I was excited when I received the print and remarked on how well it was packaged for shipment. But when I unpacked the piece, the artwork was damaged. The top corner of the print had been bent/folded. I reached out to Uprise, and they had a new print framed and sent out so I could exchange it. The new framed print arrived in a timely manner....BUT it was not packed as safely, and the new print had a piece of debris/glue residue on the darkest part of the print. So, 2 months and 2 framed prints later, I'm still without a piece of art to hang. Uprise is sending me a single print in exchange for these 2 framed prints and refunded me the framing cost. I'll now find my own framer locally as I don't trust Skyframe. I feel bad for the artist who now has lost 2 prints from his 100 print run.

Another week and the positioning was closer, but it was STILL OFF CENTER. Good God, they're supposed to be "premier" framers... isn't having the artwork centered kinda like, #1?? Guess "premier" framers don't have to measure. BTW, no apology of any kind for the delay, not even a mention. At least they used the frame I chose. And they didn't damage the piece like happened to some other folks. Goody for that. Otherwise unprofessional and lame. I brought it to another framer I trust to fix it. Should have stayed with the tried and true. Good money after bad.

Now, if you're a budding Eli Broad and love those fancy tongue & groove mitered corners you see on some $200k Picasso or Jasper Johns paintings, that's a whole other level from an even more exclusive framer, at least double or triple the price and IMO, simply not necessary for most signed prints valued under $10-15k. Once you experience a CityFrame job, you never want to go back!

I had to move my appointment a couple times bc of last minute issues and not once was I treated with less-than awesome communication. Maya took time showing care and detail even with other projects in her pipeline. She made the process super enjoyable for me and helped me perfect a default format for my photography that I'd been struggling with. I was quite specific about my preferences bc of my past negative experiences and she wasn't fazed at all. These guys met my short-window turnaround with ease. My final prints were beyond what I expected and my client was super happy. I can't recommend them highly enough and I cannot wait to work with them in the future.

Regarding the restoration of the 19th century paintings, one was torn, there were patches where the paint had chipped off, they were sagging off their stretchers, and were scratched. His work in restoring them was meticulous. And he cleaned them so that many details that we hadn't even noticed in the paintings previously were now visible! They turned out much better than we could have even imagined. We had also purchased some paintings in Central America that we brought back rolled up in a tube. Andrei put them into custom sized stretchers, perfectly smooth, with perfectly wrapped corners. We had a great experience with Andrei. He completed the job sooner than he had anticipated, and was very professional. He takes his work seriously and we appreciated that so much. We are so pleased with his work and would recommend him highly. In fact, I'm planning to bring him another painting that is starting to peel and have him repair it as well.
