We have a 2011 Ford Fusion. Our air conditioner went kaput . AAA told us they couldn't fix it and referred us to Capital Ford. After charging us over $ 1500 it still didn't work properly. My son researched what he thought was a reliable and expert place. And he was so right they were extremely thorough and diagnosed the problem and fixed it expertly and completely! Called about AC problem, they told me $149 diagnostic fee but if I fixed it there they would eat the cost of the diagnostic charge. Then quotes over $860.00 for the repair. But then turned around and said plus $173 for the diagnostic so almost $1000.00. So not only did they lie about eating the diagnostic charge they upped it $24 dollars. So we paid the diagnostic charge and left. Seems pretty untrustworthy to me when they lie from the start. I will definitely not return to this shop or recommend them to anyone. read more

We've been taking our truck here for years until now. The owner Bill is a nice guy, but he has questionable judgement in service managers. They act friendly to your face, but you leave feeling taken advantage of (like when they cracked our dashboard during a routine repair and didn't say anything, then denied responsibility citing that it's an older vehicle and was "unavoidable"). Most recently, I dropped my truck off for an annual safety inspection and somehow got charged for an additional diagnostic inspection that I never requested. I understand that COVID-19 is making a lot of small businesses desperate, but they should be relying more than ever on their loyal customers, not ripping them off. The most unfortunate part of this experience is that I feel 2 Techs was one of the few trustworthy mechanics in Wilmington, but they just lost all our business and respect. read more

My wife and I have trusted 2 Techs garage for years. They have worked on both of our cars from time to time and we have always felt that we have been treated fairly. The cost always seems very reasonable for the parts and services performed. Bill, the owner, is an "explainer". He doesn't just tell you something is broken and needs to be fixed. He takes the time to make sure that you understand what's wrong...why it must have gone wrong...what the function is...and what is needed to fix it! This is also a shop that treats men and women equally. My wife always feels respected and informed during a visit. The shop is a little off the main road...but well worth finding. Perhaps you get a good deal from Bill because he doesn't have as much overhead expense as the larger shops. It was that time where my Jeep had almost 110K miles on it and needed some maintenance. After searching Yelp! for some recommendations, I called 2 Techs Garage to see if they were open during the pandemic and to also see if they had availability. Mark was professional and courteous over the phone and stated they had some slots open. After trekking an entire 1 mile up to the shop, I was greeted by Mark & Baxter (English Bulldog mascot of the shop). Mark then worked around my schedule so that I could have my maintenance completed today. Within 2 hours, a full transmission pan service, flush & fill, oil change, transfer case service, differential fluid service, tire rotation and NC State inspection were all complete with no hiccups. The price and value for all services were fair and in-line and the service was very good. Thank you again for accomodating my needs today and completing all tasks in a very respectable timeframe. I currently live in New York but have a family member living in North Carolina. I received a call from my future daughter in law and she said she had a burning smell coming from her vehicle and didn't know what it could be. I reviewed a few garages on yelp and made a few calls. I felt most comfortable with a gentleman I spoke with from 2 Techs named Bill. He said to have her bring it right over and he would check it out. So she brought the vehicle over to him and he checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He said perhaps a plastic bag may have got stuck on some hot part of the vehicle. When he was completed he sent her on her way and didn't charge her to look it over. Thank you Bill from 2 Techs I will be seeing you in the future. read more

I make sure that my daughter goes there , my 85 year old neighbor gets all of his work done there and they take extra special care of my " CLEMSON TIGER TRUCK " !! these guys have become like family to me ! We had my car towed to 2 Techs because it was bogging down when I stepped on the gas. I am new to the area and saw they had excellent reviews, so that's why I chose them. After 2+ days I still had not heard from them and they said it was because their techs hadn't seen this issue before. Seemed reasonable, so I waited. They called and told us it was a sensor, they could get the part in a couple of days and it would be $250 installed. They also said they noticed a couple of other things that needed fixed, my AC blew on high all the time, (which I knew about) and there was something wrong with my muffler. My muffler sounded fine, but they said they would get pricing for us and call us back. Two days later we hadn't heard from them, so we called again and they told us it wasn't a sensor after all, that I needed a new axle and they already fixed it and it was around $400. They also fixed the AC blower and that was $250. We told them we didn't authorize any expense above the $250 they quoted us and they were supposed to call us back with a price on the AC. They said they "assumed" we would want it fixed. We told them they were wrong and we don't want to pay $250 for something we didn't agree to and they should go take out the $20 part we knew it would take to fix it. They said they would but they were going to charge us a $150 fee for assessing the problem. We told them that wasn't the deal and they knew it. They talked in circles and tried to justify it but we told them we weren't paying for it. They said they would have to call us back, but also told us the muffler was broken in half and it would cost around $400 to repair. We told them we didn't want that done and we would come get the car, they said "but we already sent it out". We told them again, we only said OK to $250 of repairs and now you are trying to charge us well over $1,000 for repairs on a car with 140k+ miles on it and is probably only worth $4k. They again said they "assumed" we would want it done. After arguing with them for a day, they finally agreed not to charge us for the AC but there was nothing they could do about the muffler charges since those were a 3rd party. (That they sent it to without my permission). We had no choice but to pay the $767 they railroaded us into so we could get our car back. The kicker here is, we got it home and crawled under the car to see what we assumed would be a new muffler and it was the old muffler that had absolutely no work done to it. My advice is beware of these people. I was tricked into using them by the reviews on Yelp, but after doing more digging, I have found LOTS of reviews like mine on other sites. I am filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau and also filing a claim in small claims court. Think twice before using these people - you may get lucky and get good service, or you may end up like me and get cheated. read more

Could not have been more satisfied with my visit to 2 Techs garage. I am a student at UNCW and I'm not from the area so I did some exploring to find a garage. When I called, Bill, the owner, was so friendly I automatically felt confident in my decision to bring my Jeep there. I wasn't sure what was wrong with it, but I was having trouble starting my Jeep. They went out of their way to figure out what was wrong and the problem was so minor they ended up not charging me anything. Marc, the service manager, did his best to explain the problem to me. My ac stopped working, all at once it went from blowing cold air to just blowing air. The compressor was not cycling on at all. I called 2 techs and was told that the first step they would perform in diagnosing the problem was to drain the refrigerant completely out and refill it, at a cost of $130. This made no sense to me since you can check the pressures on the high and low sides of the compressor with the engine off and then with the engine running to see if the refrigerant level is low or not. I called meineke and was told they offer free ac diagnosis, I have an appointment this afternoon. I don't know what quality of work 2techs performs, but performing unnecessary work on customers cars for extra profit seems shady to me. I wouldn't have minded paying a reasonable fee for diagnostics either, but since meineke does it for free they will get my business for the repair also. read more
