the kitchen but we really just wanted to leave at that point so we asked for the check and that was that. The gesture was very sweet and appreciated but it is really hard to overlook the quality of the food hence the two stars. I feel that the service was very good however, diners can't eat service but food. I doubt I will return to Amada in Radnor or Philly now after this experience. read more

I had a really nice brunch at Amada today! This was the first time I went to the new location (I had been to the center city location once before) and everything was really nice. When I went to the other location in center city, I felt like the portion sizes were not worth what we paid. I did not feel hat way at the Radnor location during Brunch. My friend and I got the Por La Familia meal which came with a bread basket (two different croissants and a cake), two appetizers, and an entree for each of us. I thought this was a great value for what we paid. The service was also excellent. I definitely plan to return! read more

If you're looking for a good place for a group dinner, you can't go wrong with tapas! We went as a group of six & got to try so many delicious things from amada's menu. The surprise favorite of the night was the sweet pea dish! We also tried jamon croquettes, gambas al ajillo, pulpo (PERFECTLY cooked!), wagyu, short rib flatbread, tuna dip, pork in white bean stew, & chicken/rabbit paella. Each dish stood out in its own right - I wish I had a bigger stomach to be able to eat more! The cocktails we started with were all yummy & interesting (I had one that was perfect for summer & tasted just like lychee), and the wine list offered good options as well. We shared a dessert (and I had an espresso martini - my dessert go-to while others at the table tried some of the various sherry options) as well. Service was great & made sure there was enough on each dish for sharing with a group of our size. The only downside I would say is that the restaurant gets very loud - so try to get a round table/round booth to be able to hear everyone you come with! I just had the Pernil at Amada, and it was disgusting. I've had Mexican pernil- which is a slow cooked pork dish. And I looked up Spanish petnil to see if I just didn't understand. But no, in any country it's roasted pork shoulder. The menu describes it a roasted pork with skin. Maybe that should be a tipoff that it's really pork belly. But honestly I don't know what this was, other than fatty and burnt. I could not find a single fork full that I wanted to put in my mouth. The white beans that came with it were over salted. The tapas we had were ok, although the octopus didn't actually resemble any octopus I've ever had. So overall- blaaaaaghhh. read more
