Respectfully their services were horrible basically non- existent. I came to get a skirt altered for a Halloween costume and then gave them my number. They said they would call me when it was finished. A year and a half later I still haven't gotten it back. I paid for that skirt too so that money went down the drain. Unbelievable.. literally walked out just now. First and last time coming here. I went in with a brand new 'Tech Suit' (Think Lululemon ABC Pant stretch material) first he looks at it and scoffs at me. No idea why. Then looks at the sleeves which are coming down to my knuckles and asks me if I want to shorten them?! Umm yes. Proceeds to tell me because it's "t-shirt" material and if he removes the buttons to shorten it will leave holes. I look at the buttons and they are perfectly spaced apart where the desired length would be, is spaced between buttons. He asks if that's the length I want them which falls exactly where it should be and he literally starts laughing. I was so confused at this point. I told him never mind I'll go elsewhere and go back to dressing room to change. As I'm walking out he says "come in dude, Ive been doing this for [some random number which I couldn't articulate]." I told him he has zero customer service and maybe he should retire. Rude.. arrogant.. and lacking in all aspects of customer service. read more

I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed within a few days and he was on it! Not only did he hem the bottom but he took the time to hem the sides of my dress he felt were also needing hemming. He responded quickly and my dress came out great! Pricing was also reasonable which is a huge bonus. He is incredibly nice too!! Highly recommend!! read more

I've had several things altered here and every time it turns out exactly how I wanted it! I ordered a beautiful dress in the mail and it was way too small. The zipper wouldn't even come close to closing. The dress had sequin and tons of detail and I thought it would be impossible to make bigger. Not to mention I brought it in on a Tuesday and I needed it fixed by Friday! Not good planning on my part! They were able to work their magic and add some stretchy fabric with a new zipper. It looked great and fit perfectly! And they had it done by Friday. Can't say thank you enough!!!! read more

I have been coming here for years. I often need my clothes/ dresses/ scrubs altered since I'm so short. I've had every bridesmaid dress altered here, and each has always looked more beautiful than when I purchased it. I was originally going to give this place a 3 star review because Arturo does do good work but after today's experience I've had enough. I've taken quite a few suits here to get tailored and while it is a bit more expensive than other places, I've been happy with the final product so I didn't really mind. I dropped a suit off to be tailored and was told it'd be done by 4 pm Friday, to which I said great. On the day it was to be finished I called ahead to see what time they closed on Fridays because their hours aren't posted anywhere online. Arturo answered and told me 6 o'clock. Following our conversation I drove out of my way to pick up this suit so that I could have it for the weekend and when I arrived at 5:50 all the lights were off and the door was locked. The worst part is that this isn't the first time this has happened. The first it happened I shrugged it off but twice is too much. When I confronted Arturo about it, he blamed the clocks in the store for being too fast and didn't even apologize. That was the last straw. I paid what I owed and left. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I have taken two items there to be altered. The first was a blouse that was a wrap blouse and I wanted the fron sewn shut so that it did not gape open. When I went to pick it up, there was much hurried whispering and frantic activity and I realized that it had not been done and they were trying to quickly do it while I waited. As you can imagine, the rush job was poorly done and the blouse was rendered unwearable. Still, I decided to go back, because any business can have a bad day. I wanted to have a skirt taken in. When I went to pick it up, it had been taken in so much that I could not button it, and I know I did not gain 10 pounds in the week's time that it took. It is a lovely, bright, clean place, and maybe I just had bad luck, but I never went back. read more

Will not be going back. Went to have my daughters prom dress altered. We went in, he pinned and 3 things needed to be done. He said it would be the cheapest to place a $10 dart, have the side taken in and hemmed only in front. I thought awesome! Picked it up today. $105 bucks!! If you subtract the $10 for the dart, it cost me $95 to hem and take the side in! He said he had to do more hemming on the side of the dress. If that is the case, dont you call your client and tell them it will be more money before just doing it? Ripped off. Dont go there. read more

The tailor tore the coat fabric when he was taking off the patches sown into the sleeves. He told me this is common and was caused by an unsharpened needle when the patch was put on. This is just not true. I used to work in men's clothing and this is not at all common (or even heard of). Furthermore, I called Macy's, where I purchased the suit, and they corroborated that this issue is associated with the tailor not removing the tag correctly. He refused to take any measure of responsibility. He could have at minimum offered me a refund on the work, not to mention a reimbursement for damaging my new suit. The back pocket button was also popped off and found in the pocket, and the pant legs were not steamed properly. In fairness, he did a second suit at the same time and the tailoring seemed to have come out decently, and there was no torn fabric. read more

My daughter received her formal dress via online order through David's Bridal 3 days before her event. The dress was made too big through the hips & we weren't able to have David's Bridal fix it in time. Found Alterations by Alyssa via google. I wasn't able to get her dress in til Thurs & her event was Saturday. With masks on....we were able to walk in, the gentleman analysed the dress & with a hope & a prayer left the dress to be altered. Picked up the dress the day of the event around noon....WHAT AN AMAZING JOB! Fit my daughter to a "T". This material was not easy to work with & had many layers. He's a small business & cuz of Covid....business is slow. I highly recommend this place. read more

Going to this place for a few years... I'm short...need to alter almost ALL the stuff I wear. So they are a bit pricy for normal stuff and dockers do not warrant the cost. Went into this place because of decent reviews on Google. I should have checked the reviews on yelp and not wasted my time going there. Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. In broken English the person said they did not want to hem up my track pants because it was to much hard work for them to do. Which left me speechless then they pointed at the zipper and seam laughing in my face as they asked me if I sewed? I said no that was why I was standing in their shop so I could pay them to sew for me. I'm actually shocked to see this place even gets 3 stars here. Seriously. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL. I called in advance (May 1st) to find out how much lead time they would need for a full length prom dress that needed a hem on 3 layers and an alteration around the bust line (for a May 25th Prom) and was told 1 week was enough time. I took my daughter with her dress, shoes and bra to the shop on May 8th 2013 (2 1/2 weeks before Prom) and waited while the tailor on site marked the dress with chalk and pinned the bust line. He told to us return in TWO weeks, May 22nd and it would be ready for pick up. We returned to the shop on May 22nd only to discover the dress had NOT BEEN TOUCHED. My daughter put the dress on AGAIN (with same shoes and bra) for a DIFFERENT tailor (this time a woman) and she proceeded to PIN the dress hem. She told us it would be ready the next day, May 23rd. When we returned to the shop on May 23rd, with shoes and bra in hand, the tailor who saw us originally greeted us but did not bother to apologize for the dress being LATE. When my daughter tried on the dress it was TOO SHORT, the top layer hung lower on one side and the bust line had NOT been touched. The tailor tried to play off my daughter's obvious happiness of having her dress on by saying "it's fine - it looks wonderful." I pressed him to look at it again - if it is obvious to me, it most certainly should be obvious to him. He conceded it was lower on one side, pinned it and re-sewed that section. He also altered the bust line that should have already been done. My daughter put the dress on one more time and while she was so happy, being 18 and excited about prom, I looked at that brand new $225 prom dress and was so disappointed that it didn't even touch the floor anymore and that there was no time to shop for shoes 1/2 inch lower. The tailor obviously looked "done" so I went to the counter and he said "$90.00" and I hesitated knowing this was full price and then pointed out that the dress was not completed on time and that we had to arrange our schedules twice for him. He then asked if I was not happy about the dress and I told him outright that I was most assuredly not happy; the dress was too short but there was nothing I could do about it. It was done. He got flustered and blurted out that his chalk markings were NOT the same as the pinning and that the girl had pinned it had written a note on the work order to shorten by 1/2 inch all around; that he wondered why that was so when he got there that morning to alter the dress. As a PROFESSIONAL, he KNEW it was not right, he questioned it himself. Yet he cut it anyway. He KNEW standing there that I was right, the dress was too short. For a moment I thought his pride in his work as a PROFESSIONAL would show itself and that he would AT LEAST have the courtesy to offer a reduced cost for the alterations. But he failed as a professional tailor and businessman and did not - HE CHARGED FULL PRICE FOR LATE, FLAWED AND UNPROFESSIONAL WORK. read more

Arturo is a nice guy, until you start talking about price. He's expensive. He was going to charge me $65/hr on my wedding dress. But how are you suppose to know how much time he spent on it. Then he was going to charge my bridesmaid $85 to cut an inch off the bottom and take it out an inch on the side. I thought that was too expensive. I've been taking my items to this shop for around 3 years. The owner is a master tailor, does all of the work and usually takes the measurements. Every piece I've taken to him has been perfect. I've never had formal wear made or altered here, however. He's altered gaps in waistbands, shortened hems and altered tops for me. I would feel comfortable taking any type of alteration to him. I've used other tailors and had problems especially with gaps in the waistband but not here. His prices are reasonable and less than the shop in the Marketplace in Long Beach. If you are looking for a tailor that knows what he's doing this is the place. read more

I took my daughter's prom dress there. We patronize the restaurant and also the flooring place in that center, so I thought it would be convenient and fine to also patronize the alterations shop. The dress needed to be taken in, and I wondered how he would alter it, given that it had beading. The tailor assured me that he had a gathering method that was "easy." "No problem," he said. I received a ticket stub and a verbal when I asked him the price it would be to fix. He wanted $35, and I wrote it down on the ticket. When we went to pick up the dress, it was too loose so they said he'd "just take a few more stitches" and to send my daughter in the following day to pick it up. This I did, but in my absence he told her it would be $70--twice the fee he'd told me. She called me asking if I'd speak to him on the phone. When I asked why the price was now $70 when he'd told me $35, he said repeatedly, "Come aaawwwnnnnnn..." over and over and over again, as though I were unfair even asking him to explain the 100 percent jump in price. My daughter could not bring the dress home until I went in the following morning. Having decided not to get into an upsetting dispute over the extra $35, I went to the store to pay the man his double fee to get the prom dress. On "the big day" of the prom, my daughter and several friends and their moms gathered at one house to get ready together. All went wonderfully--hair, makeup, dressing, but as soon as my daughter moved in the dress, she felt and I heard the tailor's work break. Panic and bewilderment on her face, I told her she'd just have to be extremely careful not to move much. [Question: How does a girl go to a dance and not move?] Not a minute later, we heard another section of the alterations break, and then another. I called the tailor at Alyssa Gabrielle and told him what was happening and asked if this breakage was going to continue. He kept saying it was no problem--to "just bring it back." There was no time to do so, however. She had to leave for the event. After the dance my daughter showed me how all of his work had broken apart and how she'd had to pin and hold it up to keep her dress from falling down. How frustrating when one has spent hundreds on a gown, not to mention the $70 for alterations that broke apart. Most disappointing is that she spent a special evening in awkward discomfort. read more

update 9/1708 - Repeated recent failures to get women's tailoring right on the first try. Men's tailoring still good for jobs of apparently equal complexity - you find gender bias in the oddest places. Scuttlebutt is that Gloria is no longer always taking the measurements - if you want it done right; make sure she does the measuring. old review for history's sake - Overall, the best tailor I have ever been to. Prices a little higher than average for simple things like moving hems, but well worth a drive if you need a complex alteration (such as reconstructing your wedding tux because you've put on twenty pounds in the intervening fifteen years :-{ ). Good place if you are obsessive on the fit of your clothes; they'll keep working on it till you are satisfied. Gloria, who generally takes the measurements, is very sweet if somewhat over-talkative (that is, if you're just there to get your clothes altered - if you view a tailor as having a secondary function of small talk a la hairdresser, you'll probably enjoy her). However, I cannot support Gloria's glowing recommendation of an eco-friendly cleaner somewhere around Pine and Anaheim in Long Beach - the one time I schlepped there because I wanted a first rate cleaning (aforementioned tux) the first pass cleaning was at best a B- job. (cleaner offered to redo it, but I wasn't about to schlep out there a third time to pick it up again). read more

Terrible service and overpriced. My dress was not ready as scheduled. I had a flight the next day for a wedding and was VERY SPECIFIC about needing the dress by a certain time. I was told no problem at all, and when I went to pick it up, the guy was just hanging out on his phone doing nothing. He said, "ooops we made a mistake and forgot about your dress. Can you go get a coffee and come back in an hour?" I had other appointments and dont live in this area, I work in this area. I had to rush and rearrange everything that afternoon and I was given no apology, no discount, nothing! I was charged $30 to do a simple hem. Never returning there. read more

I finally found a taylor that does outstanding work. Arturo is very nice, professional and the alterations come out perfect. Just recently, I took a dress in late Friday and needed it altered for a wedding on Sun. I was able to pick the dress up at 10am on Sat. The dress fits perfect. Think twice before taking your garments here for alterations. I took a dress of my daughters here that needed alterations for an event. He had a week to complete the alterations ( this was based on his time frame he said he needed) and when I arrived today to pick up the dress they couldn't even find the items I had left. I had to go to the back and find the items for the gal. He filled out the pick up tag correctly but put them on the wrong day and the items had NOT even been touched! I had to take the dress because my daughter needs to wear it tomorrow. When I asked the gal to leave the pins in so I would know where to pin it so my daughter can wear it tomorrow, she argued and said she wasn't allowed to do that because it was HIS work. WHAT WORK HE DID NOTHING!!! I Am Extremely disappointed in how disorganized they are and she was totally non apologetic. She still wanted me to leave the items and pick them up next WEDNESDAY, didn't even offer to rush them. I also took all the other items I wanted altered. I am not trusting them with anything. I don't normally write reviews online because as a business owner myself I understand where most proprietors stand. And believe me I could have done it many times just to say whatever is on my mind but I held off. Today (4/25/18); this time however, I could not let it go. The person who answered the call when I called (a male voice who did not greet the caller with the usual politeness of someone who answers a phone call, let alone a business establishment), was very rude. He answered the phone in a very angry tone. I have two prom dresses to be altered (just the lengths). As I was explaining that that's all I needed to be done, he interrupts me abruptly to say, "it doesn't matter , ...." and tells me it will be done by Fri night. Since I need one of the dresses to be done by Sat (4/28), I asked if how sure can it be done by Fri when he told me twice in the beginning that it's too late as they have 38 gowns ahead of me. He then said in a very angry tone almost yelling as if scolding a child, "What did I tell you? What did I tell you? Huh?!!" I cannot recall any business establishment who answered me with such rudeness on the phone especially to a customer like me. And by the way, I have not raised my voice or had any angry tone when I was speaking to this person. I have to admit that before I could say anything rude, I just said,"Never mind" and I hung up. I understand it's a little late to have a prom dress length altered but he hasn't even seen the material of the dress and decide how easy or difficult it would be. Regardless of the situation, this is no way to treat a customer!!!!!! The place might be doing a good job generally speaking but this particular person I spoke to does not deserve any star, regardless if he owns the place or not. read more
