I thought it was from a giant gopher but the sinkhole in my front yard turned out to be a decaying wood riser over a previously unknown second lid on my septic tank. It took a few days for Al's Septic Service to send out someone to inspect the problem, but that is understandable in a pandemic and Vickey in the office gave me some ideas so I could start researching options on the internet. The other septic companies I called didn't even call me back. George came out and walked me through options and improved my idea of moving the existing concrete lid to replace the original wooden riser/lid and put in a new sturdy plastic riser and lockable lid on the higher side. Brett and Brian were out in 2 days and got the job done in less than an hour. I am going to put a bird bath over the new lid to blend in with the new landscape. All employees respected my request and immediately put on a face covering whenever I needed to talk to them at a close distance. Now my front yard is safe and I am happily planting native dune plants and our health is safe because they followed Covid-19 precautions. Thank you for caring about your clients and community. I have had septic service for over 50 years.. I moved to San Luis Obispo , and thought I may have a preventative clean out before it was an emergency situation. ( Something that all with septic systems should have every 5-6 years , "just in case." ) I have used several services at my old location , and KNOW what good service is. Very disappointed with the plumbing services from Al's. The first time I used Al's septic/plumbing services was to have what I thought was a leak in the back bathroom. It turned out the toilets wax ring needed to be replaced along, with the flooring. I was in the process of having my toilets and shower/sink fixtures converted to low flo... I was given a quote by the plumber as to the cost to replace the toilets/wax ring/shower fixtures etc... I was also told by Al if I have their company replace the toilets etc the $55 service call normally charged to come out and check the leak would be waived. I followed through and had Al's replace the toilet, however, the plumber said I wouldn't need any fixtures changed as they were already low flo... I also had hired someone else to replace the wax ring and flooring...when I received the bill not only was I charged the original quote but the $55 service call was also included!! When I tried to call and get some kind of explanation I NEVER received a call back!! Recently I had to call Al's because the toilet that was fixed (not replaced) by Al's, was continuously running. Al's plumber came into my home...spent exactly 21 minutes replacing the ballcock... the part was in his van... pet the dog for 1 1/2 minutes and left. I received a bill for $185 dollars!!!! I will never use Al's plumbing/septic services again ever!! I was OVERBILLED NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!!! read more

Had this company come out and pump my septic tank almost two years to the date. My tank is now over flowing onto my lower property. I do understand that there maybe other circumstances for this issue but my latest conversations with their receptionist has left me a lot less confident in the integrity of this company I called I explained the situation and the previous hire. I also mentioned that my house is on the market and if it was possible if the company can send someone out to inspect and repair if needed. I was rest assured. That was three days ago and no follow up phone call. (I needn't go into detail about the families limited showers, accumulated dirty clothes , dish washing and of course the over flow of sewage every time water is introduced into the system.) The receptionist was always nice and sweet and probably has been there for quite awhile. As business owner myself I know how important it is to listen to your customers, Having to repeat my address and phone number more than once in such a short period seemed slightly incompetent or distracted. I was told that Al's in a meeting because they have them every week and they'll get back to me today or tomorrow. No appt time just a call back. I did explain that if they were too busy or didn't want the job I understand, so I can start making phone calls. She said she'll see if Al can call after his meeting. I also requested that I will need a report and a site map of the job for my realtor. She told me that it will be an extra hundred dollars. Then asked for my email and the address again! . I called back. No answer. Left a message informing Al's that another has company excepted the job. I was reminded by this company that I may have gotten a good price deal but really what are you paying for. I was explained thoroughly what to expect with their services and an estimate, the report and the site map is included with this service. This company will send a crew tomorrow Morning. read more

This company is fantastic. I had a poop pump blow up on a sunday evening (the pump is needed to run the house - it must pump the poop up about 4' to get it out to the street sewer level. Without it... we are up (or rather IN) - shet creek. We called on Sunday evening, and left a message. They called back in about 30 minutes and said they would be out first thing Monday morning ( For comparison, Roto Rooter of San Luis Obispo - with phone number ending in 9288 called back a WEEK later!... and then the gal laughed when we told her is was 7 days ago). Anyway, Al came out... fixed the pump (it needed a cheap float switch - not a new $400 pump)... cleaned everything up... and told me that the past firm to service it did an excptionally poor job because they did not clean out the bottom of the tank, which was full of various forms of debris - which contributed to the float not working properly. Guess what firm that was? (2 years ago)... Yep... Roto Rooter of SLO... that guy was an incompetent dick head.... big burly guy, low social skills,... just a basic ass. In hindsight Roto Rooter charged us $800 for a new pump - which was almost certainly not broken - it too was probably the float. Bottom line: Avoid Roto Rooter... go with Al's septic. read more

If you are into people not calling you back, and then if you are so lucky to have them finally call you back and eventually show up to pump your tank, don't expect them to fill the holes back in! Been 3 weeks now, and for some reason they were able to come over and expose the tank, pump it, but the excuse now is they are so backlogged with doing the sewer laterals that they don't have anyone to come over and fill the holes back in! Are you serious!? SOMEONE out of all their guys can't come over and spend less than 10 minutes to fill that back in for us!? This is not how they used to operate, I wouldn't doubt if he is going to retire once all the sewer work is done and just doesn't care anymore, it's pretty obvious that's the attitude now. Left two nice normal messages asking him to get someone over to finish it, then left a real ticked off message much more demanding, still have not heard a word, NOT ok! There are plenty of other pumping services around, this is your warning, call one of them and avoid Al's. read more

Don't use these people. I don't know about "Al", but I assume the receptionist must be his wife. After complaining that I did't get the Report of Inspection that I had asked for, she explained to me that THEY hadn't written that down. Then she wanted paid for the pumping service AND to have them come out and do it all over again for a second full charge! I was like, "WHAT?" This company provided the septic tank service and inspection for the house I purchased 3 years ago in Santa Margarita. I uncovered the tank for the first time this week and it turns out the tank lid was broken at inspection or they did not list the broken lid in the inspection report (I went back and checked the report). The lid was clearly broken and covered with a plastic bag and dirt to prevent smells from escaping. I have not touched the tank since inspection and I can be sure no other person touched the tank as the lid is 2 feet under earth. I would not recommend this company as their inspections are either poor or they break things and don't replace them. What a terrible company. Thanks Al's! read more
