Great bites, especially the bang bang cauliflower! love the "Proud Girl Dad" beer as well. We enjoyed the outdoor patio, even with the traffic noise. staff was excellent, kind, patient, and efficient! read more

They have an amplified live jazz band with warehouse acoustics. It was unbelievably loud. It was awful. Do not go here if they have loud music. read more

beer was delicious. We were seated on the patio, plenty of umbrellas for sun shading, but although near 22nd, not too noisy. Had a flatbread and falafel, both delicious, and with special request sauces. Waitress was attentive and personable. We will return. read more

Food Good. The one beer I had was good. Ordered a second beer but the waiter forgot. We had a reservation and showed up on time. But, we were told we had to wait 10-15 minutes because the server in the section was running late. Sorry, not our problem. 80% of the tables were empty. Big Big Local Craft Beer supporter. Maybe I stop by if I am in the area to get that second beer. 2.5 stars read more

Stopped in mid-afternoon. Maybe half a dozen people. Bartender greeted me quickly enough, made an excellent Old Fashioned. The sandwich... I ordered a Rueben. Perfectly toasted rye bread, and that's where the good ended. Poorly constructed sandwich. One bite would have nothing but sour kraut, the next was all cheese and sauce. The other side of the sandwich had all the meat. Which was tender enough, it just lacked any flavor. At all. I don't know. If I decide to try them again it won't be anytime soon. read more

Great ambiance and service was great. I got the burger i thinks it was good. Beer selection is good. Great location.

Food is amazing. Beers are delicious. Services is Great. Would recommend any of my friends to come!

Good service and food with excellent beer offerings! Enjoy bring family and friends to enjoy food and beer specials.

Went on a Saturday night with my family. Cute place, food was fine... Not bad but nothing amazing. Rather over priced in my opinion. The one thing to know is parking is crazy. Several other restaurants share the same lot so parking is VERY limited. They do have valet. Overall not a bad experience but just $$$$. Side note they were very accommodating with my food allergy. read more

This place is overpriced for what you get and the service also isn't great. My fiancé had the "burger of the month" and thought the burger was dry and overcooked. I had the chicken sandwich. That was ok. Both came with fries that were cold and blah. The one good thing about this place was the fried pickles BUT 14.00 for 6 pickle spears?!?!? Our waitress was not great. I asked for water and never got that (weird IMO that you don't automatically get that when seated). Both beers we had were just ok. Probably wouldn't go back. read more

My husband and I were very disappointed with this location! Bar tender never cleared dirty dishes from bar or cleaned dirty bar top. Music was too loud and prices sky high, too bad was looking forward to a new craft bar experience, it didn't happen ! read more

The food and service was great! I took my team out for drinks and food, and everyone had a great experience. Will definitely return, and recommend you go. read more

Service was great! Good beer selection . Had the tuna nachos , kinda cut too thick , the fried pickles were the best thing I ate . Alter burger just ok . Everything seems bland . Coke slaw was bland ! The scene was too notch! read more

Had the Steak Frits. Excellent flavor and very tender. I would suggest getting the sauce on the side so you can regulate the amount you want. Will come back. read more

Was here last night for dinner. I ordered the Patty Melt and a Cherry Vanilla Sour to drink. Service was great they are very attentive. Very nice ambiance. My boyfriend ordered the Cod Sandwich meal and a Alterior Motive to drink. We had a great time. read more

the food and service was amazing today at alter brewing the food can be pricy but is worth it

Good food, good service, nice environment. It's a nice place to chill and have some beers and food!

Fun new spot! We LOVED the fried pickles and bang bang cauliflower - and beer, of course. Michelle was an outstanding server!

Great menu, food superbly prepared, friendly service. We went to the Oak Brook location twice and certainly recommend it.

Stopped in for a quick beer and bar food - and that's exactly what we got. Service was good - Ambience is modern beer hall style (we sat in the open bar area) read more

New facility and nice people... but $16 for a 4 pour flight of 3.5 oz tasters?? !! .. 14 oz total...WTH? Also... price not mentioned or on menu.. people like to try multiple samplings of the many drafts available... don't screw them over..! saw the $25 pretzel .. should be $10 .. beware! read more

The food was delicious, staff were friendly, and the service was fast. Great place for drinks and appetizers or a full meal. The giant pretzel is truly giant and a can't miss along with the brisket chips. The Southwest and Mediterranean inspired salads are tasty, lighter options. Portion sizes are generous and the menu is creative and flavorful. Lunch and early dinner are the best times for families as this large, open beer hall promotes a lively atmosphere later in the day; perfect for a gathering of friends or a work happy hour. The beer is some of my favorite in the Chicagoland area and Alter consistently seems to have enticing seasonal options marked with their alternative style. Multiple great experiences have solidified Alter's place in our regular rotation. A welcomed addition to the Western burbs. read more

Solid spot and service! Nice servers- good for family dinners. Great open space! We really enjoy it!

I've been here a few times now in the past month or two and each time has been great. The service has been fantastic. The bartenders are friendly and do a great job and the food has been excellent. I haven't been there when it's been busy though and would like to see if things change once the place fills up. read more

A new place to go with different food so we tried it and liked it. It's close to home so it could get to be in the rotation of places to go.

17 plus dollars for a flight with four 4 oz pours. Brutal. Will not be back most weren't very good either.

I've been to Alter in DG and St. Charles. This location holds up to their amazing reputation. Extensive menu, some of the best craft beer and outstanding service. Brittany was our server and she's super friendly, helpful with food and beverages choices, and very attentive. Definitely recommend checking out Alter for a drink or afternoon shopping snack! read more

First time there. Was a bit disappointing. Gotta remember this is a beer place. There was a problem with the food and they were eager to remedy it and offered to comp us a beer or wine after we already said we didn't drink. The BLTA sandwich was great but the burger was average. read more

great place with great food, unfortunately you have to get past the hostess. she clearly didn't want to be there, nor did she want us to be there. we felt like a bother to even have showed up ( folks seated next to us agreed too) once we got past her attitude and were seated, we were pleasantly surprised, our server Dominick was pleasant and helpful and the food was great. I think we'll stick to Downers Grove at this point. read more

Burgers are delicious, service was good, love the space! Pretty limited menu but I'll be back! All the people we encountered were extremely friendly. read more

My husband and I I visited and were very disappointed in the quality of the food. The service and beer are the reason for two stars. We sat outside on the patio which was nice. I got a bang bang chicken sandwich which consisted of a chicken patty they would serve at an elementary school. My husband got the fish and chips. It was soggy and tasteless. We also got a brisket and chips appetizer and it was just a cold mushy mess. We definitely will not be going back. read more

The beer is the winner here! The menu is small but the burgers and nachos we had were great........ I said burgers and nachos. This place is very very overpriced. I feel like I could of got an upscale dinner for the price of lunch and beers. I definitely recommend the beer but for the price you can get a better dining experience elsewhere. P.S. 25 dollar pretzel ? Really read more

Huge third location for Alter right near Oak Brook Mall. My wife and I came for beer and dinner on a Friday night. Took a few minutes to find a parking space. We were seated right away upon arrival. We were not handed menus but there is a QR code on the table. It appears that you can put items from the menu into a cart so we were initially confused if we ordered directly or had a server. After a good wait, a server finally approached. Very nice server. We ordered our dinner and drinks- I really wanted the pretzel appetizer but $25 for a pretzel seems ridiculously high. I ordered the wagyu meatloaf and my wife got the pot roast. Food was decent sized proportions and tasty. Our waiter forgot to bring us water but did apologize several times. However, our big issue- my wife ordered a 5 oz. taster of beer for $3.00 according to the menu. Upon receiving the bill, it states that she only got 3.5 ounces of beer and it cost $3.50. Not that big deal but I alerted the server about this. He was surprised and said he would speak to a manager. He came back and said that I the customer must have looked at the Downers Grove menu and was mistaken. I pulled up the menu directly from the QR code. I rescanned the QR code and it clearly states the amount and price. No apology or anything. No acknowledgment that there menu is wrong. At that point, we just paid and left. read more

Cocktails and apps were good but the entrees were meh. Burgers were mediocre and my husband's wagyu meatloaf was not good. Bright spot was the server. read more

I reached out as requested and no response back at all. Very disappointed in getting no response.

One of the best burgers I've ever had! 10/10 beer. Fried pickles. Will come back again!

The location and decor are amazing. Both beers we had were good, but very pricey. The food selection is minimal and prices are high for what you actually get. They need to add some lower cost options like snacks/sides. Also kids meals are $10 and they charge you an extra $1 if your kid gets soda as a drink, so $11 for a kids burger and fries, nothing extra comes with it (like a dessert). Service was good! read more

Great beer, interesting and tasty menu; spectacular place. Can't wait for the summer when the patios open. Should be a hit.
