Professional, Thoughtful, Considerate,…read more My daughter is off at college and her car started burning something out of the exhaust. From what she described, I was thinking a blown head gasket or rings. Normally I do all of our car work but, being off at college, it wasn't practical. One of her professors recommended Mobile Tech. She took the car in and asked them to look it over. My daughter also commented to me that, when she brought the car in, they didn't talk down to her like some guys do when talking to a woman about cars. They took the time to answer her questions without being condescending. Rob Harris was her mechanic. He noticed that it was up for inspection so he gave it a little more attention. His report noted the things that her car NEEDED. He could have up-sold me on a few things that I know it could use but he didn't. When I mentioned them, he agreed that it would be a good idea but he was addressing her car's immediate needs. She need a new radiator and the breaks were nearing end of life. I let him know that I could do the breaks but wanted them to do the radiator so she could drive it home. I though for sure it would be a week to get the parts and work it in. He said the car would be ready the next day and it was. There's more. Rob had some other good advice about the car which I appreciated. But that was enough. I spoke with Rob a few times on the phone about the car and every time I hung up I felt like the car was in good hands and my daughter was being taken care of the way I would want her to be treated.

I went in for an oil change with 3 sensors on. When I 1st walked in, the Mechanic said I was really lucky, and that he was the best guy in town to look at my car, because he had been the Service Foreman at Honda for the past 15yrs. David Cochran is the new Co-Owner at Austin's Tire & Auto, so I knew my 2014 Honda Pilot was in good hands. While waiting, I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with Tristan and John, but I knew I was in trouble when David came and sat down beside me. He patiently listened to all my concerns about whether or not to invest the $5000 in my car, and he thoughtfully weighed in on all my options. He said it would cost $1500 more if I had gone to the dealership because he had lower overhead. The parts were in, and David said he'd try and have it done by the end of the following day. My boyfriend thought it would take longer, as they had to remove the engine for the repair. David went to the shop at 4 am to make sure my vehicle would be ready when he said it was. They quoted me $5000 and the total came in below the quote and on time in less than 32 hrs. With Austin's Tire & Auto, I've finally found the local equivalent to Hearne's Automotive in Raleigh, who I've continued to do business with since leaving Raleigh 11 years ago. I feel very lucky to have found David and the incredible crew at Austin's. All the mechanics at Austin's are motorheads. They live for cars. Their hobby when they get off work is hot rods. It's their life. They live it. It's like a musician or a painter, it's their art. The Silver Lining - David had a badass rat rod out front, so I got to take some cool photos that put a huge smile on my face.

Daughter went off to college at UNCW. I usually do most repairs myself but the distance was an issue. Glad we found a Honda specialist! When we replaced the Civic with a Nissan Cube, Auto Tech proved to be THE place again! Nissan wanted $450 to replace the valve gasket because you have to remove the intake manifold to get to it. Auto Tech did put for under $200. I've trusted my daughter's car her all throughout college. No up charges and honest repairs done right the first time! Thanks Chris and team! 12/4/2020 Update Chis is amazing! We had a recent issue with head gasket failure. Essentially the previous work performed by Auto Tech was flawless but the part failed. The problem is my daughter graduated UNCW and is now living in Charlotte, 200 miles away! What a quandary! Chris went above and beyond by contacting the NAPA supplier and through his network membership with NAPA, offered a remote NAPA warranty solution where a shop here in Charlotte was paid to perform the work. Kudos to NAPA for standing behind their product and special thanks to Chris for standing behind his commitment to customers, even though we are 200 miles apart! This is customer service and integrity at its best! I feel any other shop would not have gone the extra mile to make things right! Christmas came early for my daughter this years and "Chris" played the role of Santa "Chris" Kringle!
